1/15/05 - Hitomi Makes New Friends

Teralinth dKalin/Quantel
Rynn/Aria

Sarabi/Hitomi ( Sarabi Adruenna )
azuredreams/Kojak

A strange sight indeed entered the Feien shop at this time. First a pair of matched Pixadogs, huskies both, who appeared to be wearing a set of tiny harnesses complete with traces, stepped over the threshold of the doorway, pulling their burden as they came. Following them, bound to them by the long cords that connected to each corner, was what appeared to be a pallet created from a dark blue potholder. Riding atop the pallet, or hovering slightly now as the pallet bounced over the threshold, was a strange bloom, long spikes curving around its delicate white and red interior.

Overseeing this all, and the source of the Levitation spell the was currently keeping the bloom from being jostled, was Quantel, a few inches in the air and directing the dogs with a gesture to the interior of the shop. "Carefully, carefully! If a single bit of harm comes to this bloom, I shall have both your hides!" Her eyes narrowed dangerously and her wings unfurled.

Needless to say, the dogs were careful as they finally made it past the door.

Aria flew into the shop soon afterwards, having left Ianios at home with Rynn. She was a bit bored and felt like getting out. Having landed on the counter, her eyes scanned the shop, hunting for a familiar face.

There...down on the floor....there was the prettiest bloom she'd ever laid eyes on. Spiky, but with red and blue...oh..she had to go down and see it. Landing, she started when she saw the feien with the bloom. It was her near twin!

"Hi!" she called out cheerfully. "I'm Aria! We look almost alike. Weird, huh?"

Hitomi was sitting on a table with large bowls of orange and red paint, although it seemed more paint was on her face and hands then in the bowls. She was finger painting a picture of the bright orange feien she met last night. Upon seeing the PixaHuskies come in her long ears perked and she leaned forward to get a better look. Upon seeing the spiky frightening blossom she grimaced as she looked up to the wide blue wings of Quantel. Maybe she wouldn't be noticed, she quickly went back to her finger painting.

Once they were on the relatively level surface of the shop's floor, Quantel allowed the bloom to settle back onto its pallet. She landed beside it, one hand reaching out almost affectionately to smooth over the side of its thorns. "There now, darling... Those nasty dogs did not bother you any, did they?" she cooed.

Linth and Kalin exchanged looks with one another, then turned their heads in the direction of the newcomer. Both lifted their lips in slight warning, the tiniest exposure of their teeth flashing.

Quantel, at the sound of Aria's voice, brought her wings in close to her body. She had hoped that this trip to the shop, for the sole purpose of obtaining goods for the bloom, would go without the appearances of any other Feien. Unfortunately, it was not to be. The sunshine in Aria's voice grated her nerves, but she restrained herself to a cool nod. "Aii, we would appear to be similar." Disgustingly enough.

Through this, her hand never left the bloom.

Aria nodded, smiling brightly. "New housemate? That one is awful pretty. Has it a name yet?" She asked, looking over the bloom. She noticed how Q's hand was petting the bloom. "Or is he or she your child?"

Though she hadn't heard of any other feien breeding lately, it very well could be. The bloom did share in Q's coloring.

She glanced at the dogs, a little unnerved by them showing teeth. She wasn't use to anything doing that. Her own pixas seemed to be very friendly. Only time anything bared teeth were the dragons, but they usually did it only in play. She wondered why they chose to bare teeth at her. She wasn't a threat.

"PixaPups!" Hitomi hopped to her feet and fluttered down closer to the shop's entrance. She saw the older, adult feien and suddenly felt very young. "Um..Hello. My name is Hitomi." She looked down at the little harnessed dogs and smiled before they growled and she frowned a bit. Her eyes moved up to Quantel, she was a good 3 inches taller than herself. "Umm..are these your dogs? They seem kinda angry..."

Blinking her eyes slowly, in an almost reptilian manner, Quantel looked Aria over. The taller Feien's dissettlement with the huskies was apparent, and mildly amusing. This fact along kept Quantel's demeanor pleasant, or as pleasant as she was wont to be with a Feien she despised. "It is not a valid practice to name a creature prior to its birth." As she turned her head in the direction of the items case, the motion caused a tumble of her hair to fall over her shoulder, partially obscuring her features. "Some cultures consider it to be inviting evil spirits to feast upon the innocent, defenseless being."

