"I do random metal work. Artistic mostly. Though as of late I have taken a particular interest in bells. You would be hard pressed to meet a Pan'Lun who could make a bell with a sweeter sound." Zephyiote nodded proudly, but her smile fell a little when he asked her what kind of sorcery she was into. "Oh, well...I do...interesting things. Magic, but not in the sense you are familiar with, I can assure you that."

Zephyiote stared at him quizically. Seiki was quite bizarre to be sure. But Zephyiote loved it. He was most amusing. He wasn't stuck up, or obnoxious or anything, and seemed to actually enjoy some of her less than desirable features. "Actually, that is quite a good question. I do not sleep in the normal sense, and yes, I can sleep with my eyes open. I am most comparable to a dolphin or whale in the regards that I go into a half sleep, but if there is a disturbance in the area around me, I can see it, and instantly wake up, and either relocate myself, or drive away whatever the disturbance was."

"Haha. I have been on quite the good adventure or two. Perhaps I should tell you some time...It would be best if you decided our location. I am not particularly aquainted with the surrounding terrain. I think I should like to take a short stay in your residence. Assuming it was alright with you, of course." She stood and opened her wings slightly, in preparation for take-off, should he decide to lead her. She would much prefer to get inside before the sun rose.

Bells. He was curious. Where did she stash her bells once she created them. Did she gift them to people or did she hide them somewhere and check on them every now and again. "I am interested in seeing your bells at some point in time. May I see them?" He watched her as her face fell slowly. He guessed that the witch craft was a touchy subject. Making a mental note to never request information about it again he nodded at her. "I understand. I guess it is touchy for you. Just disregard the question." He smiled then looked away.

"That is so awesome! Hah. I should keep you around as some sort of body guard. I wouldn't ever have to feel unsafe when asleep because I would have you close!" He looked at her with a smirk as he stretched he wings and body. Getting ready for the flight to his home. "What do you say? I will feed you and water you and hug you and cuddle you.." he couldn't keep it up and suddenly burst into a fit of laughter. "I wasn't being serious." he said in between gasps for air "You seem to need the outdoors and travel. It is a very good ability to have though, especially if you travel around a lot. I know I will feel more at ease today because you are in my company." He gave her a thumbs up as he took off into the sky. He wouldn't waste anymore time. The sun was going to be out soon and he would rather be hidden before that time.

"Okay, Follow me into the Jungle of sleep! I think you will like my little cave. Very interesting. I like to collect things that I find interesting. I use them to decorate and make art with. Did you know that there is a kind of mud that you can work into designs and jars by the small streams in the Jungle of Sleep? I didn't until I got stuck." He looked over at her as he picked up some speed along with some height. He would show her his pots and shiny rocks. Maybe even surprise her with a gift. He had found a large scattering of gold in one of the streams near his cave and always kept an eye on the stream to make sure no painter or creature came to disturb the area. It was his well kept secret and an area he treasured. Maybe she can make a bell with some of it... so long as she promises to keep the stream a secret. Thinking about it for several seconds he shook his head. No.. I will show her some other time.

Zephyiote simply smiled as she listened to him talk. He sure was an energetic, happy fellow. Quite chatty. But Zephyiote didn't mind. It was too far and few in between that she had pleasant company."I cannot imagine what kind of creature would thin to bother you as it is. But I suppose anything would think twice if it saw me." she chuckled and shook her head, promptly taking off after Seiki. She didn't bother to use her wings, Pan'Lun flight would be fine for now. She assumed they wouldn't be going far, since he seemed to think they could make it there before sun-up.

"I have a room and a workshop back at the temple where I...reside...I keep all the products of my craft and hobby there. Indeed, I could bring you something sometime, if you wish. It is not like I have a use for all of them myself. As for food and drink...I must thank you greatly. I am in fact quite parched. A good drink and a small supper, or breakfast as it maybe, sounds quite alluring at the moment. I commend your hospitality Seiki. Most wound not see fit to remain in my presence, let alone show me generosity and pleasantry."

