I liked the books and the movie. I am afraid of how New Moon will turn out though. Hopefully the CG is done well.

I really enjoyed the books (and I won't lie it probably had a lot to do with my love of sappy romance novels.) But I also enjoyed them because I could really relate to Bella, not so much her situation but the way she handles it. Also I really like reading books that take place in areas I know; I live on the North West Coast and I have friends who live in small towns where the biggest industries are Logging and Fishing, so I had a really in depth mental image of Forks.

As for the movie, loved it. Mostly though because it was so badly in need of something. A bigger budget, a better director, less "martial arts movie"-esque special effects (the tree climbing).... But I'm all over the cheesy/ corny humor.
My favourite scenes were the Cullen's kitchen and the day Edward drives Bella to school and is wearing those old-school sunglasses. Soooo funny.

I haven't read all the books but i own all of them and have had them for a while. I love the movie but i do have to complain that i do think that the scenes were rather choppy and i dont think it seems to flow. And i think how they had them say a few things were a bit awkward, but as i whole i really liked it and i love what have read even if its not even the wholefirst book. sweatdrop I really need to get ontop of my reading......

I think the movie was very poorly done. It was very choppy, with some awkward phrasings and scenes. That said, the second time I saw the movie, I really enjoyed it. I guess you have to be in the mood to watch it. I've heard that the second movie will have a new director who plans on improving character development. This gives me hope that the second movie will be better, but I'm not getting my hopes too high.

Has anyone read her new book, The Host ? I really enjoyed it. It took a while for me to get into it, I eventually really got to love it. It also made me think, which I think enhanced my enjoyment. As opposed to reading Twilight, which hooked me after the first few pages, but is a much more shallow book (I still enjoy it, though, of course!). I must say, though, vampires are much better with fangs and not being sparkly. rolleyes

Okay, I admit it, I liked Twilight. BUT I am just swamped and probably wont get to the sequels, so I read Wikipedia so I'd know the end. hee hee!

It was an okay book series and an okay movie. A few things I didn't appreciate were all the sexual innuendos, the cussing, and the "sex scenes". That made it really hard for me to get through the books. Plus I thought Edward was kind of mean to Bella.

I tried to read it, and honestly the whole time I read, every word, every run-on, every fragment sentance, every single soul-less quote from every character, only increased my urge to find and punch Stephanie Meyer.

On the subject of vampires and werewolves, I couldn't handle it enough to really get into the werewolf stuff, but the vampires were terrible. Sparkling is no reason to avoid sunlight, especially when public knowledge is that vampires die on contact with the stuff, as far as I can figure, they give no reason for not drinking HUMAN blood, (I refuse to call them vegetarian unless they ONLY EAT VEGETABLE MATTER) and if I were to mimic the strategies in romantic advance that Edward subscribes to, I would very quickly have a restraining order filed against me. However, the souless and character-free Bella finds the stalking a perfectly acceptable form of flattery.

All-in-all, the book seems to have been written as an overly-long ninth grade English paper, by the lowest-scoring rabble in the school. I half expected it to be written in chat speak. "OMG Edwrd, U ttly sprkle. How butiful"
I have yet to see the movie, and maintain that one will only get me to watch it through force or monetary coercion.

I liked the books a ton! I was rather disappointed with Stephenie Meyer(who supposedly is LDS) though. How could she put suggestive scenes and sex scenes in it? It really ruined my opinion of the series. Alice is definitely my favorite! I disliked the movie, but that's just me...it was too choppy and fast-paced to really get a feel for it. I hope they can do better with the next one...

Well, just because an author is LDS doesn't mean their characters have to be. Nor does it mean that their characters cannot ever act in ways contrary to the gospel or be tempted to do so. They wouldn't feel like real people then and the stories wouldn't engage our attention and feelings.
