It was not very good, but Zooey Deschanel is my future non-wife so I was forced to watch. xp They were definitely inspired by steampunk even if it was not entirely steampunk.

It was actually a mini-series on TV. I loved it.

This has me curious has anyone here ever seen Return to Oz?

Tik Tok the Wheelers, the clothing and machines. That was like the first "dark" sort of Disney movie I had ever seen.

Now, that sound's like an interesting mini-series. Pity I'm probably never going to see it, since our local stations can be pretty picky about what movies/series to import. And unless it was successful in the US, chances are rather slim. sad

Lady Bem, Return to Oz actually was the movie that first came to mind upon reading the topic. I really loved that one - and always wondered why I seemed to be the only one. But since it was the same with Black Cauldron, I just guess Disney's target audience really prefers happy shiny tinkle winkle shows... xp

I need to get it on DVD, I have it on VSH somewhere in a closest and I loved it. Actually Disney did have a few dark/horror movies out that just didn't get the same popularity as the glittery child friendly stuff.

The Watcher in the Woods. Something Wicked this Way Comes. Child of Glass but that was a TV movie. Until I grew older to know better I wasn't aware of how 'scary' Disney could be or how much of a horror/thriller nut I was.

But still if anyone does get around to it Return to Oz is a pretty good movie with a young Fairuza Balk. This is one of those movies I hope they never get the bright idea to remake.

I really liked it, it was a dark take on the story without going overboard. Id like to spend a day in whoever wrote its head i bet it would be fun in there.
