One more thing to point out... School sizes

For example, places like... Mizzou, Oxford, IPFW are HUGE! They have sprawling campuses that cover several different areas in one city. Harvard has a campus so large, that it's takes place in several different parts of several different cities

http://map.harvard.edu/

Now places like Wentworth and Colby Sawyer are TINY, one central parking lot, have all the building close together, never have to leave campus.

However one of the main differences between Wentworth and Colby Sawyer is the fact that Wentworth is surrounded by other colleges, who often have joint access policies to grounds and extra-cricular activities.

Colby Sawyer is effectively... in the middle of nowhere. Surrounded on 3 sides by mountains with only one main road going through New London, which is a double yellow center line known as Main Street. It doesn't even have a route number. However, it's very close to Lake Sunapee, which is a vacation tourist trap. The town of New London is comprised mostly of 3000 white people. It's very nice, very quiet, and very tranquil. If you ever wanted to get away from it all, and put your self in a place with nothing to distract you, Colby Sawyer is the place for you.

That and occasionally the Dean of Students will make an announcement that basically goes like this.

"Attention Members of the Faculty and Students of Colby Sawyer, today is a very nice day, so I'm canceling all classes to declare Mountain Day. This is a completely voluntary activity to visit and climb Mount Kearsarge."

BTW that only happens about... once a year, when the Dean says... "MOUNTAIN DAY" but it's so NICE! when it happens.

Wentworth... is on Huntington Ave AKA route 9. It's near malls, cultural centers, bars, restaurants, ample public transportation. No class cancellations for nice days, the students can take care of themselves.

My college was the open enrollment, least expensive 4year school in the US.

Woot. Just got university status last year.
AND the students from this school had the highest starting wage average of any school in the state.
Go UVSC! (or UVU, now...)

Well, here in Australia you get your University Admission Index (basically a rank of how you performed in relation to other students in your state) on December 17th. But you put down 9 course + university preferences by late September. So yeah, basically I have to wait another month to see if I got a ranking decent enough to get me into any of the courses I chose. sweatdrop

This all makes my brain hurt, seeing as I'm only just now applying to the Highschool I should be going to. I have no idea where I'll be going for College but I do know where I want to go to cooking school.

Althought I've always wanted to go to the CIA, that will never happen so here is my new dream. http://www.jerusalemculinaryinstitute.com/home.html
On my first (and only so far) trip to Israel last spring, my family and I dropped in and talked with the few people that were there at the time.

I recommend training yourself in Safardic and Mediterranean food prep.

Start with watching Bizarre Food with Andrew Zimmer and maybe No Reservations with Anthony Bourdain

then start shoving things into grape leaves and bell peppers.

You'll need to know the business before you apply, they at least expect you to know how to cook the basics.

(also, yet another thread that turned to food)

Oh Cindy, my friend is applying for pre-Med at Washington U next year!

I don't apply for nursing school til the spring. YEAH! I get to procrastinate just a little longer than the rest of yous. I'm reppin' the LICH or QCC, my preference (it might be a community college, but it has one of the best nursing programs in New York state).

I'm also looking for ASN programs in St. Louis and Chicago. I might not get in to any, but let's pray I do! I just know one thing, I don't want to stay here.

biggrin If you or your friend comes to St. Louis or Chicago, I will totally give you tours! And cookies! And there will be much rejoicing! (WashU is within reasonable driving distance of my house. Not close, but not like 19 hours or anything)

No idea what all those acronyms are, though, and I'm back to studying for a Psych test that I'm not looking them up now. blaugh

I hope you get in LICH, there's more Jews in Long Island than in Israel.

You'll be completly immersed in the culture.

But I don't like stuffed grape leaves.......And although I can cook regular food, I'm really more intrersted in pastry and whatnot, But my dad said that if I when to JCI he would want me to take both courses.
