She gave a thin smile.
“I was drugged by my master, put into a cardboard box and thrown away.”
Valiant looked away. He was a cruel one, she knew that not all humans were that way, but she didn’t want to risk it.
“I prefer helping people, no matter what the cost, but I will always be weary of humans.”

Remi looked taken aback. "I'm sorry." he said. "I had no idea." It was kind of like a Tintin plot, he thought secretly. Like she had been captured by a Bad Guy. "I think that if you can help people you have to. Like, it's wrong if you don't..." He bit his lip. "But I don't think all people are tiresome... It's like cats, really. There's good guys and bad guys." He nodded slowly. "Grandfather always said that I shouldn't judge people, so I try not to."
Still, he would never REALLY trust little human girls. They tended to enjoy a sick game they called 'dress-up time'.

Valiant smiled to him.
“Its ok, just when you have been treated as I have, you have to be weary of humans.”
She pounced on him once more.
“so are you going to help or not?”

Remi laughed, trying to fend her off. "Yes, yes, I promise!" He looked ahead. "The park is right there." he said cheerfully. "So... What kind of home would you like?" He ran a hand through his hair thoughtfully. "Hollow trees are nice, but a little damp. Under a bench, that's good in summer, I guess... Maybe we can find a cave somewhere."

She smiled
“a cave sound nice, maybe we will find one of your monsters.” She giggled and strode forward toward the benches.
Caves in a park? What were they thinking?
But either way she would find somewhere to sleep for the night.
Her box wouldn’t be able to hold yet after another rain.

Remi shook his head. "No, it's BAD GUYS I fight." he explained proudly. "I'm not cut out for monsters." He looked around the park, careful to stay out of the sight of human children playing. "Let's think... A good home for a young lady." Technically she was a damsel in distress, which kind of made it his job to help her, as a professional Good Guy. He looked around. Somewhere sheltering... "Oh!" he cried out. "The shed!"
The humans who tended the park had a shed full of tools. It was warm and dark and full of hiding places and crawl holes. "Let's try there." Remi exclaimed.

“Ok! But what about you, where would you stay?” she asked following his lead.
Didn’t the boy know that everything had potential to be a monster? Bad guys were monsters in others clothing.
Children were everywhere… this made valiant a bit skittish.

Remi smiled. "Don't worry about me." he said. "I'm an explorer! I sleep wherever my feet lead me." To be honest, he always put off finding a place to sleep during the night. Playing around all day was way more fun. And sleeping somewhere different every night let him explore more. He approached the shed and looked at it satisfiedly, squeezing through a crack in the wall. "Check it out!" he called from the interior of the shed.

She followed him cautiously through the crack.
It was warmer inside, and quite impressive, better then her box.
She jumped onto a worktable covered in boxes.
Yes this would do fine.
“Thank you so much!” she explained jumping down and hugging him.
He was so sweet.

Remi looked surprised, but accepted her hug. Stood to reason that valiant explorers must get lots of hugs, right? I mean, they rescued a sizable amount of people on a regular basis. "I'm glad I could help." he said happily. He looked around the shed proudly. "You need a housewarming song." he decided, hefting his violin. "Any requests?"

She curled up in a corner watching him.
It was cute, he was so proud of himself.

Remi looked thoughtful. "Hmmm..." Today had been a nice day. He had made a new friend and helped her out, and he had gone on an adventure. He wanted to play something exciting and cheerful. He started to play. "This is By the Banks of the Green River." he explained. "It always makes me think of exploring."

Listening to his song she started to drift off…
“Will I see you again Remi?” she yawned.
Today had been wonderful.
But this collar was beginning to irritate her. It seemed that it kept her connected to her old life, and she couldn’t live the new one.
Her eyes closed and she began to purr.

Remi looked at Valiant. "Probably!" he said. "I seem to run into everyone a lot.", what with all my adventuring." He played until she fell asleep, then tiptoed outside.
It had been a nice adventure.
