She couldn't help but make a face at what he said, it wasn't entirely what she was expecting to hear. She supposed it said a good deal about his relationship with his mother, he still cared even if he was frustrated with some of her behavior. It was a much more complex relationship than she had thought something like that could be. She didn't feel like she had missed out on much, though.

At least he was smiling again, which got Lilo to smile again. She shook her head, "Aren't most of the traditionalists related? I thought that was part of the problem now. I suppose you're one of the less related ones.."

She was caught off guard by his question, and it showed.

"No!" she said, then realized her quick and usual reaction to a fairly standard question, "Well, I mean.. I'm barely social enough to have friends, that has hardly crossed my mind." Clearly it was an unexpectedly awkward topic. She continued, on the topic of her own social behavior momentarily as if continuing to defend herself, "I've been hunting, though. That lioness- the slave- we saw last time we met up. She's a huntress now too, I've seen her. We haven't spoken though."

He snorted, "I only have my mother, sister, and father in the lands that I am related too. It seems that all the royalty are getting pretty closely bred into the rest of the population...I imagine cousin will be mating with cousin." that make him chuckle, he knew none of them would have that...but it was a possibility.

He looked pleased to hear that she hadn't found a mate and his silly little grin kept it's place across his face. "You know...since you don't have a mate...and I don't...perhaps..." The heat was blazing in his face before he could finish.

"No...n-n-never mind it wouldn't work being so far apart."

Lilo cringed at the comment about how inbred the royal lineage was becoming, making sure to note it as another pro to having stayed where that would be less likely to happen to her. Firekin did not have the same inbreeding taboos as some might, but she wasn't so fond of her family that she would want to make the connection deeper. And she had something- or someone- else in mind..

Which Wakia verbalized quite completely. And as disappointing as it was to hear it said, distance issue included, Lilo couldn't help but grin.

"How disappointing," she commented lightly, sounding almost as if she was taking it like a joke- and she was trying, if only to make it easier.

"Yes disappointing," he sighed and rolled his eyes trying to keep her light attitude towards his comments. He didn't quite...well love Umlilo but she was his favorite person. Oh how would other fireblooded males look at him for his silly crush? They would be assertive and tell their females what they wanted. He couldn't do that, no matter what stories he heard of brave and courageous warriors with complete harems of women, he could not do something so frivolously...or bravely.

"I should probably go back, it's a matter of time before someone comes along and sees you with the enemy," he frowned, "I wouldn't want my best friend to be harmed because of me." His large black frame slumped forward at the thought of heading home. But talking of distance made him realize the social distances between the groups.

He wasn't necessarily supposed to agree, but she didn't react to it. Had she known the things going through his mind she might have told him a thing or two about what she thought. She wasn't the most well-adjusted or dedicated of lionesses, but she was independent. Independent enough that she wouldn't have agreed with thoughts connecting her and a harem. The conversation took a truly disappointing turn very suddenly when Wakia realized something she hadn't thought of. Despite everything, she'd been so excited to see him that she'd forgotten that there was a danger of being caught together. She looked around, there was no one around but it might not last. He was right.

"You're right," she agreed, and slowly got to her feet- shaking the sand off of her, "Are you tough and daring enough to keep dropping by or is this the last time I'll be seeing you?" It was almost a dare, a reminder of what sensitive information he had revealed earlier in the conversation but also an indication of her desire to see him again- though it sounded very non-committal. Just like she always used to sound.

He puffed up his chest and stood balanced for a moment on two legs looking tall and proud. "I am brave, daring, and charming!" He winked and in that moment lost his balance and tumbled into the sand. Grinning foolishly he straightened himself out watching her.

"I'll see you again soon, I've missed talking to you." and perhaps I can finish the story we started so very long ago.

He thrust a paw forward and started to head in the direction he came from she was the most amazing female, and the only one not related to him he'd ever spoken too. Besides the little lioness who she'd mentioned, she didn't seem all that important at that very moment though.

She watched Wakia puff up- and inevitably tumble to the ground after his efforts to show off. With a chuckle, she watched him get back to his feet with a shake of her head. He was almost a ridiculous lion, but she found it very endearing- and as he said.. charming.

Maybe she just needed to make more friends, she thought as she watched him go. But she waited until she couldn't see him anymore, and with a smile she turned to walk back home. She couldn't remember what she was doing before running into Wakia, but it didn't matter anymore.