She chose to ignore the idiotic question as to the bloom's parentage; after all, where it came from mattered not, for it was now Quantel's. An almost unseen motion of her left hand caused the huskies to relax their stance, sitting simultaneously. However, now there was the manner of an impressionable young Feien to attend to. She turned back to the others, smiling softly at Hitomi. "You need not worry. They will only attack if they feel I am threatened."

Aria relaxed then. She hadn't know it was bad luck to be named before one was born. She'd keep that in mind. And at least her Pixas weren't a threat anymore. She smiled at the colorful feien.

"I'm Aria. Nice to meet you," she said, her eyes a little wary though. She had always thought the best about the other feien until they proved her wrong. Like Arturo. He was downright cold to her. What Ares saw...well, he managed to turn her the same way. She was secretly glad she hadn't had the pleasure of running into either since.

She didn't quite know what to make of Quantel though. So far the other adult hadn't offered her name. Well, neither had the younger feien. But that was alright. "Here to show the bloom around?" she asked.

Hitomi smiled at the dogs. She held out a hand for them to sniff and cautiously stepped closer. Hoping they didn't suddenly lash out at her she knelt down in front of them while looking up at Quantel, "Do they have names? They are awfully cute. I have a PixaMouse at my house. Her name is Eurydice. She's an air mouse. And she's blue...kinda like your hair, but lighter. And she has clouds." Hitomi reached out to stroke the soft for on the top of the nearest dog's head.

The nearest dog, Kalin, laid his ears back as Hitomi reached for him, his muzzle beginning to wrinkle once more. When Quantel saw this, though inwardly pleased at his reaction, she outwardly frowned and snapped her fingers quickly. "En qui ka'Hanel, Kalin!" Almost instantly the dog relaxed, and Quantel smiled. "The one there is Kalin, and his companion is Linth."

Rather than turning her attention back to Aria, Quantel leaned down to begin unfastening the ties that bound the pallet itself to the cords the dogs wore. "Actually, my intentions are to obtain some goods for the bloom in my care. A tour can wait until after it has emerged." Her nimble fingers made quick work of the knots.

That made sense, Aria realized. She had brought Ian around when he was a bloom, rather a leaf really, just to show him off. Quantel was making a better parent than she. At least it seemed to Aria.

"Makes sense." Aria nodded, feeling a little stupid. She didn't like feeling stupid. Maybe it'd be better if she kept her mouth shut. The younger feien was doing better than she.

Hitomi's hand jerked back quickly and she frowned. "I guess she smells Eurydice and doesn't like mice. Or maybe it's the paint. Sorry." She stood up quickly and looked around herself. She felt thoroughly embarrassed. Her face flushed and she turned to look at the other blue one. "Hello. My name is Hitomi."

Aria nodded. "Nice to meet you," she said softly. Yes, better to keep her mouth shut. She didn't have many friends, no sense in chasing these two off if they found her to be dumb.

As she did not feel a response was needed from her as of yet, Quantel turned her full attention to the bloom. Though confident that she would succeed in this endeavour, she still felt a slight twinge of nerves. Shaking that away, her eyes focused on the bloom, and she began the spell.

Slowly, both the bloom and the pallet lifted off the ground together, rising into the air an inch, and then two. Still they rose, higher and higher, Quantel tilting her head back so as not to break eye contact with them, every inch of her being focused on the effort. Kalin and Linth followed both as well, apprehensively, as they knew that should anything unfortunate occur, they would be the ones to suffer Quantel's wrath.

When the pair of objects crested the top of the counter, Quantel nudged them over slightly, then allowed them to land. She exhaled softly, and at length, releasing the breath she had held and the spell she had used at the same time.

Aria blinked. Wow...this new near twin was powerful. Her own magic seemed weak and...and...what was a good word for it? Boring. Yes, boring was the word. All she knew was water magic. Fat lotta good it was though. She couldn't show off even if she wanted too.

