I'm a newly-called Miamaids president, so I'm not much help on this issue, especially since I have 4 girls (a active, 2 inactive). We're all already in our own "clique" and working hard to get those last two girls back.

On this issue, I must concur that you ought to make her out to be innocent. The Savior said, when on the cross "Forgive, for they know not." Don't ever put some sinister plan to something that can be explained away with simple ingorance.

hmmm well if she seems to be plotting perhaps there is nothing to be done I know a girl who is now in YSA and she has a "fan club" of boys shes not very nice to them but as soon as they lose interest in her she's really nice to them. Shes a great person she's just a sought sfter girl whos not really interested in the member boys.... I supose all there really is that you can do is be her friend maybe some sweetness will rub off on her

I was called to be the Mia Maid President earlier this year. Our class is pretty small and the "cliques" aren't very strong, so I don't know how much help I'll be. In our class we're all pretty much friends. Some girls are closer than others, but we get along great. At camp the groups are more distinct, but we all are accepting of each other. I don't think there's any way to make two people like each other. It really depends on the girls. Usually activities and prayers are enough, but sometimes it's not.

I've been president for Beehives and Laurels and first counselor for Mia-Maids. When I was first counselor I was also a stake youth rep until our stake decided to no longer to have that position. Now I am in Enrichment.

Let me see, since there were only three girls in my old ward who were actually old enough I was Pres of Beehives and MiaMaids, now I am currently 2nd cousler of the Laurels.

We have a lot of different types of girls in my new ward. For one there are the "Artists" which consist of about three or four of us. Secondly there is the "Preps" (Or so we, the artists call them), who love school, sports, and socializing(sp?).

When-ever we have "activities" our leaders just plan more lessons. We were supposed to go caroling one night last month and we only got to sing at one house. By the time we hit the fourth house all of us wanted to go home as it was really degrading and depressing. We had the lights turned off at us at one of the houses!!! By the time we hit the fourth one the leaders finally decided to come out and say "This was how Joseph and Mary felt when they were refused three times". Sure, it was a good thing to do, but not for mutral!! No one wanted to come that much anymore. Mutral has become dull and boring, always lessons!!

((Sorry, now I'm ranting!! sweatdrop ))

Anyway, anyone got an ideas on how to have an actual FUN activity night? It seems that all the ideas we give the leaders, they morph into dull boring lessons.

Ahh...that's a common problem. The first and most important thing you need to do right now is pray. No matter how important/unimportant you think this calling is to you it is important to God. This prayer should be heartfelt and leave time for reflection. I honestly am suggesting a 15 min prayer/reflect/brainstorm time.

I had the similar problem before when the girls in my ward were getting clicky (They get into groups and don't socialize outside of it). What you need to do is hold some type of activity that involves all the girls and makes them talk nicely.

My favorite way is the sleepover. Have all the girls have a sleepover together and play group games. This will let the girls bond together. I suggest asking them to each bring their favorite snack to share. This cuts back on food costs AND it starts convo's about "wow that's my favorite too" and creates bonding. Make sure that the games you play will have all the girls participating.

Don't get discouraged. Heavenly Father has faith in you to know what the right thing to do for your girls is.

as to how to unite them once they are there...that's a little trickier. i personally struggled in that area myself because the girls all already had their cliques and had a hard time opening up to let more people in. the way to break that is by playing a game and putting everyone in a specific order, separating the best friends and finding ways for everyone to interact with the entire group, and not just their closer friends. play get-to-know-you games and offer prizes for knowing the most about someone they didn't know before.

hope that helps. smile

Try something like how we have a "Mix-It-Up" day at school. It's where you're assigned a seat at a certain table, outside of who you normally hang out with. Granted, at school it's a lot different, doing a spaghetti dinner or something like that could really help, I think. Make the goal to learn at least 4 new things about someone you don't normally talk to, through conversation, and the table who knows most about each other can win a prize, or something. I'm not really in the presidency, but our laurel class presidency hasn't been to church for the past few Sundays that I've been there, so I've had to conduct, and help out with almost everything.

That was what my YW's class was like. It was horrible. During girls camp some girls (myself included... sweatdrop ) wrapped a particular cabin with yarn. Then ALL the girls cabins were TPed on the inside. Our Adult Leaders didn't care what we did. The fourth years had NO adult leader. It was a mess! Then, thankfully, we got new leaders, who were interested in the girls, and that in turn, made the YW pres. more interested in sticking around. What makes girls bond together is getting down to the basics, actually trying to see eye to eye and taking yourself to their level of sight, not expecting for them to see through your eyes. You can do surprise kidnappings and treat a young women to I-Hop on her birthday or something. Do a fun activity like bowling. Suggest to your leaders when they assign groups for activities, or cabin/tent partners at girls camp, that they pray about it. Pray for the girls in your ward or class/jurisdiction. Pray for the Spirit to be present and to guide your thoughts on what to do. And pray for understanding to see these girls, not as girls in a clique, but as daughters of God. Everything begins and ends with the Spirit. As long as the Lord is present in your doings, it will turn out for the better.

My Laurels class hasn't had a president for a long time.. I was 2nd councelor, but the president moved a while back, then the 1st counselor had to go to relief society because she turned 18 and was in college. So, now there are only 3 girls in my laurels class, and they keep forgetting that we need a presidency.
Before that I was Mia Maid president, and Beehive secretary and counselor. Young Womens is a crazy thing...
