Unfortunately, I haven't gotten the chance to read the books, but I've heard that the books are quite amazing, so hopefully I'll get to read them soon.

Books, all the way.

Don't get me wrong, I loved the movies. But there is simply so much more to the books, Not only that, but it really felt more like a literary epic.

I completely agree, but I have to say that the movie is awesome. If half as good a job had been done on Eragon, I'd be happy.

Oh gawd, the Eragon movie was awful, wasn't it? They signed on some really great actors, then set about thoroughly destroying any semblance of adherence to the book - and were confused that it didn't seem to do anywhere near as well as LOTR. Apparently someone decided that fantasy epics were major moneymakers, regardless of whether or not the plot was phoned in.