She followed Quantel to the countertop, being sure to land away from the bloom. She didn't want to fall on those spikes. They looked sharp. "So what are you planning on getting?" she asked softly, still admiring the bloom.

She wondered if Hitomi would be following.

Hitomi watched in amazement as Quantel levitated the bloom and palatte up to the table. This was the first time she has actually watched magic being performed. She has been away from the Feien world for quite some time and hadn't yet been able to really meet anyone. Being alone on the moon with no one but your mother and a bunch of aliens can take it's toll. "That was pretty cool. I don't know much magic. But I'm learning how to meld two objects together. I've been practicing! She quickly seizes two large threads from the floor and scrunches her face as she forces the two ends together into one long thread. "See!"

Quantel flew to the countertop, not looking at Aria as she went. When she landed, it was much closer to the bloom than Aria had chosen, her hand already moving out to touch it softly.

"I have not yet decided what I shall obtain." Though she examined the objects in question, she kept track of Aria from the corner of one eye. "So much to choose from..." Truth be told, she was slightly tired now from the use of the spell, but she felt that the reactions it had earned were well worth it.

Aria smiled at Hitomi. Another useful power, she noticed. Her being able to breathe underwear and such, what good were they? She was really starting to doubt herself. She had felt the same long ago, back when she was around Hitomi's age. Worthless. Couldn't stand out for anything, no matter how hard she tried.

She blinked to get herself from her thoughts. They'd not do her much good now. "Yes, there's a lot to choose from. Maybe the basics? Like a chest for one, and utensils for eating, later after the feien emerges." She was trying to be helpful.

Hitomi has been absorbed in her demonstration that she hadn't noticed the other two fly off. She winced a bit as she flexed her wings and fluttered up to the table. She was neither fast enough, nor did she have the stamina to fly very quickly so she flew more like a butterfly: Short sperattic bursts of energy. She still held the thread in her left hand and she didn't want to lose it. It was one of the first times that a spell had worked so she quickly wrapped it around her wrist and melded the two ends together. "What kind of flower is that? It um...a little scary."

Aria watched as Quantel suddenly had to go. "It was a feien bloom. We all started out as such, more or less," she explained, her voice soft. She still hadn't learnt her near twin's name. Perhaps she had wanted it that way.

"My housemate, Ianios, he started out as a leaf." She hadn't seen any others in their flower stage, so she assumed Ian had been an exception. "You had a flower stage as well."

Hitomi quirked an eyebrow. "Mamma has a diary on it's all pink like me, and on the front is a picture of a pink and blue and yellow flower. Could that have been me?" This information was all a bit much to think of at once so she easily left bits out to remember. "Everyone did? Or just Feien?" Hitomi wasn't exactly the slickest thing since Vaseline.

Aria smiled gently. "Just feien. Everyone is born differently. And I'm pretty sure that was your bloom, judging by your coloring. Mine was a solid blue, with a little white. Ian was a green leaf, maple I think Rynn said he looked like."

She liked this newcomer. Reminded her a lot of Ianios. Curious as a kitten. Just now she felt out of place. Her near twin had made her feel like she was stupid, worthless.

Hitomi scrunched her forehead. She loved to learn new things, but usually in much smaller bites. "But then...where does everyone else come from? Different plants? I'm confused." She looks down at her wrist and fiddles with the mottled thread now wrapped around her wrist.

Aria giggled. "No. Some people are born from other people. Some hatch from eggs. Or something like that. Not too sure where everyone comes from. Not everyone comes from a plant. I got a housemate, she was born from a candle."

She looked at Hitomi, smiling gently. "Not meaning to confuse you though." She glanced at the thread. "Nice power you have there. Beats mine."

Thankful for a change of subject Hitomi smiles. "It's not very useful right now. I've only managed to meld very very small things together, like this thread. And a few small rocks on the moon." She then flicks at the paint that has begun drying on her arms. "I can hold my breath for a long time too. That helped when I was trying to fix things on the outside of the space ship that me and Mamma were on. Cause most people die in space because they can't hold their breath long enough."

"You were on the moon?" Aria blinked. She never dreamed anyone could go on the moon! "Was it pretty? It's always pretty when I see it here."

