Kyoupiruchi
Wiping off the dust on his metal chest, Kyou popped open the lock to reveal the numerous vials of fel essence residing within. Some making soft gurgling noises, some shimmer brightly in the complete darkness of the chest, and some just sitting idly at the bottom of their vials. Kyou had already given at least a quarter of these corrupted essence out now. There are some extra space for Kyou to sift through to find the essences he needed.

Fact is, 4 volunteers had sent in their responses to Kyou's most recent advertisement. Their paper forms sit on the surface of the table next to Kyou right now. Based on their information, Kyou is to choose an appropriate fel essence for each of them.

From one of the top row he took out a vial with something shimmering brightly in it. But a vortex of darkness surrounded the light. Carefully he placed it on top of the paper application labeled for "Alistair Greenwitch". Then he took out a larger jar with a tree branch sitting in it. Upon first inspection it looked like it's bare and dead. But actually it's just the winter season for the branch now, when Autumn arrives it'll start to bloom Spring flowers. Such a peculiar tree branch that goes against the current season. Holding it carefully with both his hands, Kyou placed it next to the paper application that came from a girl named "Kinsey". Digging through the bottom of the box for a few seconds, he finally pulled out a vial with a piece of shining, smooth silver in it. The nugget clang lightly to the glass as he held it up to inspect in the light. It looks and sounds like silver alright. But to his surprise when he found it in a cavern it wasn't oxidized by the nature at all. Not only that, it's as if the piece of silver is like rubber. It has no reaction at all towards a magnet and cannot conduct electricity or heat at all. Kyou almost dropped the vial when his foot accidentally kicked the corner of the metal chest, causing the glass vials inside to knock against each other lightly, which would almost sound like a beautiful chime if Kyou didn't panicked for a few seconds there. Good thing he didn't broke anything with his clumsiness. Holding the vial of Unoxidized Silver with extra care, he placed it on top of the paper application labeled for "Emile".

Last but not least, for the final person, who he couldn't read the name because Kyou accidentally spilled coffee over it. It seemed like the person didn't use water proof ink pens to fill out his form. But thankfully the rest of the paper was saved, except for the name. From beside the fel essence that was gurgling softly, he fished out a vial with a couple of coffee beans in it. Kyou's face darkened a little as he remembered his incident with these beans. It's perfect, spilled coffee and coffee beans, they match together well. This is the perfect fel essence for this... "Mr Blurred Name Caused By Spilled Coffee". Yeah.

Pulling out the briefcases that he collected back from some previous owners, he began to pack the fel essences and soul bottles that he randomly picked out from his stash. The soul bottle stock is getting low, he must pay a visit to Jeremy to order some more soon. Labeling the briefcases appropriately, he prepared the items to be mail out tomorrow to their new owners.

Log the First: A Bottle and Vial have I

The quiet clinking of china was the strangely soothing soundtrack to an average morning at the Fluteriousllae house. The off-white cups and saucers with spidery cracks in their glossy exteriors, seemed content with their current, constant usage. Also, the strange, mythical beasties that chased themselves about the rims of every delicate piece were no more hostile than the man who was currently sipping a steaming cup of tea from them demurely, and fingering papers that lay on the table next to an opened parcel.

Cat-like eyes were fastened on the papers with a quiet intensity, and it was a long, silent moment, before Wit was satisfied with his perusal, and set the documents down beside his saucer. Taking another long sip of his tea, he sighed in satisfaction, and picked up the small vial that had come with the package. Tilting it as a child mite, the unremarkable looking beans inside of it made a clinking noise as they shifted from one end to the other, prompting Wit to repeat the motion in reverse, and he smiled delightedly as the sound was reproduced. This naturally resulted in several more experimental wiggles of the tube, and that was about the time that Dweian came in.

Dweian had been out shopping, as that was one of his self-appointed duties for the house. He’d made tea before he left, as it was a Saturday, and Wit would arise late in the morning, with no intention at all of going to work or doing anything remotely productive for the day, and so the older of the two had resigned himself to a day chock full of meal preparation and house-cleaning. If it wasn’t for the fact that the young lord, last scion of the House Fluterious, wasn’t a hundred and ten percent better in every respect in contrast to his late sire, then Dweian wouldn’t have lingered around at all.

