( Yes. Wet dog. I don't know why. It just came to me in a spark of genius. )

Haldora found herself smiling. Laughing softly, yet again. Of course, it was trying to syke herself up to tell her rather unpleasant tale. She gazed out at the falling water, frowning softly. " I suppose so..."

She told a very quick summary of what exactly happened. Or, to the best of her memory since, well...she was still getting over the shock of it all. Though, every so often Haldora would find herself craving the feeling of crunching bones and bleeding flesh between her jaws. After her tale, she shook her mane out and layed down on the floor, resting her head on her front paws.

"... Your reason, from what I can tell, has more meaning than my reason, Mars. " An ear flicked and stayed focused on the storm outside. No. It wasn't letting up yet. She hoped it would be soon. She swore she was going to go stir crazy before long!

Mars sat down, looking down at her, or rather, over her as he began his tale. The way he spoke, it sounded as if he were in love with humans, and to have killed one so young tore him apart. Because of the wolf, he had betrayed what he stood for.

When his story was over, the storm had gotten worse. "I think we will be spending the night in the cave. It's looking dangerous out there." He pondered a moment laying near her, but made no move as he thought about it.

He just went for it, laying down near her. The warmth of her body against his side. "It seems like the lower caves will probably flood too. It will get colder."

She listened and frowned. How terrible to get into a blood rage like that! But Haldora could relate, a little too well. Her ears fell against her head and then she shook her head.

Hal looked back up when he mentioned the storm, watching him. But a crash outside caught her attention, her gaze pulled to the opening. Yeah. A night in a cave wasn't so bad. At least it was dry...ish. " It does. Not safe for even walking. "

And here she had been thinking about flying in that weather! How silly of her! She'd would have gotten herself killed before her vengeance could be taken.

Warmth brushed against her body, weight as well. She looked over to find Mars beside her. Haldora snorted and rested her head upon her paws again, looking away. " Hrmph... Alright then. You'll get off easy this time. "

"You'll thank me when you don't die from illness." He retorted. It was teasing. A little gruff, but still kind. His demeanor seemed as though he were one who would never loose his temper, as if the story he told her was a lie.

He kept his head up still, watching out the cave as the rain was blowing side ways, in a criss cross manor, illuminated only by the lightning flashes. "dreadful..."

Haldora snorted, pondering for a moment to just roll away to watch this guy fall over. But that wouldn't be nice, and plus, he was right that it was a bit warmer. Instead she countered with her own tease to the kind sounding male, " Aww... I'm touched. Really... " Soft snickering could be heard from her.

Her eyes were on the outside as well. It was howling of the wind and the crosshatching of the rain that made her thankful for the company. The weather looked beyond awful. " Deathly... I do hope no one bent on living is caught in it. "

Mars turned his gaze back to Haldora when she spoke. She seemed to want to be a pain. The snide remarks and jabbing quips. But in a way, it was refreshing. A sort of charm to her. Mars hadn't met many others, let alone others who were so... so...

It was the only word he could think of that would fit her. She wasn't bound to anything. She seemed as though she might just fly off as soon as the storm stopped or the sun rose- which ever came first. She was wearing that hide by choice, sort of. He didn't see why she should cover her beautiful fur. She was who she was. Slowly, Mars put his head down, resting it near her paws as he lay there in the dry cave. Their own body heat was even warming the air a little now, when the wind didn't blow in. He let out a heavy breath, stirring the earth slightly as it curled away in a small wisp of dust.

She was in pain. It was guilt, anger and whatever else that she refused to show, and it ate at her so. Bitterness caused her remarks to come out quickly, unlike his. He seemed more calm, more centered, more under control. More....balanced.

For that reason alone, Haldora admired that male. Course, she wouldn't admit to it. Pride had to take some place in that. Not to mention, hey, it was cold. Warm body...cold air... The female subconsciously curling closer to the warmth, letting her eyes drift close as she tried to sleep. Course the howling wind didn't help. It seemed to rob her warmth just as she got it. A sick, cruel game. At least that fur of hers did some good keeping heat in. Some, not much.

" Mrph....cold..." she muttered, her wings pulling closer to trap as much heat as she could. Blasted weather! Blasted.... ... blasted... dirt? Yes. Dirt!

Mars opened an eye when she said something. Cold huh? Slowly, Mars raised a wing and let it fall over her back. It may not be much, but it was the best he could do for her. He didn't say anything more as he drifted to sleep, wondering if she'd still be there in the morning.