"Some of the painters at the temple work with pottery, but I was never very good at it. I did not know there was any clay, or mud or whatever you speak of in the jungle. We travel a great distance to acquire ours."

He halfheartedly smiled as he glided on the airwaves, if she only knew how he had been treated before. It had been awful. Lips pressed tightly together as his childhood memories flooded in. Both mother and father thought him weak and strange for not wishing to take the life of other animals in order to feed. Thought him strange for choosing a diet of plants and insects along with the occasional fish and finding sculpture to be a lot more entertaining than the 'thrill of the hunt'. For these strange mannerisms Seiki had been outcast at a very young age to live in the jungle. Crushing his eyelids together to hold back the sting of tears he shook his head.

"I am sorry. I just thought about what I had said and it was rather rude of me, please forgive me." His voice was soft and watery from fighting back tears but he still looked back a her to show that he truly meant what he had said. He learned very quickly that truth had to look you in the eyes and that was the only way he treated it.

A small smile cut through the teary eyed male. For her to offer something like that was more than he could have hoped for. Such kindness he had not found in a rather long time. "I would treasure your gift for a lifetime Miss Zephyiote. I know that you do not like that place very much and know how special a gift it truly is because of that." They were almost towards the beginning of the Jungle of sleep. Scrub forest now slowly fading in the back of them like a distant memory, they would be there soon, although the sun might catch them before that point.

"It is my duty to offer those who show me kindness kindness in return. You are a very interesting character and someone that I already respect and I know I myself am hungry. I do have to ask though, what do you wish to eat?" Thoughts slowly drifted to his three jug, two filled to spring water and the other the juice of several different fruits. He would have to offer some of his fruit juice, he himself preferred it after all.

Finally they were passing trees but the sun was starting to wake causing the very edge of the earth to pale to a soft purple in comparison to the midnight blue it had been. "I myself eat off the lands. Nuts, vegetation and fruits. Sometimes the insects. I don't mind others eating meat, but I rather not take life if it isn't needed." Looking over his shoulder he watched her glide with the pan'lun magic. It was a brilliant sight to see. "I am sorry to say but we might not get to my den before daybreak. Do you wish to walk through the jungle to avoid the light of keep to the skies?"

}~{Seiki is quite charming wink }~{

Zephyiote was silent for a moment, as she regarded her companion with new found admiration. Her eyes contained a sparkle of sympathy, and regret that she was unable to help her host with what was so obviously bothering him. There seemed more to this male than smiles and charm. Some inner demon plagued him.

Zephyiote set herself to be in a good mood, in the hopes that it might rub off on him. It was one thing for her to be sad, but Zephyiote couldn't stand it in others. Despite her garish and grotesque outward appearence, Zephyiote had a heart of gold, with compassion being one of her defining characteristics. "When in Rome," she said with a shrug. She was willing to try his 'eating off of the land'. After all, curiousity was a mark of the Pan'Lun. Even if it proved she did not like the food, it would not be for lack of trying.

Rather than respond to his last question, she dipped below the trees at the first opportunity, sliding into a landing that crossed over into a steady trot. Her wings were held close to her body, to keep them from being caught on any stray branches or whatnot. The foliage was much denser in the jungle than the scrub forest, to be sure. All sorts of brambles and things longing to catch hold of sensitive wing membranes.

She slowed down slightly to wait for Seiki. It wouldn't do to have her running off on her oh so pleasant host. Already her day proved to be a good one. It wasn't often that she was offered such nice companionship.

(( Thanks. I wanted him to be a very kind, caring and artistic painter. ))

Eyes widened as a sudden rush of wind chilled his back. It had seemed his companion had decided it would be best to hide from the sun which he was more than happy about. The reflection from his scales would surely cause him some trouble otherwise. It was true though, he felt much safer in her company than flying alone. This feeling alone caused his chest to swell with happiness, he wouldn't have to worry much today for he gained a most valuable friend.

Seikis eyes scanned the treetops quickly, trying to find an opening large enough to slip through fairly easily without having to worry about his wings getting torn apart nor worry about loosing Zephyiote. Again his eyes scanned the treetops, but found nothing larger enough to fit both his wingspan and body.