However…Wit had freed them both, and he owed the addled blond something for that. A very large something, and though he hadn’t planned on lifetime ‘doting’, it seemed that that was exactly what he was stuck doing.

The moment Dweian walked in the door, Wit’s head snapped up, and he grinned, that Cheshire-smile that always worried the brunette, and then a greeting was chortled in a fashion that indicated that he was terribly pleased with himself over some trifle or another. That was cause to fret as well, as they’d had to replace the carpet in the second bedroom the last time Wit had been this jolly.

“Hello, Dwee.” The blond was still clad in nothing but a pair of sleeping pants, a silk outer robe, and a pair of absurdly fuzzy slippers in an outlandish shade of magenta…the trouble was that he probably thought they looked smashing on him.

After the initial slipper shock, the elder male’s eyes flicked to the table between the two of them, and he stepped in close, meaning to scoop up whatever it was that Wit had…apparently a vial and a bottle of some sort, but the blond beat him to it, snatching the two baubles off the table and eyeing Dweian suspiciously. Oh he didn’t trust the other with his new treasures, no indeed.

“What’s that?” Just as untrusting, Dweian started to unpack the groceries, seeing as how the other wasn’t willing to surrender what he had just yet. “And where did you get it?” He’d learned that was the best strategy with Wit…ask lots of questions.

“This one answered an ad.” The blond had that tinge of pleasure in his own cleverness in his tone, “It was from…a Dr. Kyou…you’ve heard of him, perhaps?”

Vaguely, Dweian recalled the name, and then…with a sinking feeling, he remembered a passing conversation about an ad… “You didn’t.” Fixing hazel eyes on the other, the human glared at his otherworldly counterpart, a scowl causing lines to furrow at his brow. However, despite his wishful denial, he knew the other had. Why oh why did he have to be saddled with an adult creature that chased after everything that caught his fancy with the stubborn determination of a child half his age?

“Wit didses.” He chortled, shaking the vial back and forth again, his amusement painfully obvious. “Is…coffee beans. We shall have to figure outs why they are so special.” A long finger tapped the stopper on the vial ominously, and Dweian immediately closed the distance between them, snatching the essence out of harm’s way.

“Uh-uh.” He countered, “You’re not getting this back until you promise not to open it. And for god’s sake at LEAST promise me not to brew coffee out of the damn things. It’ll probably kill you or turn you into a chicken or something.” Quite clearly he was mistrustful of Wit’s new fascination.

The blond’s eyes suddenly grew large, and his lower lip trembled in a pout…if nothing else, he was a splendid actor. “Can this one pleaaaaaaaaase have it back? He will be good. Would not drink anyway…” Wit made a face, “Coffee is a disgusting, vile, bitter beverage, and thou art better off abstaining from it entirely.” He held out a hand expectantly, “Give it back to me, Dwee.”

He was suddenly all serious again. Damn his fickle moods.

Heaving a grand sigh, Dweian placed the vial in the blond’s waiting palm. The instant that Wit’s fingers folded over it, the Cheshire grin was back, bright and shining, and the brunette instantly regretted his decision.

“Thank you, Dwee…” Picking up the papers again, he shuffled them around until he found the one he wanted, and he held it up for the other’s perusal. “See? This one is to be being to find one of these to put in Wit’s new bottle.”

Squinting, Dweian peered at the illustration that danced beneath the text, obviously scrawled by Wit himself…as he knew the other had taken to making all of their books ones that ‘had pretty pictures to explain thingses’ which meant that an indeterminate amount of tomes in the library now had doodles in all of their margins.

This particular sketch was of a human-fox-like creature with a devious smirk on its face, an expression that reminded Dweian rather startlingly of Wit himself. Eyes flitting to the top of the page, the man read the title with a groan of dismay.

Kitsune.

Log the Third: Checkmate - Soul Capture

Sephiros Immortal
A casual observer would never have pegged stealth as one of Wit's key attributes. Talkative, whimsical, and energetic yes, but not stealthy. Sneaking about wasn't something that Wit did very often, but mind, when he did it, he did it well. He wasn't equipped with too much for this outing, merely a small bag that he'd assured his 'babysitter', had everything that he needed within it. With a soft sigh, he checked again to make sure that it was all there, and then, glancing around, he picked a nice bench on which to sit and wait. Ah, yes, the price of being early. Now it was only a matter of having his companion for this little venture show up, after all, Shadow had to drop his young charge off by the house. (Dweian had given the directions, as Shadow was nothing but failure in that category).