Haldora expected nothing from her slumber mutterings. But she did notice as she did at last drift off to sleep that it got a bit warmer. Always good, always nice...

And morning did come. Or at least, the light of morning danced along the puddles in the front of the cave, reflecting and refracting that light into the depths. Haldora stirred, blearily looking at the light that was dusting the drying ground outside. The female grunted and moved to get up, sliding from beneath Mar's wing to get a drink from one of the puddles...
Only to freeze in her steps and stare back into the darker passages of the cave.

Movement and a squeak had caught her eye. A squeak? What could possibly live in a cave anyways? A mouse? A rat? A snake? Haldora sat in place, curling her fluffy tail around her feet as she observed the darkness. Also, to get a better look at the male she had slept next to during that storm.

As his wing fell to the ground, Mars opened one eye to see Haldora standing there, looking around the cave a moment. He hadn't heard the squeak. "You're an early riser." He said and slowly got up. He was a little stiff from the cold, but that would soon wear off. A good shake! That's what he needed. IT started slowly, then gained momentum. The wolf paws that dangled around his limbs were soon flailing wildly, in some uncoordinated dance. That felt good. Now, what was Haldora looking at? He tried to follow her gaze, but got lost.

"What's so interesting?"

Her ear twitched and then well her attention was turned from whatever it was that was moving around to the male shaking. her head tilted to the side. He looked like a weird blur of red and white. Kiinda...like...No. Not really a bloody corpse, but darn near close to one. Her ears pinned back and she nosed towards the darker part of the cave.

"I rise with the sun. " Haldora said quickly before her attention was back to the dark spot. " Something moved... "
PostPosted: Mon Nov 17, 2008 10:44 pm

When all eight limbs had stilled, Mars watched Haldora sniff into the darkend corner. Moved? "Well, we can't expect to be the only things needing shelter from a storm. And what was to stop some pitiful creature from entering the cave while we slept? But...

Mars was curious too, and ever so slowly, he made his way over near Haldora. Perhaps a second nose could help her sniff out whatever it was.

"I suppose not. " she muttered, more curious than anything else. The shock of the new male was done and over with. After all, she could sort of trust him .Maybe. If he didn't get too close to her, thats all.

Course, that was until he moved closer. She pulled her wings closer and decided it was probably best to go and explore. Two sets of eyes, ears, and noses were better than one. Her tongue lulled out in a doglike grin before she stalked forward...recklessly mind you towards the sound and the movement. " I wonder if it's dead! " Her enthusiasm was tactless, but at least she wasn't moping or worring too much about Mar's presence.

From the darkness there was a high pitched squeak, and the fluttering of leather. Or, so it sounded like. There was also some crashes into small pools of water...At least, it sounded like rocks into water. Haldora was beyond curious by now, she was sticking her nose around, dancing on her hind legs to get a better look and sniff, and darting around where she heard the sound.

"Dead things don't usually move." Mars said, following. He winced when he heard the high pitch squeal. "That's going to drive me batty." Mars shook his head and hopped forward, to the left of Haldora. "Does it sound like it's injured?" He didn't like the idea of something being injured. And since the cave seemed to have let in rain from somewhere above, it being hurt, and in the dampness of the cave troubled him more. He sniffed the air. His nose then going down, then back to the air. There was a flash in his eyes, and then a low rumble in his throat. Oh yes, what ever it was was totally defenseless.

"How delicious." his voice was dark, and he stalked forward. "Try and fly little one. The chase is half the fun..." Mars didn't feel right as he walked towards the sound. Something made him move forward as if he were hunting. Back. Back into the darkness.

" I hope it isn't. Poor thing. Maybe its caught on something. " Her ears tilted forward and she sniffed around where she last heard the squeaking. So close! More fluttering and the angeli trotted towards an outcrop of stalagmites. She knew mars was back there, somewhere. Yet, the comfort of her companion, or discomfort wasn't noticed. Nor was it noticed the change in his demeanor, nor the growl that should have warned her. So caught up in her quest to find this high pitched squeak, Hal didn't notice the growl, until she accidentally stumbled across a small bat with a lovely crescent across its chest. Her head tilted to the side and she poked at it with her nose.

The little thing squeaked and tried to flutter away, its claw stuck between a rock and another rock What a poor thing, thought the female. That was, until she realized that Mars was stalking closer. Stalking was the key word. Immediately she bared her teeth, not sure if it was she he was referring to or the poor bat. " Mars... don't touch it. "
