Ethan nodded and grinned at the woman's comment about sardines. "Quite true, barely move to breathe.." He glanced at the shoppers who rushed past them, they gave the pair disgruntled looks that seemed to ask why they'd stopped in the midst of the chaos for an odd little chat about sardines.. Ethan adjusted his scarf in a joking way; as though he needed as little constriction as possible to survive in the cramped conditions, making a joke of the situation.
However, the woman’s reaction to his reason for his carelessness interested him (it seemed like his explanation had hit a note) and Ethan followed her slightly surprised expression, hoping to find at the end of it the boy he had inquired about. What he saw was a glimpse of white hair being swallowed by the crowd and the faint flicker of a glowing rune. Xui? Or was his imagination playing tricks on him? He'd met one raevan and now he was seeing them popping out everywhere.. The woman was probably just trying to be helpful, maybe she thought he saw looking for a grandson or something.. But even so, she'd asked for the extent of the oddity, he might as well give it a shot – she too might’ve noticed the raevan in the crowd.
"Though it might sound quite bizarre.. I believe the youth I am looking for... lacks legs." He chuckled, rubbing his hands together almost sheepishly - How mad did he sound? It was rare for the confident businessman to feel embarrassed but his absurd suggestion made him sound extraordinarily insane. Perhaps even now the poor woman was thinking that he was some deluded old man, he knew that he'd think that if a random stranger said that to him....
Feeling the need to restore some of his dignity, he tapped the edges on his glasses and added; "I might be mistaken though.. After all, like you said, we're packed like sardines in here and my old eyes might be playing tricks on me."

“And I am Xiu,” replied Xiu with a polite nod and smiling as he extended his hand. He had been greeted in that manner often enough so the raevan thought that he’d try it as well. “Pleased to meet you Zul, and err…Puppy,”
Now that he had introduced himself, Xiu took the opportunity to observe the other more closely. Like Xiu, Zul had white hair, blue eyes, pointed ears, horns, wings and no legs but unlike Xiu, the other had an extra horn growing from the middle of his forehead, orange tints at the tips of his short and rather spiky hair, skeletal looking wings and a darker skin tone. Zul also had a lot more colour to him and seemed to be of a stronger built. Or was that the impression he gave because he had no clothes on? Xiu was curious and longed to touch the softly glowing lines about the other’s collar and gloves but thought better of it. Zul might get offended if he did that. Instead, Xiu merely turned his attention towards the puppy in Zul’s arms but did not attempt to come any closer to the other raevan. Something about respecting another’s ‘personal space’ as Hazeline used to say whenever Xiu got too close to someone and that said someone began to squirm uncomfortably.
“The puppy is cute. Is he yours?” Xiu asked politely as his eyes gave an occasional glance from Zul and the puppy to the crowded mall in the hopes of locating his guardian. The human that was with Zul seemed to have disappeared somewhere but her disappearance was of no great concern to Xiu. She was probably off searching for a Christmas present or something.
Or she could be Zul's guardian in which case it'd probably be best if he introduced himself to her as well. "Wasn't there a lady beside you Zul? Your guardian?" enquired Xiu as he glanced about.
".. M ... miss Hazeline?"
Was someone calling her? Hazeline paused in the midst of her stride and turned but before she could locate the source of the voice, a sharp eyed salesperson was already vying for her attention with a leaflet of discounted products and before she knew it, Hazeline was dragged into a store selling scented stationary with the salesperson in question trying to convince the distracted woman that writing on paper smelling like someone’s spilled perfume was a good way to keep in touch with friends and families.

... Oyyyych.
Ahem, errr. Daymn. Oh well, bugger. that happened more often than not.
Not quite fazed by Hazeline getting distracted, Graf wobbled on her heels a little nearby until she seemed about done before attempting again. This could get harder a mission than she'd planned.
She kept her target in sight, then during a lull in the constant distraction, took the plunge again.
"Miss Hazeline." Firmer now.
Honestly.. being ignored was her favourite hobby, but if this kept up she'd have to resort to harsher measures.

