The drawn out sounds confused him some, speaking to him of uncertainty or perhaps disagreement. The idea of someone disagreeing with him was beyond foreign and simply inconceivable. Brilliant blue eyes turned back towards the water, watching it churn and withdraw, before looking back to Sevilin. Yes, the shifting hues and spectrum of blue was suitable for the watery Frei, and that was good enough for Zul.

Small brows lifted at the inquiry, looking dubiously towards the ever moving waves. "Swimming?" he repeated, clearly not understanding the term. His fingers relaxed as the sea fairy slipped slender, cool fingers within his grasp, his own temperature pleasantly moderate, a bit warmer than the cool breeze coming off of the ocean. "I don't know." His statement was clearly spoken, knowing the concept of swimming but not knowing much how he or anyone else actually performed the act. The concept of being under water was a little lost of him.

Sevilin stared up at Zul quietly, keeping his hair at bay from the whipping wind with a few placed fingers behind his long fins. Feeling the baphomet's warmth seeping into his cool hand, he looked down and smiled. "It's pretty easy. No real skill involved which is nice..." The blue frei laughed gently and looked out to sea. It was a beautifully calm day. The waves crested and broke lazily with the strong winds. Nothing too dangerous for a beginning sea goer.

"Like ya jes float out and like.... paddle... you know?" Catching Zul's blue eyes, he stretched out both arms and began to dog paddle around in a circle. "Or ya can jes lay on yer back and float, and go uuup and doown on the waves. Oh! And and and!" Sevilin floated back to Zul, holding on to his forearms with a gentle strength. "I'll show you fishes and sharks! Have you ever seen a shark?! UH-mazing!" Though, as this was his first visit to this stretch of beach, he couldn't really say if there was much shark activity around here. But he was sure to find Zul something interesting.

Blue eyes observed the strange motions and words that the Frei spoke with, blinking at the paddling motion. It looked awfully silly to him, failing to see how any form of fun would involve flailing quite like that. Zul continued to simply stare at Sevilin, holding his arms still as the older Raevan leaned against him. He was awfully vibrant, even if the demon didn't quite understand all that the fairy was speaking of.

"No," he finally replied at length, to all questions involved. His smile was just barely in place, uncertainty on his tan face as he soaked in the challenge that the ocean brought. A quick glance to his woman showed that she hadn't heard the conversation, having set down the goods some ways away from them, looking over her phone. Which meant she was a bit useless to him in this situation.

And he was not one to back down from a challenge, newly born as he was. Lifting his chin in a prideful manner, he nodded, the sun playing off his hair with the motion as though it were living flame itself. "Will try," he said with a lot more conviction than he felt, lifting one hand to pat one of Sevilin's that rested on his forearm.

"YAAY! That's the spirit!" The only thing Sevilin was missing in his cheer was a jump and click of his heels to finish it all off. He needed more swimming pals and so help him, he would make a believer out of Zul. And there will be epic adventures to be had in the sea! Arr har har!

But he was getting ahead of himself. Zul needed to touch the water first before anything else could be decided. "H'okay! Hold on to my hand..." The last thing he needed was Zul to drift off and have Alex in a rage over losing her baby. We`rika might like her up his a**, but he was not a fan of a rageful Italian.

And so, he grasped his right gloved hand firmly and lead the couple to the end of the water, lapping just out of reach of their ribbons. "The beginning of it is kinda rough, with the waves and all. You can get tossed around pretty easily so we hafta be careful..." He hadn't been to this stretch of beach before so he has no clue about the usual condition of this sea. Floating down without breaking his hold on Zul, he dipped his hand into the sea foam. "Ohhh not too cold! This'll be fun! Wanna put yer hand in?" Best to get him familiar with it before just dropping him like a, well, floating sack of potatoes.... or something.

He wasn't sure about this 'spirit' thing, but he supposed it was good if it made Sevilin so happy. The demon obediently held onto the sea fairy's hand, allowing himself to be drawn closer to the seemingly peaceful, sand-lapping waves. Zul could see the power in the waves futher off, the churning of water that made them grow and ultimately crash; he did not see how swimming in that could possibly be fun or rewarding, but he was willing to listen and learn, if need be.

"Careful," he repeated in acknowledgement, definitely feeling the idea was perhaps one taken even more slowly than this. In fact, if they never reached the water, that would be a desirable pace! Zul found his ribbon being gently tugged on by the warm, clear water, and it soothed him. He supposed he'd been afraid the white foam would just devour him on the spot, but it wasn't entirely foolish given how the water kept getting sucked in only to get thrown back out.