Humming softly, as he was wont to do, Wit pulled out his notebook and flipped through the sketches and jottings that he'd made in the past couple of weeks. Now...if he could only remember all the things he was supposed to do...and all the things he'd practiced, in order to outwit his prey, then things should go smoothly. If not, well...that's what Shadow was for, after all...well, and to play along, but the little thief was likely to do that anyway.

Manda
Indeed, Shadow was on his way there at the moment - having already dropped off Fiosdae, along with a veritable list of the things the little one could get into if not watched carefully. He'd heard of this shrine before, but never really been near it himself... curious as to how this would turn out. He supposed there would be some element of danger involved, but the little thief wasn't too terribly worried about that.

Deciding to have a bit of fun, Shadow did some sneaking himself... popping up behind the bench where Wit was waiting rather suddenly and tweaking the tips of the other's ears. "Having fun yet?"

Sephiros Immortal
Wit's eyes went wide and he whirled with a yelp, unsure of what had just happened, flame flickering at his fingertips for just a half-second, before he deflated, sighing in relief. "You gave this one a start." He scolded quietly, "Youses is very sneaky-eekie." Adjusting his hat as one might adjust a pair of eyeglasses, he attempted to regain what little dignity he possessed, and meandered back over to the other. "Is youses ready?"

There had been reports of a prankster here...mostly centered about the little shrine that was housed in the center of this park. However, there had also been strange whisperings that it was no human hooligan that had been the root of the mishaps, but instead a creature with slanted eyes, massive ears, and a grinning mouth. Something decidedly otherworldly, and if Wit's sources were right...the very creature he was hoping to catch.

Manda
Shadow had immediately ducked down again after doing so - and was glad that he -had- when he spotted those little flame-lets. "Isn't that sorta the point?" he half-drawled then, standing up again with a grin. Then he nodded and rocked back and forth just a bit. "Ready as I'll ever be~"

Sephiros Immortal
Wit nodded, "All right, for the moment-like, youses is to be being watchingses...watchingses for our pretty-pretty quarry." The kitsune wouldn't want to be found, likely as not, but Wit was fairly confident that they could lure it out...one thing that the devious pranksters were known for was being unable to resist a challenge...or a game, whether it be of chance, or skill, or mind...and Wit had options, oh yes he did, he'd done his research, which was why his bag was so heavy. Heading up the little stone path towards the shrine, it became clear that this area would be perfect for someone who wanted to prank the more serious shrine-goers, as the lights dimmed out to set the mood, and there was shrubbery grown up along both sides of the path, lovely trees hanging over it. Beautiful on an afternoon stroll, but could almost be seen as delectably creepy at this time of night.

Manda
Shadow glanced about as they walked - padding along behind the other. He knew what they were -here- for, and he figured the thing would show up sooner or later. Plus, if it got really dangerous, he could always run. So he wasn't too worried, all things told. "Well, this is pleasant," he commented with a little smile - skittering from side to side for a moment to poke at the bushes.

Sephiros Immortal
For a while, it was silence, Wit murmuring something in response to what Shadow said, green eyes flickering to watch the other as he investigated the greenery. Nothing so far, nothing at all. Checking his watch, he acted as though he was searching for nothing at all...nary a thing, just coming here to see the shrine like everyone else. He paid no heed to Shadow, that wasn't part of his business...and then, much like clockwork, minutes later there was a rustle, so soft it might have been the wind...and then...moments later, another...and if one attempted to hear it, the faintest echo of mocking laughter. The smile on Wit's face stretched into a grin. He did not have to speak it, for he knew what it was that he heard.

Manda
Oh dear... Shadow heard that as well and paused - head tilting to one side. "Helloooo~" he called out, almost playfully.

Sephiros Immortal
"This one does not think the kitsune will answer so quicklies..." He whispered, seeming amused and intriuged, and still he walked on, headed towards the shrine. That was where he hoped for all of this to take place, and not on the pathway itself. It would be a better setting, more dramatic, and a fine tale all told, for when he had to retell it to the anxious Dweian.

The rustling was all too happy to follow, as they came to the steps leading up to the little shrine, incense had been burnt here not too long ago, and could still be smelled faintly, were one to sniff the air. Pausing, Wit stuck hands in his pockets, casually looking around. Nothing yet...not yet...for it knew that they knew...and it was cautious.