A smile tugged at the woman's lips, both amused and understanding. "Don't worry. I work with the multi-legged and legless alike," she reassured the man. The field of animals certainly gave a person a lot of leniency to say such odd and fun things. "But I have a feeling I know who you're talking about. Would you like to meet him?"
Alex wasn't exactly the type to want to 'show and tell,' because to her, Zul was like a little brother, not an animal. She knew he enjoyed meeting other people from their experiences so far, and since the man didn't seem too freakish or exciteable about him, she didn't think it could hurt. Perhaps his nice appearance or gentle demeanor put her at ease, but the Italian wasn't quite as awkward around him as she was around most others she'd met.
Then again, maybe she just hadn't had the chance to make an a** of herself yet.
With a wave of her hand to indicate the man could follow her, she started through the crowd toward the spot of warmth she could still see, the beacon of summer skin in the midst of winter clothed bodies. "By the way," she glanced over her shoulder, turning a little to offer her hand to him as they walked, "name's Alex. Nice to meet you--oh!" She blinked, momentarily distracted by a shock of red hair that was quite familiar to her, only knowing two people with such a fiery crown. "Niksia?"
"Xiu," he repeated the name, tasting it with satisfaction. Short and to the point, like his, something he could definitely appreciate. Anything like him was worth admiring. Bright eyes shifted to look at the animal in his arms, frowning at it at the question. "No, is..." His gaze continued onward towards the pen, which he floated back towards slowly with a glance to Xiu to see if he'd follow. Another question stopped him, seeming to have not understood the term used. "No, she was looking for Mister. I don't know that one. My...ah, here, Xiu."
The Raevan smiled brightly again, tilting his head in askance for the other Frei to follow, floating towards his woman as he spotted her advancing on him. Zul had no problems with spotting Alex in a crowd; it was as though she was simply his where as the others were not, therefore they were dull in comparison. He noted her look at a red-head by the kennel, deciding to intervene before someone else could distract her from his whims. Looking at the one he heard his woman call 'Niksia,' he all but thrust the pup into her arms. "Puppy," he informed the red-head before turning back to Xiu, spreading one hand towards Alex. "My woman, Ailix."
"Alex," she laughed at Zul's display with Niksia and the other Raevan, giving them both an apologetic glance. "He has a time with some names, and none with others. I just happen to be lucky." The woman smiled warmly, looking back to the man she had brought with her. "If this is who you were thinking of, this would be Zul." A light giggle escaped her as her green eyes shifted back to her friend. "Hey, Niks. Happy Holidays and all that jazz."

She worked with legged and legless alike? Did she mean that she was somehow involved with looking after the raevan.. Or was it some private joke? It almost seemed like it by the amused expression creeping over her face. He was about to inquire what exactly she meant, but she offered to show him the boy that he'd glanced earlier before he could form the words. "Oh?" Pleasantly taken aback, Ethan smiled.
The woman was certainly welcoming to a total stranger like himself and his smile turned into a satisfied grin - he was eager to glean more information about Raevans and this woman was being generous with dishing out what he wanted to know. "Why thank you... That would be wonderful.. I think I've met one of his kind before." As he replied he remembered Xui more clearly and compared him to the fleeting glance of the boy that he'd caught earlier. The leglessness and white hair were things that were consistent on both of the raevans he'd seen and he couldn't help but wonder if there were any other features that all raevans shared.. Hopefully he'd soon see.
They moved through the crowd and the woman introduced herself as Alex. Pleased, Ethan proceeded to share his name. "Ethan Blake. It's a pleasure to meet you Alex." However, Alex was distracted as he spoke. A small spark of irritation rose in his belly.. She'd told him her name; surely she'd want to hear his? But none the less he followed her glance to a shock of red hair that she'd named Niksia.
A friend? Or even another raevan? The irritation was forgotten as he joined Alex in a cluster around a puppy pen. He swept his eyes around the people present, taking each of the in an evaluating them;
There was a red headed woman, the person Alex had spied and called Niksia. She did not seem fazed by the presence of the raevans that were present. One face was familiar to Ethan; the oriental raevan Xui, who Ethan had met not too long ago. He smiled to Xui before moving on to inspect the bare-chested wonder that was holding a squirming puppy. This was the youth he'd glanced earlier. He had tanned skin (much like Alex's); white hair with orange tips; one goat-like horn on either side of his head and one flickering sabre protruded from his hair in the centre of his head. His wings were bony and very different to the ornate stonework that rested on Xui's back.
"Yes... He's the one I saw." He replied to Alex, still admiring Zul. "It is a marvel to meet you Zul." He stepped forward, hand outstretched eager to introduce himself to the raevan.

