Pilate wasn't a fighter but a wander. She doubted, even when she was older, that shed want to pick up claw and tooth against anything unless she was going to eat it. "If I ever wander back ... maybe.." She mused but did not sound so certain. Not that Pilate was not capable of killing evil, she was, but more so that would mean shed have to stay put and she did not like the idea of staying some where to long.
"For now I guess Im just glad you are here to protect me," Which was the truth. She had heard stories of hostile prides and did not wish to cross their paths. Bui seemed stern and serious, but he did not seem murderous or hostile. Pilate's mind wandered over to what it would be like if he smiled and shuddered some of the wrongness of it all.

Bui gave a short and curt nod. If she didn't want to fight, she didn't have to. To him, that just made her a coward, but his mother had explained that not everyone was prepared to fight and kill other beings. Even his sister Hima had shown signs that she would not go into battle, but would likely stay behind and help to tend to the other pride members. He supposed helping was helping, but he had always known that he would be on the front lines.
"It's no trouble. It's really what we're here for." After all, if a demon-hunter couldn't protect and innocent traveler, then what good were they really? He would most certainly defend the cheetah girl if anyone attacked, and give her a chance to run away. His mother would be proud of him for that.

A large lizard scurried across Pilate's path. The large thing took cover in the brush behind a rock. Pilate stopped walking and stared at it.
"You want to go lizard hunting?" She asked, still staring at the spot the large lizard had disappeared. The bright green cub was, for the most part, always willing to grab a meal. The chance to grab a meal usually was slim and it was a wonder the cub had survived this long on her own.
Her pink eyes just stared with the intent on killing and eating that lizard. "Well?" Her voice cut back in sharper and less friendly then she was before. Food tended to make any hungered thing a little on the edge.

Bui watched it scurry around and then he turned and looked over at Pilate. Hunting lizards? He had never done that before. It would certainly be... an experience. "Well... I suppose so. Why not?" He could use a snack and if he couldn't kill a simple lizard, then how was he supposed to fight demons like a real hunter? No, he clearly had to prove himself and kill it with her!
"Alright... let's do it!" He said with a sharp nod, following the lizard's movement carefully. He couldn't possibly turn down an oppertunity to show what a real demon-hunter could do. Especially not when she sounded so curt about it.
"Come on!" He snapped, straightening out and cracking his neck carefully. "We have to go now, or we'll lose it!" He moved carefully, trying to keep all of his mother's lessons in mind.

Pilate almost feel backwards at his seriousness. Bui was serious before but she could see now that he really was trained for hunting and killing even at a young age. Pilate nodded a sharp nod and followed after. Her slim body snaked its way through the brush not making a sound.
Pilate had to be graceful to survive, other wise she'd have died along time ago. Her pink eyes laid on the spot behind the rock as she inched closer and closer, following Bui's lead. Part of her was curious to see his hunting skills, and part of her wanted to grab the lizard and run off to eat it her self.
Her ears lowered a little ashamed of her selfish thoughts, but it was how food and hunting made her.
Pilate gave Bui another nod to go ahead first for the kill. She'd be right behind him if the thing got away.

Bui didn't seem to care what Pilate did... he had to concentrate and think about the best possible way to get the lizard. "We should surround it... you're fast, right? You chase it, then I'll be in position to capture it." He explained carefully, liking that idea quite a bit. From what he had seen in his visions, cheetahs were extremely fast. That would certainly make his life easier.
He was selfish in his own way. Another way to hunt so he could learn to kill. He wasn't very hungry himself... this was just another training excersize. Another way he could learn to fight against those who oppressed the weak. Even if on occasion it had to be him.
Still, he did like Pilate. And she was proving to be quite helpful for his training...

Pilate nodded and did what she was told taking the other side. Two big cats against one puny lizard, the odds seemed to be in their favor. The cheetah got low on her belly and crept forward. Pilate got closer and closer , ever so slowly. She wanted to surprise the little thing a bit before chasing it out.
The lizard spotted her and scurried in the opposite direction only to be chased by Pilate. The cheetah was graceful and fast but the lizard seemed to share her speed. "Now!" She yelled.

Bui watched her chase the lizard and waited for his moment, grinning wildly when it came close to him. He pounced out, letting his powerful paws match his new companion's speed. He landed on the lizard with a devistating crash as he bite down on the lizard's neck.
He smiled up at Pilate... but something about that smile was not friendly. Not to Pilate, but it was the smile of someone who was going to grow up as a destroyer, and not a creator. "We win."

Pilate didn't like the look in his smile but kept that to her self. He was, after all, and aspiring demon hunter. Pilate just assumed that was how they all were.
Assumptions were not always the most practical way to judge a group, but being so young, Pilate didn't know the wrong of it. Her pink eyes wandered down at the lizard that was now lying in a pool of its own dark fluids and frowned.
"I suppose we do win," Her pink eyes darted back to Buis eyes.

Bui held out the lizard to her, "You can keep it if you like. You have to travel further than I do, and I'm sure that our hunters will bring back something to eat. I don't need it." The experience had been valuable enough. Clearly, cheetahs were to be valued for their speed.
He had no particular feelings to Pilate at this point. She had been a helpful innocent bystandard to say the least. He would take what he had learned to heart. At least when it came to hunting. Social experiences had never done much for Bui, one way or the other.

Pilate took the lizard and cut it in equal halfs with an extended claw. She took her share with no questions and pushed the other half to Bui.
"I don't take anymore then I've earned. Thats now how I am. It would greatly hurt my pride to take the whole thing,"It was true. The cub had a since of pride and morals at a young age. She knew right from wrong. To her, wrong would be scarfing down the whole lizard. She'd rather starve and die.
"Your a great warrior Bui. I know that our paths will cross again some day," She giggled, "Maybe you'll learn to have some fun when you get older." The cub swatted towards Bui playfully.

Bui sighed, supposing that he understood what it meant to not want one's pride to be hurt. He wasn't sure he would have dealt with it very well. So he took his half without complain, shrugging it off as he did so. It wouldn't hurt him to be polite.
"That's fair enough..." Bui said, taking a bite of their kill without another word on the subject, though he was a bit confused when Pilate mentioned that he should have more fun. "Maybe... but my mother..." His mother wanted him to be happy, he knew that. But he didn't want to let her down, and no matter what she said, he knew she expected great things from her children. Perhaps if he could be the best, he could eliviate the stress from some of his siblings, especially his sister Hima...
"I don't really have time for fun. Not when we're going to be fighting so much when I get older." He explained quietly, "We have to be the best. Or we won't make it." He forced a more natural smile at that. Unnatural for him, actually, but kinder than his others had been, "Perhaps when you meet me next, I will be more... pleasent." When his rank and position were assured. Maybe then.

Pilate nodded and smiled. "I had fun though working with you. You can have fun and be productive at the same time," The cheetah approached him and looked at his face closely, " I think you may have had a little fun too ~ " The cheetah cub backed up and sprinted in the other direction. She stopped and looked back only to call out.
"I have to go now! I promise to be back one day to see you as a great warrior demon hunter! " She turned and disappeared off into strange unknown lands quite pleased with meeting Bui.
In all honesty, she may have even thought he was a little cute.