Should I risk it?

He would. He would dive down like penguin and hopefully spread his wings just before hitting the ground, if he messed up though, he most definitely would be eating dirt. If only there had been a river in the area instead of a small stream.

"I will be down momentarily. I am going to have to dive through the trees."

A large quantity of air was taken in as the male prepared himself for the slightly dangerous stunt and then with a quickly snap of wings he dove down through the treetops, his body quickly gaining speed as he continued to fall.

Four more seconds... Three... Two...

FWOSH

His wings spread quickly, stopping him from falling to the ground face first. He beat his wings slowly, allowing him to land on the ground gently, the wet muddy earth squishing between his toes. The scent of the jungle and the feel of the earth caused the male to shiver with excitement. It had been a long day, and it was wonderful to be back.

"I had an idea. Do you like the tang of citrus?" Plans for the day ahead rattled around in his head and one in particular had to do with a very large tangy fruit that grew nearby. If she was willing to eat off the land then he would make her the best meal possible. Maybe a small leafy and fruity salad with a meal of bean sprouts, nuts and grub. Even a fish if she wished.

Zephyiote fell back on her haunches when Seiki dove down through the trees like that. She clapped her hands together, smiling hugely. "Well done Seiki!" she cheered, laughing. It was a bit of a hazardous stunt, to dive through the trees like that. But he seemed no worse for the wear. And it had been amusing, if a bit startling.

She stood back up, her head cocked to the side in the way it did when curiousity struck her. "Why, yes. I happen to be quite fond of citrus. Is there a source nearby?" she looked around, as if she might spot the offending fruit in the vicinity. Her attention returned quickly to Seiki, however. Strange as he was, wasn't she herself stranger? It was nice to have company she could relate to, for a change.

She took a step closer to him, peering intently at his hide. "I must say, that is quite an unusual pattern." She quickly stepped back, smiling sheepishly. "I am sorry. I did not mean to invade your personal space. I guess I was just a bit curious." She shrugged, as if dismissing it as just another one of her 'quirks'.

A sudden flash of heat from his face caused the male to look down in embarrassment. She looked oddly adorable cheering for him like that, sort of like how his old friend Corilin used to be. Always cheering him on even though the clan told her not to encourage him. A lip turned upward at the fond memory before falling after a few moments. He would have to see her and her two adorable children some time. Looking back towards Zephyiote the male gave a soft smile.

“You remind me of one of my old friends. Of course you are very different from her as well and most certainly smarter but still kind and gentle. I like that about you. Stay that way. Don’t let someone beat you down and cause you to loose your kindness.”

His eyes flashed suddenly as he watched the female look about the jungle in an attempt to locate the fruit. So, the love of the sweet and tangy citrus fruit ran both ways! His eye shimmered brightly as his excitement poured all around him. They could go to the stream and pick the fruits, eat some (or most), and take the rest back to his cave to make not only a large salad but some extra juice. Tail flicking wildly he broke out into a toothy grin. “YES! I love love love the taste of citrus. There a many trees that grow the fruit very close to here. We can stop and get some water as well and eat some of the fruit we pick. The jungle is a wonderful umbrella as far as the light is concerned. “ He hadn’t noticed until she was fairly close to him that she had been examining his markings he jumped slightly.

“Don’t worry about it, I don’t mind, really!” He lifted onto two legs, spread his wings out wide and twirled around once to show himself off. He really was proud of his markings. One good thing mother and father gave to him. “My markings are from the combination of fathers black body and mirror white stripes and mothers starry coloring. “ Brows furrowed for a moment as he clawed at his mind to find out what they had called his coloring.

Nebula Tiger. A little awkward but it did fit.

"So, shall we get going?"

Zephyiote looked curious for a moment, her lips pursing as a question started to form on her tongue, before she stopped, and decided against it. She smiled instead. "I am glad I remind you of something pleasant." she chuckled at some memory or thought. "I usually have quite the opposite effect on people." There was a twinge of sadness in pain hidden 'neath her good natured words and brilliant smile. Years of torment still festering. But she refused to let that get to her now. Refused to bother Seiki with such trivialities.

