He chuckled to himself, though it was soft, as he was truly attempting not to flare her temper as he did it. One had to admit that it wasn't every day a male could pour out his feelings while keeping a straight face and being amused about it all at once. Just another one of the quirks of his upbringing no doubt. There was no awkward shuffling or stammering on his side, just a quirked brow as he listened to her try to reason it out. "Yes, it's not so hard to believe is it?" Maybe it was, and he just had a thing or two to learn.
As she finally seemed to decide that it was alright to be having this conversation with him, that the world wasn't going to break, he relaxed the fraction he had tensed and settled himself comfortably against her again. He wasn't quite sure what he had done to her by saying what he had, but he didn't think it had been all bad - just very surprising. "Good," he said softly, knowing that he meant it, no matter how joking he appeared to be ninety percent of the time.
As she lay her head back down on the ground, he relaxed again and stretched his head over her neck. It wasn't unlike the position before, or like those they had been in while traveling back through the desert, and it was certainly one that was somewhat protective. Still, it felt like a change, even if there was nothing noticeably different. Now, if he could only figure out what he'd done.
