Shadows eyes flickered to glance at Nani when she stood beside him and for a moment, everything didn't seem all bad. The frightful male, looking as if he wanted to kill them, the humiliation, his disapointment in himself.... Now that he thought about it, this was the way he wanted to go. Standing up for himself and Nani even though it was obvious he would lose and with Nani by his side. His eyesight blurred again and when it was clear, he saw her lying on her back, the sign of defeat clear. It was unwritten law that one should never attack the opponent once said opponent gives up and flashes the bright "white flag" of his or her stomach. He knew this, and he knew he would be safe if he did the same. His light gray stood out from his dark fur, after all. But he didn't. He crawled towards Nani, resting beside her. His fur bristled slightly but he ignored the feeling and closed his eyes, nuzzling against her.

Nani looked over at Shadow as he nuzzled near her, and she flinched when the other male snapped at her. Looking to Shadow's wound, she gently rolled back over, pressing against Shadow's side, "You... You're not the one whose hurt.... You'er much older than us. Our skin is weak and tender, no matter how brave we are. You've hurt him badly. Please, help him fix it up, and then we'll leave you in peace, sir. Please.... He won't last until we get home with that wound....." she gave him her big innocent angel eyes, ears folded back slightyl as she quivered.

He glared and looked left and right. He gave a single, long, howl, and then turned and bolted into the woods. A female howl answered his from the field. A few moments passed and a lith female bounded over the hill. She had black and grey patterns on her fur. Ginjosk snorted and had an alarmed look on her face. "I heard your howl." she said. "what's wrong?"

Shadow, startled by the sudden howl, jumped. He peeked up from his place beside Nani and looked around, surprised to see the scary male had run off. He would have barked in victory, thinking they had scared the male off, if his side didn't sting. He got up shakily on his paws when he thought the male had left, flinching from the pain. "I think we've had enough adventure for today." he murmured. "Do you want to go home?" he certainly did but he didn't want Nani to think he was a coward or a weakling so he acted as if he couldn't care any less where they went. He sniffed at the grass between his paws as if to tell her to that he had all day.