"Kindness has an off way of showing up where it is least expected..." she trailed off, staring at something seemingly over his shoulder, but a slight glassy gleam to her eye gave away the fact that she really watched nothing at all, but hinted at a deeper meaning to her words.

Her smile flickered for a moment, replaced not by a frown, but slightly parted lips, distant looking, absent. Quickly though this too dissipated, perhaps as if it had never existed in the first place. Her smile returned though, quite easily, to her pleasant suprise, at seeing him so excited. What a strange and wonderful feeling it was to know that she could make someone else happy! "I would love to have such a pleasant sounding meal. You seem well versed in the ways of the jungle. I must admit, the smell is quite pleasant...floral and...tangy. Though perhaps that is because there are citrus trees nearby..."

She scratched absently at one of her ears with her left forepaw, observing the enviroment around her. It certainly was pleasant... She watched with enthusiasm as he showed himself off. Quite brilliant. "Pan'Lun are known to have an affinity for astrology. While I myself never took a liking to the scientific aspect of it, I always loved the beauty it held. Perhaps that is why I find your pelt so pleasing. Thank you for your patience with me." She gave a slight bow of her head, showing the proper respect she was taught, especially after invading his privacy and space like that.

"After you, of course!" she teased, grinning all the while.

A c**k of the head was all that Seiki did in response to Zephyiote. Why did it seem like she was holding back with him. He didn't mind her nor was he bothered by her stories. it almost hurt that she did trust him or felt afraid to bother him with her memories. Brows furrowed in frustration before the male walked over to her and placed a paw on her shoulder for a couple of seconds before letting go.

"You don't have to worry about hurting my feelings or feel that you are bothering me with the past. I heard it helps when you talk to others about it." He backed up some before catching the send of a fruit close by, looking up he then noticed a baseball sized red fruit growing. Boy did that bring back a memory.

Gently picking himself off the ground he plucked two fruits from the tree and then landed. "Here. I call them the red gem fruit. It was one of the first things I found in the jungle when I was forced to leave my tribe. Eat it. It reminds of kindness. Sour sometimes, and then very sweet." he took a small bite as he watched her. They could leave soon, but he first wanted to make sure she actually trusted him. It wasn't nearly as fun when you are with someone who you were still unsure of.

"There is no need to bow Zephyiote. I enjoy your company and don't even need patience in order to be with you because of that. I like that you are interesting and fun to talk to." A smile accompanied his words as he waiting for a few minutes before slowly making his way towards the river. He would have to show her how to fully lighten up, and the best place was the crystal blue river where the tangy fruit grew.

"Okay then, better keep up!" and with that he was off, winding through the trees, his snout held high and a smile wide.

}~{Hrm...what with this valentines stuff going on...and breeding slots offered...if you'd have any interest in pairing Zephyiote and Seiki, I'd be more than willing heart }~{

It wasn't normal for Zephyiote to come into any sort of physical contact with another, unless it was a fight. So when Seiki touched her so, in such an intimate, friendly, and calm fashion, she shivered a little, eyes wide as she held in a peculiar light. Who...was this guy? She couldn't take her eyes from him as he plucked the fruit from the tree. Even the soft, sweet smell it gave off did little to distract her. She was confused. Just when it seemed nothing could take her attention away from him, she inclined her head a little to take a bite from the fruit, still watching him.

The fruit was soft and velvety on her tongue, sweet, but almost...bittersweet? It tasted of evening stars in a cloudy sky, of rain on a summer night, the feel of wind on her mane, and the taste of tears. It was strange enough to make her forget her intense fascination with Seiki, and revel in the way the flavor dipped and rolled in her mouth. Soft one moment and crescendoing another. She looked back at him, eyes ablaze with reflection and amazement. "This is...amazing. Never in my life can I recall having something like this," she whispered quitely, as if this was some great secret she was confiding in him. This feeling of quite revelation was short lived though.