Lucia did not glance over at the woman speaking to her because she was glaring at a mother towards the middle of the line who was trying to cut in front by pushing her kid between a few groups of people who were chatting. "Lucia," she said in reply and spread her wings, trying to intimidate the woman so the frei wouldn't have to go out of the booth again.
As the woman scowled, grabbed her kid and walked heatedly to the back of the ever growing line to see Santa, Lucia looked up at the woman who had been late. "It's you! You're familiar." The frei tried to think of where she remembered Ebony from, but couldn't. "Where do I know you fr-" The kitten was cut off as she grabbed the shoulder of a little girl trying to sneak in to see Santa. "You need to wait in line like everyone else!"

Niksia started at the sound of her own name, it was uncommon enough that she suffered automatic guilt when hearing it. She went from puppy teasing to the innocent 'hands behind back, standing around quietly' pose in the blink of an eye. Just she strode away from her new four legged friends to find out exactly who had called on her a spotted puppy was thrust into her arms by the strangely horned Raevan.
The redhead was getting very good at noticing them straight away, the lack of legs that they were known for was a bit of a giveaway though... While scratching the overstimulated dog behind the ears with one scarred hand, the other cradling the pup to her chest, she joined up with the expanding group, which included a nearly pure white Raevan as well as the one Alex had called Zul.
'Hi Alex, I wasn't expecting you here. Happy holidays to you too.' Completely true, Niksia rarely bumped into guardians or their charges while she was out and about. It was nice to see some outside of Lab fund raisers and the like though. A little smile crossed her face at the thought, slightly blocked by her over sized scarf but the crinkling around her eyes giving it away.
'Looks like you've become a guardian, congratulations. He looks like a handful already.' Glancing at the Raevan in question, Niksia quickly decided that it was an understatement, he looked more rough and ready than some of the others. If only she could understand why...

“Loo-cee-ah…” Ebony mouthed slow, only making her British accent more evident as she spoke. “Pretty name. Older in fashion than most, but you know what they say. It’s the classics that never die.” She couldn’t help, but smile at the Frei’s non-verbal way of making the pushy mother get to the back of the line where she should have gone in the first place. Ebony would have most likely shot a dirty look to the woman herself or even worse, might have made a spectacle of the woman just for her rudeness. Honestly, holidays like Christmas were suppose to make people nicer and think more of others. These days it only seemed to exacerbate the notion of people’s greed and impatience. And yes, the woman did realize how ironic it was that a thief was one to think these thoughts.
She sighed and watched as the cat Raevan, Ebony having just now realized she was such, catch an impatient youngster before the girl had gotten a chance to sneak past them. Stooping down to the girl’s level, she handed her a candy cane. “Don’t fret. Everyone will get a chance to speak with Santa. You just have to be patient. After all, you wouldn’t want all your hard work of being good all year to go to waste now just because you couldn’t wait, right?” Of course the purple haired woman had not ever meant for that to sound like some sort of threat (then again it was Ebony so who knows), but either way the little girl, eyes as wide as could be, nodded quickly before snatching the candy and going back to her mother. In fact, a few other children who had been eavesdropping on the conversation had also nodded in response. If they valued their presents, none of them dared chanced angering the great Mister Claus.
Standing back up to her full height, giving that stupid skirt a quick downward tug. Seriously, the thing was ridiculous. Ebony thought the person who’d picked it out for her had to obviously been a man and obviously had made sure it was one size too short, small, whatever he could. Another sigh slipped her lips before she refocused those silver eyes back on Lucia. “I don’t know if we’ve met before, but given the lack of a lower half…I’d take it you’re a Raevan. So you’ve probably seen me around some of the Lab events.”