Manda
Shadow kept right on padding along behind the other, still smiling. He shrugged slightly at that comment and said, "Well, it was worth a try, right?" Wandering up to the steps, he bounded up to the top of them, glancing about from up there. Wheeere are you, kitsune?

Sephiros Immortal
Carefully, he sat down on the steps, taking his hat off and setting it beside him. Dipping into the bag he carried, he put down a wooden board, laid out so that there were nine squares on each side, in each row... Obviously some sort of game. He had another small bag, obviously the pieces for it, but those he didn't remove, keeping it in his lap. "Hast thou ever played Shōgi, Shadowling?" He inquired lightly, almost able to feel golden eyes on them just now.

Manda
Shadow padded over to peer at the game - still standing but now with upper body very nearly parallel to the ground as he bend over the other's shoulder. "Noo-ooo," he replied slowly, eyeing the game board. "What sort of game is it, Wit?"

Sephiros Immortal
"Muchly like the game chess...only not so muchly, is per'aps, more fun..." Glancing about, he called to the bushes. "I could show this one, if mayhap I had someone elsely to play with." It was something of a challenge, but he knew not whether or no the kitsune would rise to it. But they were a playful, mischievious lot, even those that had turned to darker pursuits, and one thing they were very bad at resisting was a challenge, especially when it came to games or riddles. Wit had, after all, done his research. "Dost thou desirest to play, prankster foxling?" It was coaxing, and yet taunting all at once, and the rustle this time sounded almost indignant, and two glowing orbs could be seen hovering above nearby bushes...and two...three...perhaps more tail-tips could be glimpsed if only for a fraction of a second.

Manda
Shadow straightened up and waved toward the eyes floating there. "Hello!" he called. "Do come out and don't be shy~ I'm very curious about this game, really," he went on. Indeed he -was- curious... and he wanted to see if they could lure the kitsune out of hiding.

Sephiros Immortal
Very slowly, Wit began laying out the tiles on the board, each marked with a different symbol denoting rank, like the king and queen, however, after a moment, he purposefully misarranged a few of the pieces, knowing that the kitsune would catch it. Such a wondrous place this was, and Wit smirked at the first hint of the kitsune-bi, glinting off of the fox statues that adorned the area, as it was indeed an Inari shrine, a pleasant haunt for any kitsune, be it good or bad, though that definition was most certainly up to translation.

There was a shimmering, and a distinctly pale individual appeared, a glimmer of orange highlighting features as he rose from the bushes, his eyes strange, golden and glowing. He was wrapped in garb befitting the country which had generated his lore, his tails swished to and fro behind him as he made his entrance. There was a scowl on his features, and quite matter of factly, he came over to the board, hopping up onto the steps, to rearrange the tiles...and then slide Wit a sly grin. "So what do you want, fae creature, and what's in it for me?" There was a long fall of reddish hair that made his angular, fox-like features stand out sharply, especially in the dim light, and from beneath his robes it was clear to see that fingers were too long...clawed, inhuman, and yet not so.

They'd lured him out, and for a game, he was all too willing to take the risk.

Manda
Shadow skittered back a step or two, but then came closer again, tilting head at the creature. Well, well. Couldn't say he'd ever seen anything like that before. He didn't say anything just then, however... letting Wit do the talking.

Sephiros Immortal
Well then, that was more like it. Placing the rest of the tiles, he grinned a cheshire cat grin, and glanced over at Shadow. "Well, if thee were to play me, then a wager would be in order, dearie-dee. Shadowling, what sort of thing hast he and I that might be wagered in this game?" It was a prompt, more than anything, and he knew that the kitsune would sooner hear it from another's lips than that of his challenger. "Nothing simple it must be."

There was a nod of agreement from the kitsune, who came to sit cross-legged on the other side of the board, quite clearly scheming already. Kitsune were not known for fair play in games like these, it was simply a matter of outwitting them first.

Manda
"Hmm.... " Shadow hummed at that, pretending to think about it for a moment or two. Of course, he knew -precisely- what Wit wanted, but they couldn't make it too obvious that all of this was planned out, now could they? "Nothing simple... Well, what is more complex about a being... than a soul?" he asked, raising brows.