His free hand lowered, tanned fingers trailing into and through the water, admiring the fact that he could see his fingers when the foam didn't blanket them. The hand eventually submerged, but he couldn't really tell if the water was cold or warm - it just was. Blue eyes turned inquisitively to Sevilin, as though to ask if he was doing it right.

Sevilin smiled back pleasantly, putting his hand beside Zul's, testing the unfamiliar stretch of water. His slim fingers curled through the waves as if trying to capture it within his hand. "Feels weird the first time doesn't it? It's not... light like the air, but it's not hard and unyielding either. Makes it fun to play in...." Pulling his hand back, he licked off the excess saltwater from his hand and looked to the ocean.

"There's a drop in the wind right now. No better time to jump right in! I'll go first..." Nodding, he wandered confidently through the falling waves, only covering his face once when a particularly mean crest of water sprayed across his little body. He covered it up with quick laughter so Zul didn't have time to start second guessing this whole idea. "H'okay! See? It won't hurt or anything, jes water..... Noothing to worry about...!"

With an encouraging smile, Sevilin stuck out his arms, just in case Zul need some assistance floating on in to the ribbon-deep water. "We don't have to go very far in if you dun wanna..."

Inquisitive blue eyes watched the water faerie slip effortlessly into the water, the small wave cresting around Sevilin's form without so much as a wince of discomfort. The demon felt bolstered by Sevilin's fearless approach to the water, and righting himself, Zul decided he'd give it a try.

He was slow, but that was to be expected of a newborn waltzing into something as broad and awe-inspiring as the ocean. The water soaked his ribbon, although he didn't feel it much beyond a sort of gentle weight, his temperature in sync with the warm water. His fingers extended to reach for Sevilin's, still a fair distance from the Frei but it didn't stop him from trying, giving him a goal of sorts. The water raised but Zul kept himself calmly submerging, soothed by the sea fairy's blue eyes.

The demon didn't immediately notice when the water began to swirl a bit beneath him, a small indent from the power of his rune making his ribbon curl a bit. As the rune got closer, however, he felt a strange sort of burst of energy, glancing down to see what was happening. Zul was not prepared to see the water boiling within the circle of his ribbon, the bubbles popping and spitting up chunks of ice. It took the Frei several seconds of staring with wide eyes to register what was happening, and once one of the ice chunks smacked him in the forehead, the newborn was reeling and zipping out of the water as though his ribbon had caught fire and the water was gasoline.

Zul didn't stop until he had nearly knocked Alex over, spinning around behind her and pointing accusingly at the ocean. "THINGS," he insisted in a mixture of fright and annoyance, glaring at the water over her shoulder.

The Italian steadied herself just barely before looking out to the calm ocean waves, any sign of his rune's reaction gone. Even his ribbon was nearly dried already. "There's a lot of things out there," she agreed with laughter, waving to Sevilin. "See? Sevvie likes it out there. Be careful, Sev!" Alex couldn't help but ask for caution from the fairy, even if the sea was more his home than any four walls.

"Uhhh..." Sevilin's jaw just sort of fell slack as his eyes steered away from Zul's hand and to the rather peculiar spectacle that surrounded his chest. The water pulled away from him, churning around the demon's body violently like a turbine as it spat steam and bubbled from an immense amount of heat. As if that wasn't weird enough, the very steam began to turn into shards of ice.

It was like watching We`rika terrorize Sprinkles with the vacuum. Was it bad that he found it sooooo cute, this man scrambling back to his mom like a scaredy cat? Well, one thing he knew, the sea fairy needed to work on his warning signal. Just saying "uhhhh" didn't seem to alert anyone.

"Ah--Zul....!" Cupping a handful of sea water and throwing it across his shoulders and cheeks (so he didn't dehydrate), he quickly raced over to the young frei. "Are you okay? I didn't think--err well I've never seen that happen to anyone before..." Frowning, Sevilin raised his hand and gently rubbed his thumb over the slight ruddy skin of Zul's forehead. "Sorry..." He was sorry mostly because Zul would never be able to fully appreciate the wonders of the sea!! How could anyone live with themselves?! It was a crime against nature.

One that needed to be remedied.

"Hang on jes a sec... I'll be careful!" With that, Sevilin fled back to the ocean and dipped under the water. He eventually popped his blue head back up, looked around and wandered back down into the ocean. Finally, the sea fairy resurfaced with a wave of his hand and wandered back to show off his hard work.

