((OOC: Yahootie!))
Esmeralda glanced around the yard as she climbed out of her parents' van. "Now, you'll be okay, won't you, dear?" her mother questioned anxiously. Esmeralda rolled her eyes. "Yes, Mom," she said snappishly, hoisting her duffel from the back seat. "And I'll call, and write, and blah blah blah. You'd think I was moving out or something." Catching a glimpse of the woman with the clipboard out of the corner of her eye, Esmeralda turned towards her. "Bye, Mom," she added pointedly over her shoulder. As the van roared out of the yard, Esmeralda made her way over to the woman. "Hi," she said at last, uncertainly. "Are you Ms. Barklee?"

Certianly. But ya'll can call me Shannon. The woman spoke with a soft Southern drawl and smiled kindly at Esmeralda. And who may you be?
Nanina walked up beside Esmeralda and shoved ehr hands into her jean's pockets, pushing back her jacket making it covered even less, if that was possible.

Esmeralda nodded, as though being told to call an adult by her first name was no big deal. "Esmeralda. But I respond to Ez or Ezzy just as well," she said with a cheeky grin. Glancing at the girl who'd strolled up beside her, she opened her mouth to say something - maybe hello, maybe something sarcastic, who knew? - but wisely held her tongue.

She glanced up to see who else had arrived, and her eyes widened. Oh hell nah. Missy, you bess get you a** up into that house and put some clothes on before I get my horsewhip.
Nanina rolled her eyes and tipped her hat lower. Nice to see you to Auntie.

"Thanks," said Esmeralda. Almost shyly she asked, "Where's the barn?" Sure, it was great to know where her room was, and all that, but she wanted to see the horses. She didn't know precisely how this 'camp' worked, but she wanted to get to know the animals as soon as possible.

In my dreams I'll always see you soar above the skies; In my heart there'll always be a place for you, for all my life I'll keep a part of you with me; and everywhere I am there you'll be...
The woman's voice mixed with that of Faith Hill's filled her small dark blue Cooper as she drove towards the camp. She had already been lost at least twice, and she hoped this wouldn't be the third. Finally, the large camp was within eyeshot - and it looked beautiful. She smiled to herself as she continued to sing. She had grew up loving animals, sometimes even more than her own kind - humans. She had good things to say about animals - but the opposite to mankind. Still, she ate meat, which many of her friends found ironic. Kahlilia Mae Rose Thompson, or Lily, wore her long hair in a tight ponytail. For her clothes, she wore traditional brown cowboy boots, dark jeans, and a red spaghetti strap shirt. She had been almost assured it would be hot, so she was prepared. She was excited to meet the animals and interact with them. Especially the horses.
Once arriving, Kahlilia immediatly saw several women. She parked, pulled out her duffel bag (which she had secretly snuck treats for the animals into), and began to walk towards the women with a friendly smile on her face, blue eyes glittering.

Shannon just tsked at Nanina, and handed her a key. It's just down that hill there. Big red building, can't miss it. She told Esmeralda. Looking around, Shannon spotted another girl and smiled welcomingly. Hello.
Nanina went back to her trunk and grabbed two huge suitcases, then draped another side back over her shoulder. She carried it all inside, and then dumped it in her old room.

"Hello." Kahlilia said with a smile as she walked closer. "I'm here for the camp - my name is Kahlilia Thompson." She outstretched one hand while the other held tight onto her bag. She couldn't wait to begin, as strange as it sounded. All she had back at home was a goldfish, which to her was pretty close to nothing. Without having to inhale even once, she instantly smelt a various amount of things - both good and bad - but she focused on the good of course; freshly mowed lawn, the smell of sweet oats.

Shannon grasped Kahlilia's hand in a firm hand. It is a pleasure to meet you Kahlilia Thompson. I am Shannon Barklee, but ya'll call me Shannon. She smiled again, her eyes clinkling at the sides. Reaching into her pocket, she retrieved yet another room key, and handed it to the girl. Green tag, so that would be the door with the green handle.

Esmeralda ran to her room, dumped her bag in it, locked it and went down the hill. Entering the barn, she breathed deeply. The smell of hay and horses went a long way towards soothing her jitters. She began walking along stall doors, petting noses and murmuring gently to each one. Finally, she stopped before one particular stall. The horse inside was gorgeous. "Oh, you beauty," she whispered. "You pretty, pretty thing." That mare looked too fragile for a ranch. She was some sort of Arab, that was for sure - the dished face was enough to tell Esmeralda that. She glanced up at the nameplate. Sahara Snowfall. "Oh, gorgeous," she whispered, "I want to work with you."

Once leaving her room and locking it, she absently began to explore the ranch. There were so many things to explore, and she felt like a newborn baby just opening their eyes. All of the stress of leaving was completly gone; she knew this was her dream, and she was living it now.

The mare stretched her head over the door curiously, nudging Esmeralda's shoulder. The girl laughed. "Cutie," she murmured to it, petting the offered nose. "I'm sorry, I have nothing for you."
Reluctantly - she shouldn't get too attached, she might not get to work with this one, after all - Esmeralda tore herself away from the mare and went on down the stalls, looking at the others.

Nanina flopped down on ehr bed and stretched out, arching her back as it popped. Sighing, she closed her eyes and breathed in the familiar sents, and her mind started to wander to the old places she would run to and hide. Evening parties out in the barn when Shannon had gone to bed. Good times.
Shannon sat down on the front porch swing, it was older and it squeaked, but the cushions where comfertable and ti was rather cozy. Looking around, she peered down at her clipboard and then let her gaze watch the road.

(Correct me if I'm wrong about any of the following things)
Kahlilia let herself look at the all of the animals: chickens, cows, and she could have sworn she had seen a dog... She was saving the barn for last. She wanted to interact with them more than anything right now, and that ambition led her legs to the huge red building.
Kahlilia smiled at the other girl she immediatly saw in the barn and began to look at the horses. She had tucked a small bag of carrots into her jeans pocket, and she was quietly fingering it. She heard one horse start snorting, and she instantly diverted her attention to it. The nameplate said her name was Kelly, and she smiled. "Hi Kelly." She whispered. Kelly snorted again. Kahlilia could easily tell this dapple-gray mare was pregnant. She tried to get Kelly to come over by whispering nicely, but she lay down instead, so she went to the next stall. There, she saw an extremely tall stallion standing up - and staring directly at her. He was handsome; a white and brown coat with a blonde-ish mane and tail. Again, she looked at the nameplate: Benvolio. As she read the name, he walked over, and she flinched a tiny bit as he nudged her shoulder with his long nose. "Hi to you too, Ben." She said with a light laugh. Out of impulse, she took out her carrots and fed a couple to him, hoping and praying she wasn't doing anything wrong... This horse was gorgeous. He seemed to smile at her with his eyes as he ate, and she smiled back. She instantly knew she wanted to work with him.