Sephiros Immortal
Quite clearly the kitsune was unsure about such a propisition, eyes narrowing dangerously, clawed fingers drilling on his own arm in a plain display of healthy skepticism. "Simple it is not, but would you really be willing to play for a soul? It might leave you an empty shell, foolish fae-child."

Wit simply arched a brow and shrugged, "This one is quite good, art thou so unsure of thy skill, kitsune-dear?"

Snorting at the endearment, he waved a hand dismissively. "Fine, souls it is. When I collect yours, I'll use it as my lantern. We'll see how smart that witty tongue of your is then."

Manda
Shadow blinked at that - a bit startled that it would be an equal bet ... so to speak. He hadn't really expected Wit to offer -his- soul in return... for some reason. He didn't say anything, however - just dropped to sit crosslegged on one side of the board. He just ... hoped that Wit really did know what he was doing.

Sephiros Immortal
Well naturally, fair was fair, after all, and if he was going to be teetering on the edge of legitimacy for this anyway, then might as well start out properly, no need to put the entire operation in peril if there was no need for it. Combing fingers through blond hair, Wit rubbed his hands together in glee. "Now keep an eye on he and me, Shadowling, we is to be playing fair, a'rightly?"

The kitsune idly tapped a tile with a long-nailed finger, already pursing his lips thoughtfully, scheming, planning. This was no mere mortal that he was playing with, and well he knew it, however...he was a kitsune with a reputation to uphold. Very well. Let the games begin.

Manda
Shadow nodded in an eager sort of fashion - putting the matter of souls behind him for the moment. Wit would win this game... he had to. And as the game progressed, it was quickly seen that the little thief really did have trouble sitting still for long periods of time. He'd sit cross-legged for a while, then shift to pull one knee up to his chin ... then get up to wander about (though always keeping an eye on the game). Eventually, around mid-way through, he ended up lying on his stomach with chin propped in one hand, alternately watching the pieces still on the board and the two players themselves.

Sephiros Immortal
The game had progressed fairly evenly, with pieces captured, used against their opponents, and all manner of stratagems betwixt the two. The kitsune had once or twice been caught in attempting to move a piece where he oughtn't, and when he shouldn't, and had growled in a disgruntled fashion when Wit had smiled, and neatly moved the piece back where it should be, not once contested.

If Wit's pieces moved where they weren't supposed to...well...no one noticed, Wit, after all, didn't have to touch anything in order to move his pieces if he didn't wish to. Not a skill he flaunted, his hidden ace, as it were. Tapping his dragon tile and then sliding it into place, he already had several options schemed out in his mind. This game would be his, one way or another.

The kitsune, nest of tails flicking to and fro independently of one another, smiled serenely, as though this game wasn't at all putting his soul in jeopardy. In fact, Wit and the kitsune, who called himself Hiyoshi, had been engaged in light banter, often taunting or teasing about the latest capture in the game, and now, with an exaggerated yawn, the fox-spirit stretched out on the stone, almost lazily moving his tile to capture one of the blond's in an easy play.

Manda
Shadow -had-, in fact, noticed a few of Wit's pieces moving seemingly all by themselves, but since the moves were helping Wit... well. He hadn't really seen the need to say anything. He'd rather see his new friend win this game than the kitsune, after all. Shifting slightly, the thief moved to half-curl up on his side, head tilting as he watched the game.

Sephiros Immortal
It had come to that point in the game, however, where it was down to a handful of tiles, having inched across the board for the confrontation to take place on the right-hand side. The kitsune calmly moved one of his pieces. "ōte." He stated calmly, indicating that Wit's king was in danger.

Wit, however, laughed softly, moving but a single knight, having predicted such a move, as it was too easy to pass up. Smirking, and grinning in a manner befitting a smug victor, he leaned in across the board. "Tsumi. Checkmate." Green eyes were alight with pleasure, and the kitsune too grinned back at the other, looking almost like a pair of siblings just now. Now came the final test. Would the kitsune keep his bargain?

Manda
Shadow sat up immediately at that, now watching just the kitsune - wondering what would happen. Indeed, would the kitsune honor the bargain?

Sephiros Immortal
The two both rose then, sizing one another up like rivals for a duel, the kitsune blinking calmly, golden eyes wide and serene. Clasping hands at the waist, he bowed. "A skillful game you play, Wit...a skillful game indeed." But then, the grin turned positively devious. "But a kitsune can you catch?" There was a flash of fox-fire, and he darted backwards, no longer human, but fox again, and slid around the steps to the edge of the shrine itself.

