It certainly did amuse Renekai. She was laughing as she watched Dakota's fruitless efforts. "Does she do this all the time?" she asked, trying to catch her breath.

Anima, on the other hand, did not find this amusing at all. What was the point if you were limited to land? You couldn't reach the fish. Instead, Anima acted like she had never done a childish thing in her life and sat up, tall and proper, and began to lick her fur dry. Let the silly Growlithe play with the fish; Anima had work to do. In another moment, Anima was walking off, tail and nose high in the air, and went to explore another part of the park.

Renekai laughed at Anima. "If she doesn't get what she wants, she moves on to something else as if she hadn't a care in the world..." The actions distinctly reminded Renekai of a cat pokemon. It seemed that Anima was a whole combination of things!

"Always," Phoebe chuckled out, eyes drifting along after the Furret. Apparently Renekai's Pokemon was as fickle as Persian. Not letting this fact bother her, she continued to explain a bit: "Dakota has always enjoyed herding things, but she usually is most intrigued by fishies and..." Here she paused, then carefully spelled out the other creature-type: "B-I-R-D-S."

She knew if she had said the word rather than spelling it, she would have distracted her puppy Pokemon. "Either way, I don't mind her doing this, since she and Venus both get good exercise this way."

Speaking of Venus and exercise, despite being in the middle of the pond area, she began to drift slightly to one edge. Dakota, seeing this as a change in her favor, ran to that side and barked out "Growl growl growl!"

Though Venus preferred not playing this game, she did have the natural instincts of other fish Pokemon. The sudden movement sometimes caused her to react, and such a case caused her to swim towards the opposite side of the pond, which the Puppy was easily able to go around and chase the Feebas.

At that moment, Renekai made two mistakes: One, she dropped a pokeball, which burst open at the impact. Two, she said quite loudly, "She herds birds, too?" Normally, this would not be such a horrible thing. The problem, however, was that the pokeball was Bell's, and Bell was a Delibird.

Bell glared around with her purple eyes, but decided not to attack anyone. After all, this was not another battle field, as she had first expected. Bell merely sorted through her bag of berries, making sure none had been bruised after the pokeball had dropped.

While this was going on, Anima was trailing an old scent of a pichu. the trail was a day or two old, but the small mouse pokemon would be fun to chase if it showed up.

"Uh oh..." was all Renekai could say.

Rather quick on the uptake, Dakota perked her head at the mention of another fun thing to chase. Her brown eyes darted this way and that, searching for mentioned creature. Bird, bird, where was the bird?

Then her eyes met Bell's. The Growlithe's nub began to wag, and she let out a forceful bark: "GROWL! GROWL! GROWL!" Not realizing it would be rude to take up chase to a new Pokemon, the black puppy Pokemon darted towards the bird Pokemon.

Under the water, the fish Pokemon almost seemed to sigh out "Bass..." She was off the hook for now, and she'd take advantage of this time to merely just hoover over the same spot towards the middle of the pond. It was so much safer here than towards the edges near that annoying puppy!

The red head ruffled her own hair as all these situations began to unravel before the trainers. "Wow! Yer a rather unlucky one... lesson one: Dakota has a short attention span. She can get distracted by several words if you mention them."

Bell squawked and glared imperiously at the Growlithe. What was wrong with it? Instead of flying, however, she merely moved her bag away and prepared to attack. Maybe this was a battle, after all! She glared at her trainer for a moment with a gaze that seemed to say, You're next. Then she returned her attention to the approaching puppy.

"Bell, I'm sorry!" Renekai said, fumbling for the pokeball. If she could return the Delibird before any damage was done... Where was that pokeball? Bell had stolen her pokeball and stashed it away in her bag, though Renekai did not know it.

Wow! There was a first for everything. And for Dakota, it would be the first time she'd be able to catch the birdy...

"Dakota, come 'ere!" her trainer called out. It might have sounded casual, but it was a command.

The fire type stopped in her tracks, then returned to her trainer with her ears lowered. All she wanted to do was catch the birdy! When she arrived to her trainer's feet, she lay down with a bit of a grunt of disapproval.

Had the Pokemon not been another trainer's, Phoebe probably would have let the Growlithe do as she wished. Yet, it was impolite to just let her Pokemon do as it wished to a trained Pokemon. In consolation, the red-head attempted to distract her Pokemon. "That was a good girl, Dakota! Let's get ya a treat!"

Mission distract Dakota was a success. Her ears perked up immediately at the mention of a treat, and her nub began to wag.

The trainer had yet to apologize to the bird Pokemon, but she figured the most important thing to do was to distract the puppy while she could.

Bell relaxed slightly and wandered off in a random direction on foot, her bag trailing behind her. She was off to look for berries.

"Bell!" Renekai called. "Bell, come back!" But it was no use. Without the Delibird's pokeball, she had no control. Renekai sighed, saying, "I wish that my pokemon were as disciplined as Dakota. It would sure make a few things easier..." Renekai laughed.

Anima gave up on the pichu and came trotting back at the word 'treat'. Was there a treat for her? She liked treats! Anima wagged her tail furiously and stared with puppy eyes at Renekai. This trick usually worked.

