Uzuri found herself face to face with the older dog.
"Janja? That's a pretty name." Uzuri smiled warmly, something she had not found herself doing in quite some time. Far too long.
"My name's Uzuri. Too bad I don't quite live up to my name, though..." she sighed. She knew she was average, at best. There was nothing special about her. At least, that's what they always said.
She only remembered her past in short sequences, but it had been burned deeply within her. Maybe in time, she could learn to trust Janja enough to tell her about that. She would like that, oh so very much.

Uzuri... Beautiful... It was a fitting name, Janja thought. "Don't live up to your name? I think you do. Quite nicely," Janja told the pup. She felt herself wanting rip the throats out of the ones who would emotionally scar this pup. They made her angry...
But she calmed herself with a small puff of breath; a simple exhale. She gave a smile to the pup before her and lowered herself into a laying position. It was a good day to bask. Even if she didn't eat her fill.

Uzuri heard the gentle words of Janja. Maybe she was right? She sighed, discontent with herself. For now, she had a companion, so she was happy.
Rolling over, Uzuri's full belly faced the sun; as much as she despised it, it gave her warmth and comfort. She layed by Janja's side, admiring her as if she was an older sibling. She'd always wanted that.
Now that she wasn't on the brink of death, Uzuri looked up at the clear blue sky with little worries. For now.
