Sitting silently in her perch Autumn heard everything the Fire starter said. Yes she wanted to thump him for calling her a wolf in elf skin but she didn't. After all the truth hurt. At the thought a small voice whispered in her head as if a forgotten memory, "High One that could be". She knew she bit to keep from being bitten. She also knew her and Blaze seemed to end on bad terms in the short time they knew each other.

As he walked along the dark beach she felt something inside her wince a bit. I pain in her that said she needed them. All of them. Still a lone wolf was often driven from the pack and Autumn was definitely a lone wolf here it seemed. Autumn followed Blaze from the trees. She watched him walking and let out a heavy sigh. Silent footsteps on sand soon found her sitting on a group of rocks waiting for him to catch up. When he reached the place she was her mind touched his lightly. Clerly it had the feeling of one trying to make nice. *I was only trying to show you the night as I see it is all.*

"But they never run far, jackals." He grinned and clambered up the rocks to sit next to her. **Why that? I might as well try to show you the heat-floes, or Savith show you the winds. Besides, I mostly just wanted to see the stars again.** He had expected at least a tongue-lashing for his remark, maybe even a good kick in the shins. He might even have wanted a fight, just for a change of speed. It was uncharacteristic of her; this defeated attitude. **Is something wrong?**

Thinking for a bit she turned her eyes skyward to see if the stars were showing so brightly tonight. The little glints of light sparkled and flashed in the light less sky. Streaks of clouds moved lazily along as they sat there. *Do you really think I am a wolf in elf skin?* She didn't look at him as the question touched his mind. It came on the flow of confusion and a deep hidden longing. It was funny to hear it put in such a manner. That was what she thought of herself and he saw it easily. The very thing that made her so close to loathing herself seemed to be the thing that showed its self the strongest. All her life she was taught to sit still, Not to howl and to think before letting her emotions rule her. She often rebelled against it but still the teachings were ingrained and pulled her in many directions inside. Just being with the others seemed to pull at her in many directions. Autumn was feeling lost.

Blaze stretched out on his back on the stone, head cradled in his palms. **I don't know.** He shifted uncomfortably, brow furrowed. **But would a wolf worry about things like that?** Unable to get comfortable, he sat up, staring at the cratered moon and it's accompanying dust cloud.

He'd gotten the confusion, from her send, and understood, but the longing was an emotion he just couldn't place. It frustrated his mind.

*No, I guess it wouldn't.* She watched him fuss on the rock then looked up at the sky again. *You and I seem to be similar for how different we are.* She rubbed a foot on the surface of the stone. *We seem to strike first and ask questions later. Only you pull back first. You seem to know the moment before it goes to far. None of you are stoping me from being who I am but you seem to expect something more. Like you want to know but when faced with knowing it isn't what you wanted.* She now picks up a rock the size of her hand and starts to mush it around. A way to keep her from moving to much as a child that seemed to stick with her.

The firestarter gave her a slightly disgusted look, propping himself up on an elbow, his fist mashed into his cheek. **You ought to stop being so hard on yourself. You're the only one who expects more of yourself; the rest of us are happy with you helping out when you can, and not causing any touble. I've said it before; we can't afford to be choosy over tribemates. If somebody had a bone to pick with you, they'd let you know soon enough. So quit you whining and cheer up; it's a beautifull night. And yer wrecking it.** Having enough with the rough rock, he stepped down onto the sand and lay down there, watching the stars wink and flicker in still wonderment, hoping she would take the hint that he really didn't want to discuss it anymore.

A light frown played at her lips hearing him but she then grinned. In a moment She jumped down over Blaze, flipped him to his stomach and pulled his arm behind him. *Oh am I?* Her mind chuckled in his. Now there was a feeling of playfulness and rough housing. She wasn't trying to hurt him but have some fun on this lovely night. Autumn grumbled to herself feeling the sand move and shift under her feet. The ground was soft. To soft for good footing.