Maili absentmindedly sucked on her candy cane as she strolled around the mall, bored already with what she saw. Suffocating amounts of faked Christmas cheer? Check. Avarice and greed baring it's head with increasing frequency? Check. Some thing genuinely interesting? Not so much. Maili had wanted to go to the mall to relieve the monotony of the day, and it had even worked at first. But it's effectiveness had worn off, so she had ditched Chris in an attempt to find something more interesting. An increasingly fruitless search, to her frustration. She was walking past the Santa pavilion--a place she hadn't even considered going to, because of her revulsion at the appalling regularity that kids her age believed that this person was actually Santa--when a glimmer of hope caught her eye. One of Santa's elves had no legs. In the legs' place was a spiraling belt, and the individual also had cat ears and dragon wings on her back to boot. While grudgingly getting into line, so she wouldn't get kicked out for cutting, Maili had an acute urge to tell these other kids just how stupid they were, but she restrained it as she looked at the helper. She had to meet this Interesting Individual.
The HELL with this! Chris said to herself, her temper at the breaking point. She knew Maili could take care of herself, and if something happened to her, too bad. She had been the one to run off, after all. Looking around, Chris' eyes alighted on the pet shop, and she quickly walked over to the store, making a beeline for one particular section--aquariums. After pushing past customers, making sure not to upset any pets, and even briefly glimpsing something she couldn't identify out of the corner of her eye, she came to the large glass tanks. Watching the fish swim about in the water, Chris' temper finally began to ebb, the presence of the water bound creatures soothing her frayed nerves. The Isle de Gambino aquarium where she worked would have been an even better place to calm down at, but one made do with what they had. Some annoyance remained, but it was much better than her rage earlier, and Chris was content to just remain there and watch the fish. Little did she know, if she turned around, she would catch sight of quite an interesting group around the puppy pen....

“Looking for a…mister?” Xiu echoed the explanation of the other but ending it with a question. Xiu was curious. Wasn’t a mister a title placed before a two legged man? If so, the woman couldn’t possibly be looking for a mister without a name. Nevertheless, Xiu allowed the question to be left unanswered and followed Zul as the raevan led him to where the puppy originated from. As they neared the pen, Xiu was surprised when Zul suddenly thrust the puppy into the arms of a woman while declaring her as ‘his woman’ and calling her Ailix. His woman? that was a rather bold statement Xiu thought before shifting his gaze to Alex and Niksia. “Pleased to meet you, Alex,” said Xiu politely with a slight nod of his head before turning to look sheepishly at Niksia “I do apologize but…I must have missed hearing your name,”
A slight motion a little further from the women notified Xiu of Ethan’s presence. The white haired raevan was visibly pleased at this. At last! A familiar face! But it would seem that Ethan was currently more interested with Zul as all he gave Xiu was a brief smile before offering his hand to Zul. Perhaps Xiu had offended him sometime in their last meeting? Or perhaps he was just excited to see a new raevan. Xiu didn’t know but smiled in Ethan’s direction anyway before floating backwards a little. It was fine to be in a company with another raevan but…seeing Zul and Alex together made Xiu feel…lonely? Xiu frowned slightly. He would not submit to self pity. He was sure that Hazeline would be searching for him as well. Surely she would not have behaved as badly as the father had in Hansel and Gretel. Sure, Mrs. Bediever was being rather skittish about Xiu and had expressed a displeasure at having him brought home but that was a long time ago. The old lady had now seemed to have accepted Xiu into the family so surely…
“And this paper would do well for letters to people you’ve not met in a long time!” said the persistent salesgirl as Hazeline tried to make a hasty getaway. “You sure you wouldn’t want one?”
“Err…thanks but no thanks,” replied Hazeline distractedly as she eyed the doorway. “I have more than enough family members that I’ve not seen in a long time let alone friends,”
“So you should definitely get this then!” said the salesperson shoving a wad of artificially scented paper pads into Hazeline’s face. “A hundred sheets!”
“Umm…hello?” a hesistant voice said and as the salesperson turned to eye the new potential customer who had stepped into the store, Hazeline took the opportunity to make a clean getaway. Once outside however, a small but determined to be firm voice greeted her.
“Err, yes? What can I do for you?” Hazeline asked as she eyed Grafficha. The woman before her certainly did not look like an over-eager salesperson and Hazeline visibly relaxed at this knowledge. “Look, I am a little rushed at the moment. I seem to have lost my…well…my…. Oh, his name’s Xiu,” finished Hazeline lamely for want of a better description.

