She would have expressed her gratitude for him picking up the sword had she been able to call words to her lips at the point when he finally picked up the sword. Only able to flop about like a misshapen sack of flour, she was almost grateful that her consiousness was wavering again.

It seemed like only before she was stirred again by his voice. Her own was still not cooperating so she simply nodded into his back, hopeful that he would understand it, and trying rather unsuccessfully to brace herself for the upcoming slump to the ground.

She grunted when the cool stone of the smithy was abruptly underneath her, the corner that she was sitting in a new perspective that she had not seen the shop from before. Before her feet a little ways would have been where Tarien's surprised form had laid, a little ways beyond him and to the right would have been her mother, giving the semblance of a trail made of their bodies leading from the back to the side window.

Other than that incident this spot was usually where Tarien would be when Valin and her mother would enter the shop, the little stool he usually sat upon currently knocked over further behind the counter. In her blood-lossed and slightly delusional state she could see herself through his eyes. Walking hesitantly into the shop with her wide eyes looking up at him, her mother impatiently shoving her to go up to the counter faster before stepping to the side to lift her sword up for Tarien to inspect.

It was odd for her to think of that, odd even more so that is was made easier by her small curls dangling over her eyes, the same seagreen tint and the same twisting form to them as Tarien's. She briefly thought there was something important about that resemblance, but her mind couldn't figure out what that was. The subject always seemed to be pushed aside for later only to be forgotten until next she was reminded of it.

The smithy was a fortunate place for them to be. This was due in most part to the fact that the forge was still in fairly good condition and would provide a excellent source in a few moments. Divintra felt the tense muscles in his back relax after he deposited Valin into the corner. But he could not rest quite yet. The first thing on his mind was collecting wood and starting a fire in the forge to heat up some water.

"I'm afraid I'm not very knowledgeable about healing Valin. I know the basics though. Mother made certain I knew what to do. But I'm not certain if I remember right...." There was a stool in the area, and for a moment Divintra considered smashing it to use as firewood...but the state of the shop in general led him to believe there would be plenty of smashed up bits of wood here if he only looked for them.

Scrambling around the dusty vacant shop Divintra found and made use of a bashed up barrel. Obviously someone had decided the barrel had deserved to be smashed or something. Either way the broken boards made a good enough of a fire after Divintra had placed them in the forge and worked with his flint and steel for a bit.

"I think I should wash your wound out Valin...then I think I may have to do that thing where you put something really hot on it, in order to seal up the wound..." He cast a glance over at her. "Then I'll see about dressing it up in some clean cloth and getting you something to drink. You'll probably need it after loseing all this blood..."

The images of the past flashing in front of her eyes were beginning to give Valin a headache, an unneeded and annoying pain to add to her list. She blinked her doe eyes and trained them on Divintra, watching him walk back and forth in search of wood and then starting the fire, half hearing what he said. For some reason she felt like she was forgetting something. It seemed important, very unlike something she was normally supposed to do but still important.

She worked at getting her voice to come out of her dry throat again, letting out a wry laugh as she realized just how much she wanted her mists at the moment. "Water would be nice," she was finally able to get out. Seeing that the fire was built now she tried to find another way to distract herself, suddenly figuring out what she was forgetting, "I haven't thanked you yet for doing all this have I?"

Maybe it wasn't that she was forgetting to say it but that she had said it and forgot? Now she was unsure. "Well, thank you again, then, or for the first time, or something..." she rambled, her brows knitting together as she pointed to a cupboard underneath the counter, "There should be a pot under there, if it isn't rusted or stolen by now."

She wasn't sure if he was going to boil the cloth to sterilize it or not, but either way it would be useful for getting water, wherever it was he could get it. Remembering the pot was enough for her at the moment, as it again summoned up images of Tarien and her mother. Shaking them off, though an afterimage of Tarien sitting by the fire eagerly showing her how to boil soft metals in the pot still danced in front of her as if her mists were disobeying her commands and playing about, she turned her attention back again to Divintra to watch whatever it was he would do next.

He continued to work with what he could. He had his small knife he supposed he could heat up. But that would end up dulling the blade...well...maybe it was time now for him to get a actual dagger the way Lin had been griping on him about.

"There is no need to thank me Valin. I'm not finished yet after all." Divintra quipped with a faint amount of humor as he inspected his small knife thoughtfully until she informed him about the pot.

"Pot. Right." He replied as he turned to search for the pot that was spoken of. Opening the door, he peered within and searched about. Well..there was a pot..a small one. Perhaps big enough to hold a quart of water. Was this the one? "It's real dirty..I'll have to wash it off..."