Wit laughed, snatching the soul bottle, empty, from his bag, and tossing it at Shadow. "Keep watch...he will be being to be coming back." Jumping, Wit dashed after the other, fire streaming from his fingertips. In his personal opinion, it was just part of the game. If he were to catch the kitsune, then he knew that Hiyoshi would surrender.

Manda
Shadow yelped softly and quickly reached out to catch the bottle, and when he looked up again, Wit was gone. Well ... all right then, he'd just stay here. Peering curiously at the bottle itself, the little thief poked at the thing - wondering how in the world one would keep a soul in there.

Sephiros Immortal
And indeed, the two came tearing about the side again, chasing one another, and then Wit sprang into the air, erecting a fiery barrier before the kitsune, who faltered only long enough for Wit to land atop of him, and with a yelp, the kitsune shifted again, so that now the blond half-breed was straddling a more human figure, and blinking at one another for a moment, Wit then smiled broadly, baring fangs. "Outwitted, and outchased. What shall thy choice be, dearie-dee?"

Hiyoshi laughed wryly then, "What do you want my soul for, fae creature? What use could you possibly have?"

Nodding a head towards the bottle, he beckoned Shadow closer. "To create a new life entire..." He murmured, fingertips reaching out to touch the flickering markings betwixt the other's eyes. "Thou shalt be reborn."

Carefully, the kitsune seemed to consider this, before he nodded. "You can let me up. My promise is a promise, and my soul shall be yours." It was a quiet intonation, reluctant and not quite convinced, but some hope was better than none at all. Disentangling himself from Wit, he stood, brushing off his clothing, and then extending a long-fingered hand towards Shadow. "Give me the bottle, youngling."

Manda
Shadow had backed up out of the way when the two of them came tearing back into the clearing - stopping just short of skittering right up the wall of the little temple there. Now, though, he edged slowly closer and then a bit faster... holding the bottle out toward the kitsune with a glance at Wit. "Here..." What would a trapped soul look like..?

Sephiros Immortal
Taking the bottle in both hands, the kitsune sighed deeply, as though relinquishing the fervor that he had once possessed. He had lost, vanquished, defeated, and he would not try to run again. With a twitch of his ears, he winked roguishly at Wit, and burst into fox-fire...the kitsune-bi almost instantly funneling into the bottle to glow there, swirling faintly...and the kitsune was no more.

Manda
Shadow yelped as the bottle was quite suddenly falling and -dove- to catch the thing, tumbling across the ground with it held close to his chest, almost like some kind of very strange football catch. Then he got back to his feet easily and peered at the filled bottle, head tilted over to one side. "Well .... looks like you got your soul," he said then, looking up at Wit with a grin.

Sephiros Immortal
Wit stared for a few moments at where the kitsune had been, and then nodded, moving to pick up the discarded game, sighed softly, an almost rueful expression on his features. "This one rather liked him, thoses...Wit is to be hoping that the Raevan that comeses is like him a little..." Perking then, he chuckled softly, "Shadow should come play with me instead then, hmm?"

Manda
Shadow blinked, then laughed at that, padding over to plop down cross-legged on one side of the board. He set the bottle to one side and nodded. "I think I've got the hang of this game now... so long as we aren't playing for souls anymore!"

Sephiros Immortal
Wit grinned back at his new friend, moving to tuck the bottle away safely, glistening in the darkness of the blond's knapsack. "Another game then...?" Though he rather thought that he wouldn't cheat in this one, after all...Shadow was right, and they weren't playing for souls.

Mission accomplished~

Journal Entry - The First
Wit Fluteriousllae

--------------------

This isn't the first time since the soul capture that Dwee has found me playing Shōgi alone.

It was very strange, but the strange camaraderie betwixt Shadow, the kitsune, and myself, is something that I almost instantaneously missed. Honestly, I must teach Dwee the game, poor chap has made himself fret overmuch over the fact that I play chess and checkers on my own, much less Shōgi. This is a turning point, I suppose in that I now actively desire to make friends other than my poor, ever so endearing butler. This is also the first time since my father's death, where I have taken the life of another. True, it is not yet extinguished, the soul wavering fiercely in the bottle where I have entrapped it, but the kitsune, his physical form, is no longer here. Will I feel less guilty, perhaps, when the vibrant orange soul-swirls have once again found home in a more...material form?

