Lyrics don't detract from me enjoying something if they are terrible. If they are good and the vocal melodies are catchy enough to where I'll sing it aloud, however, then it's an added plus in the enjoyment factor.

The more twisted the lyrics, the better. One of the main reasons I got into sludge. Also, one of my favorite songs lyrics-wise is A Little Piece of Heaven by Avenged Sevenfold... blaugh Look up the lyrics if you want.

Anything the media puts out is usually very bad and a disgrace to the genre.
