Dragon Knights 11/29/08 - 12/9/08 the Dragon Knights The four Dragon Knights are the Porcelain Empire's highest-ranked military officers of the Knight path. Chosen for their skill with weapons or strategic prowess or good connections, they derive their authority directly from the Empress and are authorized to disobey the Generals or even the regional Queens if they believe it is necessary. They are the aristocrats of the military arts, with servants and housing in every city and their pick of the land's outstanding young warriors for their personal units and Squires.
Only the most skilled and Lucid warriors can dream of becoming Dragon Knights... and only the most circumspect and eloquent RPers can hope to receive them as characters. Show me the heights of your wits and creativity, and perhaps you shall become a Dragon Knight as well.the Event Four Dragon Knights, plus a few related characters, will be distributed in a roleplay contest.
The judge is I, Setsushi, alone, and I will be using subjective but extremely ruthless criteria to decide the winner. If not enough applicants are up to these standards, then not all the Knights will be distributed.
The contest is open to whitelist players only, who have already proved that they have passable RP skills for the shop; but as the Dragon Knights are high-ranked ancients with complicated backstories and relations, I will be using far stricter criteria to judge; entries must show marvelous creativity and eloquence and an especially good grasp of the Porcelain backstory. I only want to give these characters to people I know will play them well!
I will, most likely, be biased towards oldbies. Newbies who don't win will probably receive generics soon after the contest, though.Original rough, planny writeup here

Dragon Knights Rules All the usual rules and guidelines of the shop will, of course, be in effect.Entries accepted from 11/29/08.

Form of an entry The part of your entry which will be judged by Setsushi will consist of a minimum 200-word roleplay. Longer is better, but 200 words is the minimum. You have two choices for its format:
1. Prompt response
When the event officially begins, I will post a couple choices of prompts. You may then write a single piece of prose, featuring a suggested historical character or your own made-up historical character, of at least 200 words.
2. SPEC roleplay
You can make a roleplay thread in the Golden World subform, labeled [SPEC] or [SPEC*] (meaning "speculative",) and make at least 200 words worth of posts using a suggested historical character or your own made-up historical character. You can do this solo or work together with another player and use one of the prompts or make up your own scenario. Each player in such an RP will be judged separately.Filling out the entry form When your roleplay is ready and applications are open, fill out an entry form and send it to Imperial Princess Rika.
You do not have to apply for every single Dragon Knight; if there's one you don't want, don't list her, and simply leave the leftover numbers blank.
If you don't want any of the Dragon Knights, but you do want Mr. Ma or Miss Ma, leave all the Dragon Knight numbers blank, and say "Yes" to the characters you want.

Meanwhile, I will get in contact with the winner of Ma Chao and make sure she is okay with the winners of Mr. Ma and Miss Ma. Once everything is worked out, I will announce the winners of Mr. Ma and Miss Ma. The winners of Ma Chao, Mr. Ma, and Miss Ma will then send their 5k trades to Rika.
Once the trades are initiated, I will send out the characters' backstories and accept the trades; once the trades are completed, I will add their certs to their journals, and the winners will be their official players!

Dragon Knights Historical Speculative PRP How to do a [SPEC]? A historical speculative RP is much like a private RP, with a few special specifications:
1. Please include, in the first post, the players who will be participating and the characters they will be using.
If not using pre-extisting historical characters, please include a brief description of your new characters.
2. Historical speculation will not be considered to have actually happened.
It's speculative, after all. This is not a "restriction" so much as it's a license to do practically anything you want; kill off Setsushi, overthrow the Empire, whatever, but...
3. ...you do have to respect the backstory.
The point of the [SPEC] is to judge how well you understand and can creatively build upon the backstory, after all.
Still confused and not sure what to roleplay? Think Romance of the Three Kingdoms or Hero, with Porcelain. Or build upon one of the historical documents (Rika's [DOC] posts); roleplay the events it describes, or perhaps try writing a counterfeit document concerning similar themes.