A Raevan...

They are truly beautiful creatures, these floating, bobbing bits of body and ribbon. I have not seen one yet that did not instantly charm my eyes, and quite soon after, my heart and affections. I am sure that when my own Raevan emerges from this unassuming vial and quite flambouyant soul that he and I shall strike up that same camaraderie that I now mourn the loss of.

I am skeptical, however, as to how much the soul might affect the personality. If so, I hope that the new Raevan is not terribly snarky. I could not abide that and I fear that Dwee could not abide two creatures in the same house that seem to have an intent on driving him mad. Perhaps I should invest in some therapy for the poor man...I am quite terribly fond of the old chap after all, and it would be a shame for him to have a duality of mind such as I have, or some other mental ailment caused by the antics of a childlike torso and a daft half-breed.

At any rate, the soul capture was a marvelous success, and now I may turn my attentions to learning more about the Raevans themselves. I, after all, must be a most excellent parent, regardless of my mental state. Ah look, it's tea time...further musings shall simply have to wait.

Log the Fourth: The Whims of Creation - Prelude to Soul Drop-off

Dweian was vexed. The soul-bottle that now contained an eerily wavering orange wisp...kept ending up in the most peculiar of places. The windowsill, the laundry-room, and today it had merrily greeted him, glowing vibrantly, in the depths of the pantry. Frustrated, he put it atop the table, where he kept a wary eye on it, as though expecting it to grow legs and simply depart, off on another adventure, if bottles were allowed to do such things.

In truth, somewhere, he knew that it was Wit, and that Wit was so very absent-minded and easily distracted, that the blond tended to forget things quite easily. That in and of itself caused more problems than anything, as Wit often came whimpering to his self-proclaimed nanny begging his aid in the discovery of whatever item he'd misplaced this time. And no matter how many times it happened, Dweian hadn't the strength to resist those other-worldly puppy eyes.

Just then, Wit came flying in, lower lip trembling in the wibble that often proceeded tears, and Dweian instantly knew what had caused the nervous fit, and with a long-suffering sigh, pointed to the soul bottle that was now atop the lacy tablecloth, innocently winking at them. For the love of all that was holy, that thing was proving to be far too much trouble for a supposedly inanimate object.

That did it. With a squeal of glee, Wit pounced upon the bottle, snatching it up and cradling it to his chest like the precious thing it was. Now he was in his own little world, all but oblivious to Dweian, crooning softly...at least, until the dark-haired man put a hand on his friend's shoulder. "Wit...please, for the love of god, will you take that blasted thing and turn it in to wherever you're supposed to turn it in? If you're going to make a...raver, raevan, god knows what out of it, then by all means please do it already!" His exasperation was clear in his voice, leveling the halfbreed fae with a stare that meant business, or at least as much business as Dweian was capable of.

Wit blinked with as much astonishment as a man who had been blindsided by some sort of blow, and staring goggle-eyed at his usually mild-mannered nanny, he slowly let his gaze drop to the sphere cradled in his palms. Raising it slowly, he allowed an uncertain smile to creep its way back onto his lips. "This one thinks perhaps that the Raevan is ready to be born-like..." He conceded, nodding to both bottle and human.

"Good!" Dweian clapped hands together in a satisfied manner, "Now put your coat on and I'll call ahead and you can run that blasted thing off to the Lab, is that understood? Don't get lost on the way and for heaven sakes don't go off chasing butterflies or some other such something..." A pause, "...please?" It sounded, perhaps, a wee bit desperate.

Wit grinned, that cheshire smile that meant that he was highly entertained by something, and he bobbed his head in agreement. "This one is to be being good, he promises!" Skipping off to get the proper packaging for the bottle and vial, he seemed as enthused as a child off for his first day of summer vacation.

Approximately ten minutes later, he heard the door open and close, and peering outside the window much like the hovering mother of such a child might, he saw Wit making his way down the walkway, the bounce in his step just short of an outright skip.

...well, now he would have a few moments of peace and quiet.

However, little did he know that Wit would return home triumphantly with his brand spanking new tambourine right in the dead center of Dweian's afternoon nap.
