I forget how long ago I started, at least a year or two maybe. but overall, Smash Bros is Smash Bros, it just gets more added to it for my taste.
Wavedashing is a pain in the a** for those who demand a more fair fight. no wave dashing, just a straight up BRAWL.
dodging most of the fight is rather cowardly.
So that's why you like a game that give you infinite air dodges?
Wavedashing isn't only for dodging attacks. In fact it's rarely used purely to dodge. It's used for mindgames and to space your attacks better for combos.
Say you're Fox and you run at a Marth with 80% damage. You get close, then you wavedash backwards right as Marth Fsmashes, so that you can wavedash back in with an upsmash to potentially KO him unless he's got good DI.
This could be taken a step further by running in and then wavedashing back and forth without doing anything. The opponent doesn't know if you're going to attempt to attack or dodge, so they don't really know if they should attack you or evade you.
Some combos that rely on wavedashing would be like Fox's waveshine to upsmash or multiple shines with Falco on fast fallers at low percents.
Really, I could defend Melee all day. Anything else? :O
