Wesley nodded. "Yes that is much better." He moved aside when the adult came and looked around for Kwee who was a little ways away. "Don't you think she smells better?"
Kwee nodded and made a sound.
"See Kwee likes you more clean." He grinned at the now wet pup. He didn't care if he had helped in the wrong way. Even if the female pup was going to go in at sometime, that would have been to long.

Sloth stopped splashing around and took the adult's paw gratefully. She shook a little and plopped down on the dandy earth to tongue herself dry. "I'm glad you think so..." Thy mumbled between licks. Her fur was drying quickly in the breeze and sun so she had to work fast- the ends of the fur on her head were already starting to curl and poof.
"So I'm not a bother anymore right?" Thy asked and looked up from under her poofy 'bangs'. Before these two had come along, Thy had never actually spoken to another, be it Dragonfly, Flyzard or what. This could explain her horrid social skills and her lack of need to wash, but it definitely made her lonely.

Zelpha helped the pup to dry land and smiled somewhat timidly. What were the proper words in this situation? Were they "Are you okay?" or "That wasn't so hard, was it?" or "You smell much better now!"? In the end, Zelpha didn't say anything. She just stood around and watched.
As the child began to lick her fur to make it less puffy, Zelpha said, "A bother? You were never a bother, Thy." She turned to Wesley and Kwee and asked, "Did you two think she was a bother?"

Peering carefully at the now cleaner pup he smiles. "Nope, no longer a bother. It really was only the smell that was getting to me." He did want to push the pup back in the water because she was not all the way clean, but he let it go.
Kwee jumped around before making a sound that sounded like it was agreeing with Wesley.
Peering over at his friend he frowns a little. "Kwee you need to take a bath as well. You are all sticky from tree sap."
Kwee hopped down to the waters edge and peered at it for a moment then hopped in.
Nodding and turning back to the others Wesley smiles again. "Thy why is it that you didn't want to take a bath? A bath is a nice thing. Makes you all clean!"

Sloth continued to tame her curling fur, but glared at the other pup when he asked his question. As if the answer wasn't obvious enough... "Because it's too much effort. I have to bathe in cold water, and I have to make sure I don't turn into a fluff ball, which takes hours; but in the end I just get dirty minutes later!"
Thy looks herself over to make sure she didn't miss any spots before she heard the adult speak. Shocked by the response she almost topples over. Between her attitude, her smell and the fact that she's been nothing but a nuisance to thm since they met would make that answer obvious too. "Of course I was a bother! I've been nothing but rude and troublesome."

Zelpha blinked in puzzlement and shook her head. Rude? The pup thought she'd been rude? While it was true that Zelpha hadn't been among others in a time, she thought she'd still know rudeness. "I never thought you were a bother...." she murmured. She thought back on Thy's previous words and nodded. "I can see what you mean about it not being worth the effort. You do, after all, only get dirty again. If you don't like swimming, I can see how you wouldn't bathe too much," she observed quietly, watching Kwee in the pond.

Wesley rolled his eyes. "Then don't go and get dirty afterwards. Try to stay clean." He peered at the water for a moment then at Kwee who seems to enjoy splashing around in the water. "I make sure to have a bath once a day if not more. And it is normally after I'm done playing." He turned to peer at the adult to see what she was doing.

Thy growled a little at the pup's remark, "That's easier said than done..." Now that she was sure her fur was completely dry and not poofy, she stood and shook the shore sand off. "See I'm already dirty again," the pup mumbled.
She stretched her legs and then bowed to the adult, "Thank you Zelpha, You are the first person who had been around me for this long...I was wondering..." she addressed the three of them this time, "Would you guys be my play mates? Maybe I can be less...lazy if I have someone to remind me of that fact."

Zelpha nodded at Wesley thoughtfully and said. "I suppose you do have a point. I take a bath once a day as well. But that's a personal choice, I guess."
She turned towards Sloth as she addressed her and blinked in surprise. Play mates? She hadn't been anyone's play mate since she'd been a pup herself. Still, the little girl needed someone. She smiled warmly, the smiles coming more naturally now, and nodded. "Of course I'll stay around, for as long as you need me."

Wesley peered at the other pup and thought for a moment. "Well maybe... I guess I could put up with you if you tried to have a bath once an a while..." He looked away for a moment. "Or you can always have a bath when I do, then you will not forget. I have a playmate already, but I can always use more." He looked at the adult for a moment.