Cherry Fall 09 http://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/viewtopic.php?page=1&t=14043469#170283318   In Eastern Toukoku, the cherry trees flower from around the first of Ascent, Cherry Blossom, until the fourteenth, Cherry Fall, though the precise date of blossoming depends on the latitude of the town. Around the Capital City, the delicately pink-white blooms are at their height around Cherry Fall, and the skillfully landscaped Palace gardens fill with courtiers and scholars shirking their duties in favor of drinking in the beauty. These numerous flower-viewing parties provide an excellent opportunity, too, for lovely young maidens, competing with the blossoms, their paleness offsetting their subtle blushes, and newly established ladies, wearing bright red flower pendants to signify their availability for courtship, to gaze upon one another and feel the first stirrings of love.
... But the Fifth Imperial Princess, age 9, knows that flowers aren't the correct way to catch the attention of the one you deeply desire -- rather, the true way is through bugs.
And so she painstakingly collected samples from all over the isles, not limiting herself to only her beloved beetles of Toukoku but requesting, commissioning, buying, begging, and stealing from the natural historians of the Empire in order to assemble a collection of the very most beautiful and interesting creepy-crawlies in all the land. She was sure, sure that he would never receive such a rare and unique gift as hers in his life, and she was confident that she would leave the impression of a lifetime.
But her scheme was undone. On the day he was supposed to attend one of the parties in the garden, she too eagerly picked up the case and hurried out the door of her study, tripped on the hem of her robes, and fell forward on the landing of the stairs. While she herself did not fall, the case broke, and the painstakingly collected bugs tumbled, like a waterfall, down the steps, falling into heating grates, tangling with the carpets, and rolling off the sides onto the heads of passing scholars.
The Fifth Imperial Princess did not appear at the party that afternoon.

Cherry Fall 09 
To celebrate Cherry Fall, the main Porcelain holiday of the month of Ascent, as well as to participate in the Easter scavenger hunt tradition and to acknowledge our two conspicuously single NPCs for Black Day, we're holding a silly little event. On the first page of the shop and scattered throughout the Guild are some of Rika's favorite bugs. Find one, and you'll get a ticket in a raffle for simple chibi art by Setsushi!
When?
This event will run from around 4/10 to, at latest, 4/20!
A small number of bugs will be placed before the 14th. The names and numbers of the bugs will be announced in the main thread at the time they go up.
On the 14th, the rest will be released into the thread and Guild.
On the 16th, if all the bugs haven't been claimed, the bug/ticket limit will be raised.
On the 18th, if all the bugs still haven't been claimed, the remaining slots will be canceled, and the raffle will go ahead.
Once all the tickets have been claimed OR the 18th has come, the raffle will be held!! Random numbers will be generated for the distribution of prizes. <3
There will then be a 48 hour period to trade bugs and have them certed.
The deadline is technically 12:20am EST 4/20, but we're not super-strict.
Hints!
- Look in the Guild and the front page of the shop.
- Bugs will only appear in postings by Imperial Princess Rika, Setsushi, and Asahi Kumoru.
- Bugs will not be hidden in long RP threads, 'cause we're not quite that evil. Instead, suspect the Guide, info and backstory threads, first pages of journals, and so forth.

You can tell who did which bug 'cause Kumo's are all adorably cute, and Setsushi's are all nightmare fuel.
This ingenious event was devised by Kumo, who is both brilliant and insane.

Cherry Fall 09 When you find a bug and click on it, you'll be linked to its image. Copy the URL of the image and paste it in the main shop thread (there's no form required to help you save time!) The first person to post a bug's URL will get its raffle slot. If you find a bug image but its link has been disabled, it's already been claimed.
For now, you may only hold one ticket, so only the first bug you post will count. If people are slow claiming all the tickets, we may increase this limit. We have indeed raised the limit to two per person! So if you already claimed one bug, you may claim one more. <3
4/16 1:10AM EST: Don't edit bugs into old posts! Edits have no timestamps so if there's a conflict, it becomes impossible to tell who claimed the bug first.
