Mareike nodded ruffled her feathers and worked carefully to paint thing blue intersecting lines representing the rackets netting. it took only a few miniatures of trying to get all the tiny lines right before she threw down her brush and glared at the half finished picture. " There's too many pieces." too many peices and her eyes hated staring at the small lines and it was boring so very boring.

"Well take a break, or push through it. This is an exercise in your diligence and focus, so pushing through might be the better plan, but taking it slow might also be a good option. If you're frustrated, go hit the punching bag a bit more, or sit down and fume." he said, half watching her actions.

Mareike merely stared at the fallen brush and debated crushing it with her foot. If she broke the brush then she wouldn't have to paint anymore. Still giving up wasn't normal for her, only gymnastic had been deemed to pointless to continue besides part of the problem was that it was hard and running away becuase it was hard was not an option.
Picking up the brush she gripped the brush tightly and resumed her painting. Sacrificing the perfect lines for quick flicks of the bush which completed the pattern faster if a bit messier. Mareike finished the picture and eyed it critically, it looked pretty much like her tennis racket.

Rachel relaxed, feeling both confident in how this was going and a bit bored. He liked to feel that he was actually doing some damn work for his classes, but sometimes all that was really necessary was to give prodding now and then and let the students reason things out for themselves. He liked to relax enough that he would and could sit by while they worked out their problems, but that didn't mean he didn't occasionally feel that he was slacking.
He watched Mareike quietly, not really commenting on her behavior. He actually had bought spare brushes, not sure whether or not a wrath child highly opposed to his methods might break a few to get out of the world, but so far he didn't need to bring them out. Mareike was dealing with her issues on this subject, and making decisions and that was the goal, really.
"Looks good." he commented, his praise intended mostly to calm the girl a bit. It did look pretty good for a beginner - he was used to Whisper's work, but he understood how kids could be, particularly ones who didn't really want to be doing art.

Mareike shrugged at the praise this time her mind already beginning to wander again. Returning to the paints she swiftly dipped a hand into an orange container and then pressed it onto the last outlined space. " Done" Mareike still wasn't sure she'd learned anything today, except maybe the best ways to paint and how to hold the brush so your hand didn't cramp, which didn't seem all that important.
Turning she face the teacher and looked at him expectantly" I can go home now?" Her main eyes watched him while the third took in the sight of her paint stained palm while she wondered how long she'd have to bathe before it came off.

Rachel looked at her for a moment and thought.
"Punch that bag, and concentrate the way you did when you were painting. Then you can go." he said at last.

Mareike sighed. the orange paint was drying on her hand and it was starting to feel itchy and weird. Still it was just one more thing.
She marched over to the punching bag and centered all three of her eyes on it. As she kept her attention on just one spot she drew back her clean fist and threw punch at her target. It was quiet a surprise when the bag yield more to her than before. " Painting made me stronger?" It made no sense none at all.

Rachel laughed lightly. For a man with 'no sense of humor', he actually did seem to have at least a bit of it in him, maybe even though he didn't notice it.
"Not stronger, no, just more skillful. You hit that bag with the same force, this time you just knew where to aim better and your punch was direct to the proper point without swaying or being distracted. All of your energy didn't go into aiming and trying to making your punch hit at all, and instead was focused into doing the bag damage. That is what makes diligence and wrath such a terrific fighting combo when properly trained. Good day, Mareike." he explained before opening the door and bowing the girl out.