Aaaaaah finally. Graficcha smiled brightly for a moment, then nodded eagerly. "You lost your Raevan, I know, I know his name's Xiu, I know you two got seperated." she said, still smiling like a little lightbulb. "You shouldn't be too worried, he's with Zul right now, close to the place with the little puppies." Nod nod nod. Pleased grin, until another question trickled into her thoughts, making her frown a little.
".... how in the WORLD could you lose him." wide-eyed stare. Her track of thought may not be reasonable, but she really didn't get how anyone could be so... so .. reckless? Whimsical? Unattentive? Neglectful? "He didn't look like he had any idea where to go in this mess.. Didn't you tell him what to do incase he got lost?" Ooooh you should've done that really, he looked so lost. Her expression wavered between skittishly reproachful and worried and err... ready to bolt, too.
Not much street credibility when it came to conversation style. At least she still had an overall positive impression of this guardian, so in her book, she could be forgiven for her nasty slipup. Xiu was okay now that he was with Zul, but oooooooh that could've turned out wrong too.

Alex laughed again at Niksia's words, grinning a little sheepishly. "You could say that. It happened under...ah, strange circumstance. He's my bundle of pride, joy and headaches." She smiled at her charge, who was looking between Ethan and Xiu curiously. "He's still learning a lot, but man, he's fast on some words." The woman turned to Ethan then, chuckling softly, "Indeed, Mr. Blake. Once you meet them, it's hard not to see them out and about. I've met a few others, but I haven't met...Xiu."
She repeated his name as it was spoken to her, inclining her head to him in returned greetings. "Are you out here on your own? You, ah..." The woman shifted through her mental catalogue of facts she had read on the spreadsheets for each Raevan, recalling the components and the name next to them... "Miss Lee, right? Are you shopping for her?" Alex was surprised to see Xiu on his own, but then again, the caretaker could be anywhere in this mess. "I work for Kyou, so I know names but it's definitely a first meeting," she apologized to Xiu, in case she seemed too forward.
"A marvel," Zul repeated with bright, intruiged eyes, curious by the extended hand. He had a jolt of memory of what his woman and her family person had taught him, reaching his own hand out to take the man's firmly, mindful of his temperature while he gave an experimental first hand-shake. He was a fast learner, and after having burned his woman, he was far more careful. "A marvel in turn, Mr. Blake."
The Raevan wasn't one to be polite, but he had caught the woman's use of his name and repeated it. Who better to know how to deal with humans than a human herself? Zul turned to look at Xiu, and without hesitation, he extended his other hand and gently took the lighter colored Frei's delicate hand in his gloved one. "Xiu, a marvel," he introduced the other, having not known they'd already met previous, "Mr. Blake. Ethan Blake. And a Neckseah. Enecksi..." He seemed to be having a problem with the red-head's name, but he'd only heard it once and not very clearly. Why humans had such complicated names, he might never understand.

