It had never really bothered him that Iggy hadn't noticed. Not like it had with Riley, or with some of the others. He wondered why that was, then snorted inwardly. It was because he expected Iggy to be that way. "We're cool," he said. "And you're mine, as well."
Him and Jace, those were the two people Antony permitted himself to cling to. As well as his father, of course, but that was different. His father was doomed to be stuck with him until he died. Family loyalty, and what not.
The fact that he still believed in that showed just how young he was.

The confirmation relaxed the other boy and Antony was delivered another huge, white smile. "Cool," Iggy said. "Really cool. I've missed you." He gestured vaguely back the way they came. "I've been spendin' so much time here that Evan says he's gonna start payin' me. But you've been kinda gone and Riley and Jace and..." He wrinkled his nose. "Some of the others have grown up, too," he suddenly commented. "They smell different and look different. Some of them... Smell really, really different."

His mind rushed, thinking over how Iggy reacted to things. He saw with his nose, after all. "The girls," he said finally. "Am I right? Wisp, Delilah, Irelia?"

"Oh, yeah." Iggy nodded firmly. "Riley did but she's, y'know, Riley. She's kinda ozone and feathers. It's neat." He lifted his chin and stared out across the park. His golden eyes unfocused a bit as if he were trying to recall the others better. "I mean, I haven't seen them or been up close but I pass 'em in the halls or," he had the grace to look supremely embarrassed, "sometimes I can just smell 'em, like, a hall over without even seeing them."
He sighed heavily. "Wisp smells like Skittles and that's really kinda wrong, isn't? Irelia is dusty but grass, too. Like the way cut grass smells in the summer after it's been in the sun. Delilah smells like... I dunno flowers so she's just flowers. Like honey ones or something."

"Fascinating," Antony said, being honest for once. Iggy smelled in pictures. But it also meant that he now noticed the difference between males and females. "Wisp has a thing for you, you know," he said, knowing Wisp would kill him if she knew he had told. "But don't let her know I told you so."

Iggy dragged his attention back to his friend and squinted. "She does? What is it? Like a surprise birthday gift or something? It's not my birthday."

"Not that kind of thing," Antony said, inwardly groaning. He should have known better than to put it that way. "She likes you. Like she wants to go out with you. That kind of thing."

"I don't see why not," he said. But the question was, who would he ask to go with him, so Wisp could throw herself at Iggy without making him uncomfortable.

That gave Ignacio pause and he stared at Antony with renewed blankness. Finally, he wrinkled his nose. "Who said anything about dates?"

Antony sighed. "Don't worry about it, Iggy, it'll be fun. That's all that matters." And the rest he would leave up to Wisp, he thought silently. "Ready to go now?"

"Oh, alright." Ignacio bounced to his feet as if the change of subject was a huge relief. "Race you home?" Then, not even giving his friend a chance, he set off at an inhuman trot.
... It looked like a sensitive nose was not the only thing Ignacio Garcia was developing.