Divintra stood with the pot in his hands, and crooked a finger towards Valin. "Lin stay with..." He began to speak to the fluttering mist creature. He paused, and blinked as it placed it's hands on it's hips and began to shake it's head about.

"Oh come on. Why do you have to argue with me all the time? Just stay and watch her. I'll be right back mother" Divintra grumbled at her, then turned and left the shop. Lin remained hovering in the air, her arms crossed over her chest with a dissapproveing frown on her face. With a small nod of her head, she fluttered over to where Lin laid.

"I... See..." she said, his words only vaguely making themselves clear in her mind. She had stopped moving now, and was in some sort of shelter instead of a dank alley, so her nerves had begun to calm down, and the wound had begun to congeal and close up. But it continued to throb each time she tried to breath in and there was a hot ache that spread through her ribs with each throb. She remembered that it would have to be properly closed somehow and she remembered Divintra mentioning something about heating up a peice of metal to do so.

To distract her mind from the images it was still attempting to conjure, she tried to remember what the word for putting heat on a wound was. It started with a 'c'. Her large, half-closed eyes looked up to where Lin was standing watch and her distraction was immediately swept aside as she saw the curve of her mother's firm scowl in the face of the little mistling.

Her eyes closing but the vision remaining clear, Valin slipped into another doze filled with happenings of times long past. The sword weilding lessons her mother would have her perform every morning, the long trips to the market place just to visit this store, the soft look that would appear in her mother's eyes only when they came in veiw of the shop's front window. It seemed like her mother was a warrior in every possible aspect of her life, as Valin assumed many Drow's proffessions carried through in their personalities. Every aspect except with the care of her sword, now Valin's sword, which seemed to be connected with the store her doe eyes would take in with curiousity every visit.

She continued to doze, senses alert in whatever ways they could be for Divintra's return.

Divintra wanted to run to the shore line in order to wash out the pot. But caution and Lin's scowl kept him from making that error. All it would take was one ill intent drow to see he was in a hurry to pick up on a easy target. Divintra could not afford to draw such attention when Valin was incapable of protecting herself...and him!

Washing the pot and collecting the water took some time. Particularly since Divintra had done his best to ensure he didn't get any sort of floaters in the water. He returned to the shop, and paused at the door only long enough to properly barricade it. Now that he had the water he was certain that he would not be leaving the shop for a bit, and he wanted to ensure that no one else might randomly wander in. Once it was the door was blocked and the windows covered to the best of his ability Divintra hurried his way to the back of the shop.

"Valin? Are you still awake?" He asked worriedly as he set the pot aside and began to poke around the forge furnace a bit. He needed to get the fire tarted, and this is what Divintra would focus on for the next few minutes. How badly was Valin hurt? Should he go and find some healer?

Her dozing was disturbed by Divintra's return, it seemed like ages since he had left. Warily, she slit her eyes open to make sure it was indeed Divintra who had come in and was rummaging around near the door, doing something probably useful that she didn't really care about at the moment. She blinked once, having to open her eyes wider to get the figure, whose garbled words were just barely making it to her ears, to come into focus.

"'m fine, awake," she mumbled, not really knowing why she would say she was fine. Her ribs still ached and there was something warm and wet trying to work its way up the back of her throat, but her mind was more worried about when it would be able to go back to sleep. She moved an arm to try and sit herself up a little more, to make it easier to breath, and immediately halted with a small gasp as the warm liquid in the back of her mouth tried to break for an escape and her side protested like it was on fire.

Moving more slowly this time, she got her arm underneath one of her hips and pushed herself into a taller seated position. The liquid, which tasted an awful lot like blood and whatever it was she might have eaten last, retreated until she was able to swallow it. As she couldn't think of anything else to do at the moment, she let herself relax against the wall and watched Divintra, diverting her attention to her curiosity about what it was he was doing now.

It was the movement that caused Lin to flutter around Divintra's head like a frantic moth. He turned his head to peer over at Valin, he dropped the tinder he had gathered and rushed to where she was slowly moving to rise. "No no no. Valin lay down!" He hissed softly under his breath. He reached to place one hand over the area she had been wounded, so as to ensure the wound was not torn open more by the movement, and the other he placed directly on her chest. He applied light pressure and murmured.

"You must lay down and be still Valin. Do you want to die?" He scolded her. Even though she was laying against the wall, it still worried him that even the effort of sitting up may be too much for her. Divintra looked over her face, his white brows knit together even as Lin settled on his left ear.

"I am going to try and seal the wound, but I am worried that sitting up may cause you to lose more blood. Please Valin? Just give me a few more moments?"