"Lookit!" He raised an arthropod up to Zul. "It's a horse shoe crab! Cute isn't it? Well... actually... it's pretty bloody ugly, but maybe thas what makes it kinda cute, huh? Hahaha..." The large sea creature clicked and wiggled its numerous legs in mild frustration. "It can breathe outside of water, so I thought I'd bring him over to ya..."

Zul just stared and blinked a few times, gripping one of Alex's arms. His blue eyes nearly crossed as the sea fairy touched his brow, before lowering to look Sevilin the eye. "Thanks," he murmured a little abashedly at the elder Frei's care. Now that the initial shock was over, he felt a bit...giddy. As if the experience had been a thrill all along - touching the flame before it burned you, as it were.

The Italian watched the two with a raised eyebrow in question, obviously having missed something. One hand rested on her hip (since her other arm was still being held by her charge) as Sevilin ventured back out into the great blue yonder, green eyes crinkling around the edges as the sea fairy disappeared into the waves. Alex thought she should probably be alarmed, but the rational part of her mind - the scientific part, anyway - told her that Sevilin could probably swim better than an olympist.

She was proved correct as the blue Frei emerged, lifting her hands and clapping (which still was an odd gesture with her elbow being occupied). "Sevvie!" she laughed delightedly, "I didn't know you could, y'know, actually swim!" Admittedly, Alex hadn't thought much about it. Without legs, it seemed that such feats would be impossible, but she knew better than to be so faithless in the face of Raevans.

He tried to look polite, but his face immediately screwed into curiosity and amusement. "Cute?" he echoed, but Sevilin's correction made him laugh. Regaining some of his calmness and squashing the desire to race back into the water to see if he could make that weird swirl again, he released his woman's arm and instead extended his fingers to touch the shell. It was slick and rough. "Very...not cute," Zul confirmed again, although he was grinning now at the flailing legs.

Bending over as well as he could, he watched the legs move in such multitudes with amazement. He sure hoped humans didn't grow those. "Thank you," he said more fully as he righted himself again, thumb rubbing over the shell again before lightly patting Sevilin's hand with gratitude. "Sevilin."

His grin grew ear to ear at Alex's amazement in his skills. "Weell, it's more of a paddling and a flailing of ... wings..." He admitted sheepishly, hefting the horseshoe crab higher as its slippery shell began to slide through his fingers. "Ugh, yer so heavy!" The little frei's tongue flopped out of his gaping maw to chastise the arthropod below him, and it worked. It began to click and squeak with agitation, his tail swiping back and forth for Sevilin. "Jeez! Sassy much!" It didn't help that Zul had called him ugly either. Oh well.

The sea fairy's cold hand warmed under his friend's palm and his bright smile softened for Zul. "Yer welcome.... Well, be free lil crab!" Floating down to the sand, the watery raevan set the large ugly bugger gently on the shore, but it apparently wasn't satisfied so easily. "Be fr--ahhh!" The horseshoe crab clicked and squawked and began to wack Sevilin with its tail. He practically jumped into the baphomet's arms to escape the wrath of an angry sea creature. "This ocean is not very nice..."

The demon had no qualms with the sea fairy nearly jumping into his arms; quite the opposite, as he easily wrapped one arm beneath Sevilin's dainty wings, the other lowering - by instinct or by comfort - towards his ribbon, rather prepared to lift him and carry him off if need be. Zul chuckled, a sound of rolling smoke. "Not nice," he parroted his agreement, lifting that ribbon in his grasp just a bit to keep the flailing sea critter at bay.

Alex could only laugh. Watching Sevilin jumping into her charge, who simply reacted with ease...to see their situations changed from a few minutes before was amusing to her. "Oh she's plenty nice, when left to her own devices," she smiled out over the blue expanse, a touch of wistful fondness on her features. After a moment of admiration, she turned to the two Frei's and donned a large grin. "Why don't we go admire it from the patio then, huh? I might have some taffy somewhere in that house of mine for my favorite sea-fairing darling."

Like his Guardian, Zul's sky-blue eyes turned over the water with wistfulness, but it was different from the human in that there was excitement - and perhaps a healthy dose of respect - for the blanket of cerulean that stretched beyond the horizon. At the sound of her voice, though, his gaze moved to Sevilin, his smile growing. "And my...friend," he added, as if that held much more weight than holding Alex's favor. And just maybe...it did.
