Silently Triston reached for his sword, but then slowly decided against using it for this. So he settled for touching the ice with his tail in order to make them an ice free but misty path to normal ground. Hearing Alazne though made Triston look back at her instead of into the swirling mist he had somehow created.
Listening the cattaur just gave a calm expression before a small shrug. His gaze caught Alazne's and he finally stated simply. "It wasn't directed at the ice or orb." Is all he gave before walking forward and away from the ice. He turned though to look at the wolftaur before tilting his head inquisitively. "You okay?" Triston added finally noting the redness of her face.

Alazne couldn't help but laugh softly at Triston's response, tracing the fingers of her other hand across the smooth, flawless surface of the orb as she tried to will the blush on her face to go away. She assumed that would be the straightest answer that she was going to get from the cattaur, but she didn't mind it. That way, she could, at the very least, imagine that it had been a compliment directed at her, though she'd never thought herself particularly pretty, especially not in comparison to the amazing patterns that so many cattaur had, especially when their magic was added into the mixture.
Her tail swished softly behind her as she looked down at the mist that Triston had created in replace of a trail of the ice, and she took a few steps before deciding that it was surely solid ground, and she didn't need to be overly-cautious on it. When the concerned question was directed at her, she looked up through her fringe again, before lifting her head and looking at him curiously. Of course, her face still had a bit of the pinkish hue to it, and she touched one of her warmed cheeks softly, before laughing a bit. "No, I'm fine, don't worry," she replied, content to watch the ground as she continued across the pathway that would lead off of the ice.

"Aye then." Triston continued walking and only looked back at random to make sure Alazne was still behind him. Truthfully the cattaur still wondered about her, but if she said she was okay then he'd have to take her word on it.
Triston suddenly stopped though as they approached some trees and were out of the mist. His gaze surveyed the land around them for any danger and he raised his hand to touch the sword hanging on his back. But after sensing no danger Triston lowered his hand and just looked at Alazne. "Now what?" He asked sincerely not knowing where they were or what she wanted to do.

Alazne's tail flicked gently to-and-fro behind her, showing her happiness in it's simple way of expressing it, much less complicated than cat tails, with all of their different movements and such. Instead, she had her wolf's tail, plain and simple. It wagged when she was happy, drooped when she was sad, tucked when she was scared, and stood tall when she was angry or trying to be intimidating. Her eyes watched Triston's tail in confusion, and she realized why it was so strangely difficult to tell his emotions, aside from the fact that he never really had expressions; she had seen him smile about twice, though, which was a sign that he, at the very least, had emotions.
She'd been raised around wolftaur and, though her childhood had been far from enjoyable, she had grown accustomed to being able to tell their emotions; it had helped her escape, no less, keeping track of the more docile of the tribe and all. But Triston was a cattaur. He didn't have just a few basic emotions with a concrete wall behind them. He was one of those who had deep, drawn out emotions that one could never understand; that, or he was always in thought. Then again, who was Alazne to make assumptions about other 'taur simply because of what they were. She'd only heard stories, after all. Maybe she'd actually be able to get to know Triston. Maybe.
She was shocked out of her thought-induced coma by her friend's speech, and blinked a couple times, recalling whatever it was that he said. "Oh- Um... I'm... not really sure," she said sheepishly, smiling faintly as she started tossing the orb gently from hand-to-hand. Now that they were on the snowy earth, she didn't mind if it fell, as it wouldn't break from falling into the snow. "We could get something to eat," she commented, flicking her ears a bit. Unfortunately, when she said 'get something to eat', that usually meant stealing something from the nearest village; she was a pathetic hunter, and didn't have any way to get money to buy food. "Unless you already have food, um... somewhere. That you'd be willing to share with a wolftaur like myself."

Tilting his head curiously at Alazne, Triston held out his arms to show that he had no food on him. But that did remind the cattaur of something and Triston quickly reached for a small pouch that he kept hidden on his back attached to his scabbard. Dumping the contents out of the velvety pouch, Triston revealed a couple small coins. But those coins would be enough to buy a meal for two...if he could find a tavern or something.
It was then that the cattaur's eyes widened. He had been smelling something faint but had been ignoring it until just then. A tendril of the food scented air beckoned his hunger to it. Clutching the coins in his hand, Triston pointed forward. "Tavern?" He asked Alazne just to make sure that he wasn't just being deceived by something.

Alazne peered at the teenage boy when he sniffed the air. She blinked a few times, and when she was asked if there was a tavern, she smiled slightly, glad that she could be put to use after what the other boy had done for her, though this was a little different. She raised her nose to the sky and sniffed the air, trying to see if there was, in fact, a place serving food somewhere close by. In fact, she did smell something that was definitely meat cooking, but they were too far away for her to distinguish what exactly it was.
"Yeah, that's definitely a tavern. C'mon, Triston, this way," she said with a nod, gesturing toward the scent. She waited a moment for the cattaur to put the coins away, before she started toward the smell, going the direction that the smell got stronger in. It was mostly clear, thankfully, besides the snow. Which had Alazne up to her furred belly in snow, jumping forward slowly, as she wasn't exactly the tallest teenager.