"Oh, Anima!" Renekai laughed, patting her Furret on the head. "I think I've got something you'll like, too."

Phoebe's eyes momentarily glanced off to the Delibird as it just merely waddled away. However, her blue eyes couldn't stay lingering long if she wanted to keep her own Pokemon's attention. However, she couldn't help but debate having Dakota chase that bird for the heck of it now. Her hand reached into the pocket of her rubbery pants and out she pulled a small chunk of Miltank cheese.

"Give me yer paw" the trainer commanded, to which the Growlithe was more than content with doing as requested. It meant she'd get her treat. And treats were quite yummy.

Phoebe took the puppy Pokemon's paw in her hand and rubbed it a little bit before she held the treat a bit to her side. The black puppy Pokemon didn't even glance over to it. "Good... go ahead and take it!"

That was the signal Dakota was looking for. With that, she greedily gobbled up the little bit of cheese. While her Pokemon was momentarily distracted, Phoebe glanced up to Renekai apologetically. "Sorry about that... probably should get 'er a leash or something so she doesn't chase every breathing thing around 'ere!"

Renekai laughed and pulled out a poketreat from her bag. "Nah, that's all right. It would probably do Bell some good to be chased... But then, she'd probably attack Dakota or something..." Renekai sighed. She looked at Anima, who was staring intently at the poketreat. "Hey, Anima, maybe you should do a trick, too. Give me your paw!" Renekai held out her hand.

Anima tilted her head in confusion, but gave her paw to Renekai anyway. What was going on? Why was she doing this? She just wanted the treat. She wagged her tail hopefully and whined.

Renekai copied Phoebe's action of moving the treat slightly. Anima's head turned with it, locked on. Renekai laughed and handed the treat over. "I guess I never really did teach you any discipline. But that's all right, we make a good team." Renekai laughed and rubbed her Furret's head.

Phoebe watched intently as this young trainer worked with her Pokemon, unsuccessfully. It was only once the whole display was over that she let out a hearty laugh. "Well, I never really teach Dakota any discipline. It was all the work of mah Ma and Pa! They were originally planning on keeping 'er. However, since I moved out 'ere, they decided to give me a Pokemon for protection, since they feel a Feebas isn't good enough protection..."

In the middle of the pond, a fishy mouth popped out of the water and retorted simply with a "Feebas!" The fish knew that she was definitely much better protection than a puppy Pokemon that loved everything!

And that puppy Pokemon had good timing if anything. As if to prove Phoebe's parents wrong, she flopped down on her back so her spotted tummy was showing. She gave the biggest puppy eyes she could, as if begging for someone to rub that soft spotty tummy of hers.

Ah, her Pokemon definitely were good for supplying her humor. Calling over to the pond, Phoebe apologized first to her precious fish Pokemon. "You know I only did it t'please Ma and Pa, Venus!" Then she glanced down to the black Growlithe. "And yer definitely far from being good protection, ya silly puppy!" She shook her head with a smile and sighed.

"Either way... I should probably get back t'work soon... fish tanks don't build themselves in a day!"

"Right..." Renekai said. It had been a fun day. "It was really nice meeting you," she said happily. "I'm sure Anima enjoyed it."

Anima was currently nosing at Dakota, trying to get her to play again. For Anima, there was no end to the games. She looked up at Renekai with big, sad eyes when she heard that it was almost time to go. The park was such a fun place to be!

Hmmm. A nose wasn't quite the same thing as a tummy rub. Letting out another puppy grunt, she rolled over again so she was able to look at the nose-to-tummy action.

With a smile, she offered a hand for a hand shake. "Yeah, it was nice t'meetcha as well! Feel free t'come visit me by the docks. My place is there, still settin' up, but it should hopefully be cleaned up by the time ya visit."

Renekai took the hand and shook it. "I'd love to come by sometime! You can expect to see me there." She smiled. Perhaps she had just earned a new friend!

Anima gave Dakota a dog-like smile, full of bared teeth and wagging tails. "Seeyouagainsoon!" she said at top speed in pokemon language.

Phoebe gave a firm handshake, more akin to that a man would do with another man. When the shake was done, she pulled up her Pokeball and shot the red beam of light towards the Feebas in the pond. "Venus, return!"

"Bass!" was all the fish Pokemon had time to say in rebuttal. It seemed like she never got to swim for too long anymore.

Phoebe then turned her attention to the puppy Pokemon. "Alright, ya better say yer 'see ya laters' now, Dakota, we gotta head back."

It was time to go? Letting out another puppy grunt as she rolled to her feet, she then gave the Pokemon a big puppy grin to match the smile Anima just gave her. Her tail-nub wagged and even gave one quick bark of "Growl!" (See ya).

"That's a good girl" the breeder cheered as she then began to head back towards the docks. It was always so nice to meet new people, but now it was time to get back to work. Venus wasn't going to settle for pond-visits for much longer.

"Okay, let's go!" Renekai said. ".... Scratch that, time to track my pokemon down..." Renekai then set off in search of Bell.

Anima bounced along happily. That had been fun! Dakota was a good play mate. She snapped at an invisible bug in the air and danced around. She was going to get in as much fun as she could!
