technically, all he said is what we do in present day. we still ride horseback for competitions and farm life, we use archery in forms of competition, and the same with swords if you look more towards kendo and fencing. these have just been traded in life for more compact and easier weapons, as we've done through out time.

the bow long since change to a crossbow and then a musket and now as far as a pistol.

horseback has been traded for the automotive world. like said, horseback riding isn't forgotten, just not as common.

the sword has been dropped for the knife, smaller and does the same thing.
