Lucretia gave a small evasive giggle as she took the can Kinsey handed her and added it to the cart. Then the fingers of her free hand strayed to her lips and she smiled quickly before . "Oh, he knows magic, but he has not taught me yet," she told the other shoppers as she drifted away from the shelf so she could better see them both at the same time. "I have a talent for it, though, so Daddy thinks I will be very good at it, but I'm not sure he teaches magic often. He knows it very very well, but he said he's never had a student."
"And the magic staff... is not for me," Lucretia went on, realizing this lying thing was harder than she thought. "Or it would not be for me. I think. If Kumoru made it, he would keep it. But... only if."
Her expression faded to a slightly bored-looking deadpan as she was silent for a few seconds, then she gave curious glances to the other two in turn. "Do you know magic?"

Agni was very interested in their new conversation. Even though he was more of a technology kind of person but magical stuff always intrigued him. Perhaps there was someone out there that was able to teach him some spells to make his cleaning faster.
When the conversation went on being the lady not being able to learn magic, he was feeling kind of sad for her. "Have you asked ... Kumoru whether you can get a staff too..." Agni stopped, he was afraid that Lucretia would get uncomfortable with the conversation.
He was glad when the topic changed. "Well, I don't know magic but I really love to learn some. It's always cool to be able to move things without touching or summon the elements and all that stuff." he smiled and continued, though in a much softer voice. "Maybe Kumoru can teach me too sometime?"

Kinsey watched Lucretia float, listening to the Raevan intently as she nodded, chewing on her lip. "Well, if he knows magic well, and you are so inclined, I see no reason why he wouldn't teach you." After all, she was his daughter, so to speak. And Lucretia didn't really sound afraid of him, so he couldn't be all that bad...but who was she to judge, really? "But I'm sure there are other places you could learn, too," Kinsey added, just in case. Good to cover all the bases.
She blinked as Lucretia inquired to hers and Agni's magical knowledge. "I do know magic, but I couldn't cast any to save my life," she chuckled. "Two of my brothers can, but the rest of my family, myself included are not quite so talented. My mother says I'm lucky, and that's sort of like being magic, but I'd beg to differ." Especially with this bad-luck steak she had going on, jeez.
"Being lucky is just like, finding a wad of cash on the street, or something. And boy could I use some luck."
Who didn't like a little luck in their lives?

"Well, a staff would be nice, but I think I would like to keep my hands free if I learn magic," the Raevan replied slowly, giving it some thought. "I will ask him, though," she added. "Would you like me to ask for you, too, Mister Agni?"
Then she turned to Kinsey, looking curious. "You know magic? Do you have a magic staff?" she inquired. "Or a lucky staff? ... What would a lucky staff look like? All made of heads-up pennies, maybe?" Lucretia's brows furrowed, her attention clearly wandering as she pondered this question.

Agni smiled, the topic was getting more and more exciting. It wasn't everyday one get to talk about magic. When he heard that Kinsey knew magic, he turned his attention to her. He felt just slightly jealous since he didn't know any magic at all. "Well, being lucky is good too. Since it's always nice to get a little help from Lady luck once in a while."
Agni turned his head back to Lucretia when he heard the question being asked. "Well, thanks for asking" he smiled before continuing, "I don't mind getting one, it's just whether Kumoru would mind. Don't want to trouble him, especially since we just met and all." he sighed. It would be nice to be able to learn some magic to spice up his life.
A smile can be seen on his face when Agni heard what the Raevan said. He thought about the question too and was laughing rather softly at all the images that popped into his head on the possibility of a lucky staff.

Kinsey's eyes twinkled as the other pair discussed magic. It was quite an interesting topic, she could understand why people were so interested in it, but after years of failed attempts, she lost interest. "Um, I guess I know some, yes. But I haven't tried anything in years." The youth shrugged. "I mean, once we determined my attempts were coming up with a whole lot of nothing, I just stopped trying." It was sad, at the time, but she'd gotten over it.
"Lucky staff? No." Kinsey chuckled softly and shook her head. "I do have a lucky charm though," she added, eyes twinkling. Maybe that was the source of her bad luck. She hadn't seen her charm since she'd moved into her new apartment. "Heh, yeah. That must be why I've been so unlucky lately," she said to herself, shaking her head. "A lot of people say luck is bogus, but don't let them fool you," she said, turning her attention back to the Raevan and the cleaner. "There's a lot of skill involved with being lucky. You've got to be good at it. I guess maybe it's like magic, after all."

After a moment, Lucretia's attention wandered back to Kinsey, and she nodded slowly, just catching the part about skill in luck.
"Right, I will remember that." Had she been lucky? Oh well. Now she could start paying attention, at least. "How does someone get good at it, though? Kumoru gets all of his magic from studying lots and lots and lots of books. There's no such thing as a luck book, though, right?" The Raevan could not completely disregard the possibility, but it sounded kind of silly.
Maybe she should try to find a lucky charm, too. "Where can I get a lucky charm, by the way?" Lucretia went on after a moment. "... You mean something different than the sugary crud my brother eats for breakfast, right?" She had definitely seen those in aisle six.

Agni smiled as he continued listening on the conversation. The lady with half a body (He didn't want to be rude and ask someone what are they) was very interesting in both her speech and thinking. It was as though she was new to this world.
When Kinsey spoke about how it takes skills to be lucky, Agni got a little confused. "Oh? Than would you mind being my teacher and teach me how?" he gave a smile and rubbed the back of his head. "Having more luck will definitely help."
After asking his question, he kept his mouth zipped. It was definitely more interesting to listening to the conversation. Even more so than shopping for the things he need.

She should have expected them to ask, she really should have. Kinsey smiled and shook her head. No harm in explaining it, at any rate. The hard part was putting it into practice. "Yes, a lucky charm the gives luck is not a breakfast cereal." Those were really, really good, though. "Having a lucky charm is really important to having good luck, though," she explained. "Your luck charm must be given to you by someone else, or found by total accident. My charm was given to me by my mother; it really helps if they're homemade, especially by someone gifted with magic."
The youth paused to gather her thoughts. "And it's one of those things that takes time. You gotta try your charm a few times before you can be sure. And once you have a charm, it's all about the ritual." Kinsey had a certain meal, a certain pair of socks and a certain lip balm she used when she wanted to be lucky, on top of having her good luck charm. "And it's kinda something you just gotta notice. Like, what shoes were you wearing the last time you were lucky? And then you have to try it again, in combination with the luck charm. It's a lot of work."
Kinsey paused again, suddenly feeling like she was completely dominating the conversation. "Oh!" One last thing. "It's really important to think and act positively. And keep your karma good, too. Those things can really mess with luck if you aren't careful."