Dancer woke from the healing she did for Savith later that night. It seemed the cave was starting to thin out and her eyes moved to the cave opening. "It stopped" She said in a whisper to nobody really. Slipping slowly and without disturbing Creek Runner she stood up and stretched. She was feeling so stiff as she looked about. Savith was tending to Star and it made her smile to see softer sides of him. Moving to the opening she took in a deep breath. "mmmmmmmmmmm This is the second best night ever." A little chuckle emanating from her.

Her fevered mind kept alternating the delusional Savith from the real one as she squinted to try to make him out better. **Why is it so loud in here, the thunder won't stop** she weaved a little, her body felt hot, weak. She was thirsty but then again not.

Her head pounded as she shivered violently and clutched the blanket to her. She had only been sick like this one time before, she was one of the lucky ones to have made it through the sickness at the holt that killed her parents. Was it something she ate? She couldn't remember. Again she absently scratched the sore on her leg, it seemed to be getting worse as well.

Savith hmmm'd softly at Starsong, noncommittally agreeing to her sent statement, even as he laid his hand against her forehead. Her flesh seemed to burn him with it's heat, and it pulled his lips into a terse frown.

'Drown a fever. Starve a cold,' he sing-song'ed to himself silently even as his mind reached for the waterskin not far away. The same thought sent words flickering toward Dancer, a preoccupied light summons, it was a light tug, rife with the sensation that were Dancer a lighter object, she would have gotten pulled toward him. **When you have a moment...**

To his hand the waterskin floated, and he uncapped it as he shifted position ti sit at Starsong's side and pulled her to lie against him. **Drink,** came the thought as he tilted the waterskin to her lips, shared between the two.

The firestarter rolled his eyes, the side of his head pushed into the sand. **That's more like it.** The wiry, sundried body twisted powerfully and he got his free hand down into the sand. He used the grip to his advantage, deftly straightening the arm she held and swiping her off his back. Twisting free he stood, legs spread and knees bent, a crazy grin plastered acrost his face. **C'mon, wolfrider. You've got better.** He was having fun with this.

Green eyes glinted in the moonlight as the slight light gave her hair the look of fire about her face. A sneering grin as well graced her lips as she charged him. Making him think she was going to plow right into him. Still at the last moment she leaped over him and landed behind him. The softness of the sand off balancing her only slightly. Lunging at his back she pushed him down to the sand again. One might not expect a girl to be as strong as she was and it might come as a surprise to him. *This ground is strange to me. How do you keep steady?* Her send told of her enjoyment as well. She needed to let off some steam and learn to fight on a new type of ground.

Dancers head shifted at the pull to look at Savith. Blue eyes fluttered a bit and she moved to his side. *Is it my turn now Savith?* Her send concerned and sympathetic to the wolfriders condition. She knelt down next to them and looked Star over with a light shake of her head.

Starsong saw a new wolf approach.. no wait.. it wasn't a wolf, it was a ravvit. She suddenly felt very hungry as she reached for her bow.. but it wasn't there. Where did she put it, she couldn't remember. Reaching instead to her boot where she had her knife.

Her red rimmed eyes blazed as sh stared at Dancer, her clumsy hands gripping the handle of the knife as she lunged for the elf. Though in her weakened state it was all she had the energy for as the blade slipped from her hand and clattered noisily on the cave floor.

She knew not where she fell, only that it was cold and her prey had gotten away she was sure of it.

The height of her jump was what suprised him, and he hardly had his sholder turned before he back face first in the sand, somewhat warm from the sudden fall. **Blood and thunder. Either I'm out of practice, or you're too good at this.** He lay there for a moment, getting his breath back, and digging at the wet sand with a finger. **We might as well be on dirt. This sand is nowhere as fine as what I'm used to, and on top of that it's wet. But anyways-** He swung his feet under him and turned, making a sudden lunge for her leg.

His rough hand fastened tight around her ankle, and he threw his wheight into her hip, the side of his forearm catching her neatly, if somewhat painfully, in the gut. The momentum of his attack almost carried him over her, but he ended up sitting disheveld and laughing on her chest, holding her shoulders tightly to the ground. **-it gives the feet a good grip.**
