The one person for whom he sought warmth and reassurance stood before him just as bewildered as he. How could he possibly explain the reasoning behind his sudden surrender. She would not hear of his sister's loathing: she meant it all in jest, is what Arry would say. So then, how would he explain to his mother his sudden change of heart?
"I... I... I'm just a burden to you, Mother," Milo padded his way before his mother, arching his paws so that he may nuzzle at her cheek. The tentative touch would be relished from this moment on for it would be the last time he saw her for sometime.
"I don't want you to cry... o-or to worry you anymore. I-I'll go... for you."
Pathetic Phoreko muttered under his breath.
This display of vulnerability was something both foreign and putrid to him. With a gruff snarl, he turned on his heels and latched at the nape of his shagged son. Whether it was because he was his newly appointed guardian or whether it was driven by Phoreko's unusually possessive demeanor towards Arry, he gave his son a rough tug to tear the two from one another's embrace.

Watching from a distance Mahina slinked around a tree. "Guess this is it!" She grinned and dragged both clawed paws down the tree trunk; tiny flakes chipped off. Bounding towards her family she stopped a few feet away from her father. "Take good care of him daddy." her cold look showed she was sarcastic. With a couple quick hops she hugged her small arms around his leg. "I'll miss you..." and as quick as that she was off to her mothers side peering back at him.
Arry reached out towards Milo as Phoreko snatched him away. What have I done... She hardly registered Mahina when she showed. All she could do was stare at Milo as a statue replaced her.

Come on, runt... Phoreko uttered as he swiped at his spawn with his disheveled tail. For a moment he felt a pang of regret, so far as beginning to crane his head backward to glance at his once brilliant nightingale. Despite this moment of weakness, he managed to retract within himself, a bellowing snarl reverberating from the depths of his throat as he quickened his strides enough so that an ample distance hedged between himself and his lover.
And with that barren land born as a wedge between them loomed most ominously, the Inbetween's gnashing maw devoured the two silhouettes, leaving the dirt beneath their paws all the more barren.
