Anima couldn't help but look up. Oooh... Prett-- But she tore her eyes off of it before the confusion took a firm hold. The stadium wobbled. Ah, darn it.
"Keep it up! Brick Break!"
Anima charged in what was hopefully Portal's direction, ready to do some damage with the new Fighting type attack.

Finally she was seeing some results! But the opponent still had an HP advantage and it would be a while before that was fixed. In the mean time though, it looked like Portal was inching to do some payback and she was going to grant that oppertunity to her.
"Ok, use Faint attack now!"
Portal gave a bark of satisfaction before disappearing. An instant later, she reappeared behind the still confused Furret and launched herself towards her in a full body tackle.

Anima shook her head, clearing the confusion, then darted to one side just in time. She did not much like this battle...
"Brick Break!" Renekai repeated.
Anima slipped forward once more, attacking with teeth and claws.

Portal fell forward as she unexpectedly dodged the Faint Attack and gave a small "umph!" Without any time to get up, the Brick break smashed her on the back and she let out a small cry.
This was one of those times that she wished that Umbreon could learn a fighting attack or something of the sort. But the best thing they have right now was confusion...
"Another Confuse Ray! And let's hope it sticks this time..." Lizzy muttered the last part quietly to herself.
Portal climbed back onto her feet, trying to show any sign of struggle, and threw her another bright light. This was really getting tiring...

Anima squeaked her frustration as she felt, once again, confused. Why couldn't the pretty light stay away?
Renekai shook her head. Leave it to Anima to look at the ball almost every single time. "Do your best with a Rock Smash!"
Anima bared her teeth before charging once more.

Lizzy was a bit disappointed that the confusion wasn't lasting long enough to do some real damage but it was better than nothing. She better switch things up so Portal won't get tired off all this.
"Faint attack!"
She smirked as she made herself vanish again. This time, she promised to herself that she wouldn't miss and hurled herself at the Furret... from above. It took a while to climb the lamppost but she did it and it would certainetly take her by surprise!

Anima didn't see her coming and took a critical hit on the back. Writhing in pain, Anima managed to drag herself away before she could get even more hurt.
"Hang in there, Anima! Rock Smash!"
Anima darted forward again. This battle was getting really frustrating!

Lizzy didn't exactly approve of her non-conventional attack but it worked better than she expected... and Portal was getting her butt kicked again so she use another Confuse ray.
"You know what to do!" She hoped.
Portal knew but didn't like it. Skidding against the pavement, she stood up and decided to do something different. Just to annoy her by-the-book trainer. Instead of creating a sphere of light, she formed it into some sort of monster before launching it at Anima.

It took a lot of willpower for Anima not to stop and watch the interesting formation of light, but she had experienced it a few times too many.

Lizzy didn't say anything in response to Portal's odd choice of attack, but she knew she was going to talk with her later. In the mean time, it seemed unlikely that she was going to score tons of critical hits or the Furret was going to get sand in her eye and miss, so she better stick to the current strategy.
"An actual confuse ray this time please!"
Portal hissed when she took the Brick break and stumbled over. It was actually quite comfortable on the ground, compared to the pain she was feeling when standing up. Therefore, she was lying down when she launched the whatever-number-it-was confuse ray at Anima.

Don't look. Don't look. Don't look. Don-- OOOH SHINY! Anima sat up on her hind legs, mesmerized by the Confuse Ray.
Renekai put her face in her hands. Oh, Anima... How many times would this happen? "Rock Smash, and please hit the Umbreon this time..."
Okay, now Anima was mad. She hated being confused. She picked a direction at random and attacked.

One more hit and Portal would be down. Lizzy didn't like the odds but she couldn't give up yet. Who knows? They might have a stroke of luck...
"Bite!"
Portal almost didn't get up from the next attack that struck her. But she still had some fight left in her, and in a mad dash she leaped at the Furret with her teeth beared.

This was it. If Anima could land this attack, it would all be over. "Come on, Anima... Concentrate... Brick Break."
Anima flinched as the critical attack landed. Meany! She lashed out with a Brick Break.

That was a close one! Lizzy hoped that their luck would last, even though it most likely wouldn't. But they should make the best of it then.
"Faint attack!" She ordered, changing things up a bit.
Portal, with her own version of a war cry, disappeared again in an instant. There was a moment of silence, since she didn't feel like attacking her right away, before she materialized and leaped on her again.