If there was one thing Alessa absolutely adored about Gaia culture, it was the holiday sales. It was almost as if she could smell the sales, her eyes gleaming like a hunter about to finish off its prey. The heels on her boots made a confident thump on the mall floor as she surveyed her options. The rest of her was surprisingly modest compared to her usual, and her hair was half up in a stylishly messy fashion, topped off with an angled pageboy hat.
She had already cleared a few shops and was striding along when something quite frankly, yanked her attention out of the corner of her eye. Freezing in place, her head slowly turned in the direction of what she had first thought to be a man dressed in some kind of strange new BDSM gear, kinda daring for someone to try in a place like this at this time of year. Only, said person was.....without legs. And floating. And there were two of them. The second one, she quite liked. Flowing robes that swirled around the floating body with a nice, crisp touch of freshness.
Racking her brains for a bit, she recalled that she had heard something about some scientist in Gambino doing kooky experiments involving floating things. Guess what she had heard was true. Making note of that and logging it away in her mind, she didn't put much thought to it, as it wasn't exactly the kind of information her usual customers were looking for.
Now flat-out staring at the small group, Alessa's eyes caught one last thing. There was an Italian woman in that group. Admittedly, by sheer virtue of that fact alone, Alessa already felt close to that woman, even though she hadn't the faintest clue as to who she could be. And much as she wanted to walk straight up to her newfound comrade and burst out into Italian, there was a moderate crowd around her already.
Letting out a frustrated sigh, she shook her head. There were some puppies in the store behind Group-of-Interest A. And playing with them for a little bit did not seem like a bad idea at all she thought. Calmly walking past the group, she engaged contact with the first adorable little pup to come within her grasp.

The raevan's grip was a strong one, like that of a man, not a child, confident with his own status and presence. The boy's hand was slightly odd to the touch though, warmer than what Ethan had suspected - considering the boy had hardly a scrap of clothing on him on such a cold day, what was even stranger was that the boy’s body heat radiated so strongly through the material of his gloves.. None the less, Ethan instantly felt a liking towards this new extraordinary child. Zul seemed to show many of the qualities Ethan had grown to admire and respect throughout his life as a businessman.
Smiling widely at Zul's mimicked compliment he preceded to gesture towards Xui, who had a slightly upset expression upon his face; his pale features knotted into a frown. In an attempt to warm the cheer the white raevan up, he reinforced the compliment given by Zul. "Xui is indeed a marvel, just like you" He turned to face Xui more directly, smiling encouragingly as he spoke. "It's wonderful to see you again."
The raevan appeared well, despite his glum expression, his rune glowed vibrantly and his hair still had a healthy silky sheen to it. However, Ethan felt he should engage in polite conversation rather than continue to examine him like a curious animal - Xui had feelings and staring was rude, even towards a human. Ethan could imagine how sick the legless boy would be of having humans looking at him. "How're you? Been well since we last bumped into each other?"

The now sleeping spotted puppy was whisked from Niksia's arms by a helpful assistant, who was happily making sure the overstimulated animal got some rest after its little adventure. The now empty handed woman busied herself by tucking locks of waist length hair behind her ears in a slightly nervous fashion, looking a little younger than her actual 28 years as she did so. Speaking to Raevans wasn't a common thing for her yet even though she'd been around them quite a lot already at various events and had managed to speak to two or three, having the white and silver one address her was a surprise.
A faint smile graced her lips as she pulled her bright red scarf further from her face, which wasn't a guarantee at being better understood. Having an unusual name was fun in the respect of giving you something to discuss, or at least explain.
'It's Niksia. Not always the easiest to understand. I'm not sure I caught yours either?' Being able to look at him as they spoke was something Niksia enjoyed, the legless creatures held a sort of unnatural beauty for her. The white and silver coupled with the hints of blue made her wonder what on earth had gone into creating him, there weren't hints of ice or cold like with others of a similar appearance.
Briefly catching Alex's response in the huddle, the scarlet haired woman laughed softly at her explanation of having gained such a strange looking charge.
'I'd love to hear about it, when you have the time.'
Watching the amusing antics that started to unfold between the two Raevans had Niksia nearly in stitches, as she realised the darker one Alex looked after wasn't having a better time with her name either! She put a gloved hand to her mouth to cover up an impending fit of giggles.
'Nix-ee-ah?' It was hard, remembering how to say your own name without any strange accents or the like causing confusion! Niksia couldn't wait to hear him say it again.