"Good." Triston followed Alazne silently like a watchful shadow. He nearly lost his concentration on watching out for any danger as he noticed how the wolftaur moved in the snow. For some reason it was a bit amusing to him. Not in a jeering way...just a kind amusement. But instead of using any more magic to help, Triston looked ahead.
And now there it was right there in front of them. His tail twitched as he thought about the realization of their next couple of steps. Soon they'd be in the tall building that had a hot fire blazing inside and warm food would be on their plates. Clutching even tighter at the coins, Triston hurried to walk beside of Alazne.

Alazne was unaware of how strange her stepping through the snow was, as she hadn't been out of captivity long enough to really know how to maneuver through the drifts. She smiled brightly when her amber eyes fell upon the tavern, but her excitement was just a tad too early, and she jumped forward, falling into a snowdrift in the process. The 'taur pulled herself out and shook her head roughly, scattering snow in every direction, before she pushed her wet fringe from her eyes.
"Eheh... I'm not really used to the snow, in case that's not... obvious," the teenager laughed sheepishly, jumping out from the drift and shaking the rest of herself off. "Shall we, then?" she asked, pulling the door open and gesturing for Triston to enter before her, tail scattering water as it flicks back and forth.

Triston just shook his head as Alazne fell, but moved to help her up should she need it. But the cattaur saw that she had it covered and only found himself covered with a bit more snow than before. He grinned secretly and wiped the sticking snow as best as he could off himself.
"Yeah." Entering Triston was immediately hit with the light from candles and the fires blazing warmly in their places. He lead the way towards the counter and cast a gaze about the room with his guard up. No telling if trouble was here or not after all.

Alazne wandered in after the cattaur, only to immediately go on-guard. The place was warm, a nice contrast to the chill winter air, but it was also swarming with unfriendly faces, as well as wolftaur who Alazne recognized without even trying. She tucked her tail slightly when she first stepped in, letting the door drop shut behind her. However, with the lewd and uncomfortable stares growing, she trotted up to Triston, walking close to him, amber eyes scanning as her tail stuck out and fluffed up a bit, trying to keep her cool around so many people.
"I don't want to stay here long..." she murmured under her breath to the cattaur, still making sure not to let herself be sneaked up on. "These people- this place- gives me the creeps," she finished, no longer talking as they approached the counter, her eyes going to the ground, ears flicking around for even the slightest of noises. Then again, maybe she was just paranoid. She'd never been the most trusting of people, after all...

Secretly casting another look around the place after hearing Alazne's words, the cattaur nodded at her in a silent understanding. Still, Triston decided that having an icy energy silently crackling about him didn't hurt. The serving girl, a younger centaur, came over towards them and waited patiently for their orders.
Triston nodded towards Alazne after ordering the house special and some steaming apple cider, "Order?" His tail twitched as he silently kept himself alert for any change in the stillness of the tavern. Maybe it was just Alazne's nerves that was making him more careful than usual.

Alazne shivered slightly at the feel of the energy resonating around Triston after her mention of the feeling of the place. She really didn't like this place already; the scent that hovered in the air around them matched that of the wolftaur who'd captured her so many years back. Of course, it was probably just her imagination, but a wolftaur's nose was really strong in comparison to that of most other taur, so it rarely would betray her... but still, she hoped that that's what it was doing at the moment.
Her tail swished slightly in it's airborne position, before it slowly tucked down between her legs and she ducked down a bit, listening to Triston until she was asked to order. Amber eyes glanced up slowly and she blinked a few times. "Just a hot apple cider, please," she murmured quietly. It would take less time to finish, after all. And, as such, she would be able to leave sooner.

Looking at Alazne in surprise, Triston didn't ask why she didn't order anything yet he was puzzled. Not showing any emotion though the cattaur blinked and just sat there quietly until a bowl of steaming soup and two mugs of apple cider were placed in front of them.
After taking a couple good bites of the hot soup, Triston pushed the bowl and spoon over towards the wolftaur. "Eat." He murmured glancing about the tavern from the corner of his eyes. "Trust me?" The cattaur wanted Alazne to relax just for a minute or two and get something to eat while he should be the one keeping watch. After all he wasn't going to eat in front of a companion without them having something that just...wasn't something he would do.

Alazne wrapped her hands around the mug and let a faint smile grace her lips, taking a sip of the warm liquid. The tips of her fingers tingled slightly at the complete contrast of the heat compared to the chill of her hands from the weather. Halfway through a deeper drink from the mug was when the soup was pushed toward her. She set the mug of cider back down onto the table, ears flicking a bit at the gently command to eat.
At the suggestion of trusting the cattaur, she gave a bit of a half-smile. If there was anyone who she would trust, it was probably Triston, given how he'd treated her so far. She nodded a couple times and took the spoon, dipping it in the bowl and blowing on the liquid softly, before eating the spoonful, smiling at the taste of it. Maybe she should have gotten some for herself after all. She only took another three bites of the soup before she pushed both bowl and spoon back toward Triston. "Thank you."

"Ah." Triston finished gulping down the rich cider which warmed his stomach before eating just a little bit more of the soup. The cattaur was already feeling full enough and the atmosphere in the tavern was seriously bugging him.
His ice blue eyes didn't gaze about the place, but his magic faintly throbbed as if searching for any possible threats. Then suddenly Triston pushed the bowl of soup back towards Alazne and stood. Tossing several coins over to the server, Triston casually went to stand beside the wolftaur. "If you're finished...let's go?" He asked softly indicating Alazne's drink and the soup that he had also left to her.