Zephyiote was always very competetive. Seeing Seiki race off was all the motivation she needed. She crammed the rest of the fruit into her mouth, trying to enjoy its taste while running. Thankfully, a slender, serpentine build helped greatly when manuevering in forest. She swallowed the remainder of her fruit and laughed, loud and full, a brilliant peal of rainbow birdsong, as if to greet the day and all the life around her. "I will catch you yet Seiki!" she yelled ahead to him.

PostPosted: Wed Feb 11, 2009 7:11 pm

(( I would be happy to pair up the two. <3 Would you like me to pm you to discuss how we will go about replying to the prompt? ))

He knew he was in trouble now as he raced towards the water, dark paws catch the ground for a split second before ripping upward to launch himself forward. He had to get to the water before Zephyiote did, or at least try to. There they would pick oranges and play for hours in the bright blue water before heading back to his den.

Laughing to himself as he weaved about the trees and overgrown brush Seiki clicked his tongue, "Of course you will, but do you know where we are going?!" He snickered as he passed a fairly large tree, the smell of water and citrus thickening as he pressed forward. They would be there soon, and boy would she be surprised by what she would see.

"Come one slow poke, let's get a move on!"

This was how is should be. Carefree, enjoyable and happy. She didn't need to be sad any longer, she needed to enjoy her life. As he raced against himself, the jungle and Zephyiote he promised himself he would make her happy.

}~{Yes, that would be lovely heart }~{

Zephyiote's claws gouged grooves in the soft soil with each thud of her paw against the earth. Dirt flew behind her in a torrent as she sought to propel herself ever faster. As he pointed out, she didn't really know where she was going. But that wasn't a big deal. This was more for fun than anything. And besides, he had the advantage of knowing the terrain. Aside from what she saw immediately in front of her, she knew nothing of the lay of the land. Once, when she had a particular surge of speed, she got close enough to n** at his tail. But she was still a few inches behind, and the click of her teeth came up just short of their goal.

"Do not play nice just because I am a girl now!" she teased, not having to be very loud, considering the lack of distance between them. Zephyiote took note of the now undeniable smells of both water and fruit. The whole jungle seemed alive with delicious smells, and curious sounds. A wonderland to explore, surely.

It was...interesting how easy it was to forget her worries around Seiki. Like her problems had no substance around this happy, if a little odd, painter. Oh, how she loved it. Never could she recall having so much fun. And having such a new experience. It was like...an entirely different life. She was no longer Zephyiote the monster. She was a being. Someone with feelings who one could empathize with. It was...wonderful...
PostPosted: Wed Feb 11, 2009 10:30 pm

Eyes grew wide as he pushed himself forward, was she seriously trying to bite his tail?! Not daring to look around and find out the male pushed his body faster, avoiding almost everything in his path. He had lived in this jungle for most of his life. He knew what was where without having to look at it, he felt it, and love it.

They would be there in a matter of seconds and boy was he excited to see her face when she took the fall with him off the cliff into the deep blue water. It had been one of his first adventures when he started exploring, and he wanted it to be hers as well.

I will share this memory with her... hopefully she will like it as much as I had.

A huge grin appeared as he caught sight of the first citrus fruit tree. Three more feet and they would drop. "I hope you are ready for this missy!" A laugh escaped him as he took one last step on land and flew through the air, deep blue water all below him as he braced himself for the cold shock.

They were finally there. He had never felt so happy to be able to share such a perfect memory with her.

I hope you find this place as amazing as I do.

Zephyiote tried very hard to always retain a certain amount of grace in her movements. If she couldn't look beautiful, she could at least act like she did. However, she wasn't expecting what came next, and wasn't exactly at the top of her game. She saw the lip of the cliff just as she hurtled over it. She dug her claws into the ground, trying to break in time, but it was less than effective, and only sent her careening headfirst over the edge. She shrieked right as she hit the water, the water flying around her in a trenmendous splash. It didn't take her long to resurface, water dripping from her mane and feathers, and looking quite bewildered.

After a moment though, she cracked a huge smile, and laughed loudly. "I must admit Seiki, you got me there!" she was so preoccupied in her amusement, she didn't notice the water at all, nor the surroundings. She was oblivious to the treasure trove of gold all around her, and of the food practically begging to be picked from the trees.
