Doto nodded, playing the attentive student dutifully. He had mischief in his red eyes, but he was behaving himself. He had asked her to show him, to teach him, and though he thought it was a bit silly, and just slightly hard on his pride, he wanted to learn from her. So they were nearly the same age, and she was a girl: she had information he didn't. Skills he wanted. And they were friends, so it wouldn't be that hard for him.
Right?
He nodded again. Never show your back. That made perfect sense. He watched her, grinning, wondering if he would be able to catch her with her back to him at some time. That would be fun.
"That makes sense. I don't see many prey beasts kicking butt. But lions would probably rather run than fight. That's a good thing to remember. Not to underestimate an opponent." He grinned, looking up at the sky.

Giza grinned and nodded, glad that Doto was following her thus far. She had never really tried to be a teacher before, so this was a whole new ball game for her. But so far, she had given a good tip. And where was a better place to start than that?
"Now... um..." She looked thoughtful scratching her head, "Ah! So you know never to turn your back, but not all lions know that kind of thing. So if someone turns their back on you, that's the best place to start. Because you never know what someone will be like to their face. Face to face. Yeah, that one. Best to get people when their back is turned. Someone might call you a coward for it, but no one can call you one if they're dead."
That had been an important lesson. Pride, honour... one should always have a code, but one should never put them in the way of surviving. And Giza was a big fan of the idea of survival. Life would be no good at all if you weren't around to live it.
"I mean, that's important for prey beasts too and all that. But it's usually even better to go right at a bigger creature's back. Gives you an exellent advantage. And lions might not be expecting a trap. Lions can be tricked, and don't nessesarily think you're going to attack them." She mentioned, knowing that trickery was a good way of getting the upper hand as well.
More so now that she had been one of those who had been tricked.

He nodded, contemplating this new idea. He had always thought, as many must have, that attacking someone while their back was turned was a bit cowardly. But then, he had also always felt it justified. There was no one in the world without cowardice, and a bit of caution went a long way in staying alive. Ultimately it was a form of planning, a show of thought and care. A good plan never failed, and if it called for a bit of cowardice then there was no harm in it.
Reputations, after all, were far more lasting than flesh. To kill something and be called a coward for it was, in Doto's eyes, easier to fix than to die bravely. And, in his line of play, he didn't imagine anyone would call him brave if he died doing what he loved to do. It wasn't noble. It was cruel. It was torture. No, being brave was reckless and pointless. The intelligent beast knew when to play a more careful hand.
He nodded again, this time grinning as his red eyes flashed.
"That all makes sense. Good sense. Perfect sense. I like the way you're being taught. I think I will definitely be learning a lot from you in times to come. And I'm excited about it! This is a new kind of game for us, I think, but still fun. But I need to go hunt with my brothers, since I promised them I would at least keep them company, but we'll meet again soon? Same place, as always?"

Giza grinned, batting playfully at her friend's head. She was glad that what she had told him had been interesting and useful. Honestly she had just been reciting lessons off the top of her head, and was amazed she had remembered anything worth saying. She certainly wouldn't have called herself a teacher... and honestly, the idea of being anything of the sort disgusted her.
"Same time, same place, always!" She agreed, simply thrilled by the idea. But she was equally glad to find that her bad mood had been lifted. Because there was always one person she could count on not to betray her, and that was Doto. He was her friend, a real friend, and he wouldn't turn on her... not like those women had. He was her family now.
"Next week probably... I'm not sure what the family will be doing in the meantime." She agreed happily, waving to him, "And Doto... thanks. For making me feel better. It..." She wasn't sure what else to say on that affect, so she just finished with, "Well, thanks. See you next week!" And then she skipped off back home.
Now she had something more... 'postive' to direct her energy towards.

Doto smiled despite himself, watching her go. He tilted his head and didn't move until she was out of sight, as if he were concerned that her bad mood might come back with a vengeance and he just had to be sure he was no longer needed. It would do neither of them any good if the affects of this meeting weren't a bit more lasting than that. Truthfully, he was just watching his friend go home, without any real reason or justification for it.
Satisfied that she would be fine, and they would find a way to get the revenge he knew she so desperately needed, he stood to make his own way home. He smiled to himself, thinking about her thank you. He hadn't said anything in response, simply nodding and grinning at her confidently, but he had wanted to. It all seemed too silly or superficial, and he didn't trust his vocabulary enough to keep him from looking like a goofy idiot.
He was glad she felt better, though, and, more importantly, glad that it had been him to do it. For all he said, he knew he was not going to be one of those that couldn't be trusted. He knew he was going to stay true, and do what needed to be done. For them. For her. He was her friend, and she was one of the few, if not the only, friends he had. That meant a lot to him. She meant a lot to him.
He wouldn't let anyone, her family or complete strangers, hurt her like that and get away with it.
Thinking about all the games he might one day get a chance to play, he hummed to himself as he padded home. Even he was in a better mood, and he hadn't been that grumpy to begin with. He was definitely looking forward to their next encounter.
END!
(We're gonna need to get another RP between... any of our guys... rolling again. =O)