Aria liked sitting out on full moon nights, watching it. She said once there was a man on the moon, cause there looked to be a face there. Ian thought she was joking, until he saw it too. Rynn explained what it really was, but she liked watching the moon too, felt like she was at home, just watching. Like she belonged there.

"You can hold your breath? I can breath water like the fish Rynn has. It's not much of a power or anything though."

"My Mamma and Aunty Whitey went to the moon to save an orphanage that was being taken over by bad guys. They saved it and now they work to find good homes for all the kids that are there. Aunt Whitey stays there most of the time to deal with business on that end." She makes little quotey fingers around 'deal with business'. "She pretty much just watches computers and draws while Mamma runs her butt off down here trying to find them all good homes." She fiddles with the wrist wrap a bit more. "But Aunty Whitey comes and visits and she is very nice. She and Mamma might even be having a baby soon."

A baby? Aria hadn't seen a baby before. "We have an orphan at home too, Malthius. He's pretty nice, quiet though." She sat down, a bit bored now. "So...what do you do in your spare time?"

"We have an orphan too. She snuck home with us. Her name is Shenandoah. And she is a Star Child. And she is very smart. And she is very pretty. I like to fix things. And paint things. And sculpt things. Mamma has a big box at home full of art stuff. And she bought me some paint and some erasers that I can sculpt." Hitomi has the awful habit of speaking very fast and jumping around subjects. It's a talent to be able to follow her longer sentences. "What about you?"

Aria giggled, actually able to keep up with her. "I like to go swimming, can't now though. Unless it's in the tub. Too cold. I play with all the pets we have, games, watch anime...Rynn has a huge collection of dvds. Ian and I, we do treasure hunts, explore..." She trailed off, trying to think.

"Sometimes I just snuggle to Ian. We relax that way, tickle each other. Have a good time. I like art too, I just don't paint all that much. Never tried to sculpt anything. Is that fun?"

"I've never been swimming. Not much water on the moon. I don't have anyone to really snuggle with. Everyone is so much bigger than I am! It would be nice though. Shenandoah is probably my closest friend right now, but she's a lot bigger than me to." She flicks some more at her painty arms before looking back at her again, "And sculpting is a LOT of fun. And it's a lot of fun to mess up cause then you can just squish it all back together and start all over again. It's hard to do that with paint. Do you have any pets? I have a pixa mouse named Eurydice. She's an air mouse. She's blue and has clouds."

Aria nodded. "We have a ton of pets. Pixa dogs, cats, and mice. And we got little dragons for Christmas. And there is firebirds, and a griffon Nigel got me, he was my guy, but he moved away I think. I got a water kitty and Ian's got a earth doggy. Hehe, they match us."

Maybe she could talk Rynn into getting her some clay or something to make into things. That'd be neat. "Ian's a feien like I am. He's green marked, and a plant element. He can make plants grow fast! I'm water. What are you?" Her coloring didn't give hers away. Well, a lot of feien, you couldn't guess on their coloring either.

Hitomi's eyebrows rose in shock, "That's a LOT! Mamma can't fit that many in the apartment. We live in the city when we aren't on a shuttle. Mamma keeps an herb garden. They always die though. A person like Ian would be helpful. I'm air, which is weird since I can't really fly all that well. That's why I can hold my breath though."

"... so, you're saying you want to go on in by yourself while I go get those things?" Wren raised an eyebrow, head tilting to the side to look at Kojak who was sitting upon his shoulder. He stretched out and smiled easily before standing up.

"I can take care of myself," Kojak replied before lifting himself up into the air and looking around Wren's head for the darkly glowing blue gem there. He gave it a wave before looking back at Wren and going back to stand on his shoulder. "You won't be long, so it won't hurt to be by myself."

"I guess." Wren sighed, shaking his head. "All right, fine. I'll take you on inside. Can't see why you can't wait for another day ..."

"You're clingy, you know that?" Kojak tilted his head to one side, smiling still as if trying to charm Wren out of glaring at him.

"The obvious wins again," he muttered, opening up the shop door so that they could go inside. Both of them were all most immediately listening to hear if anybody else was inside.

Air was a interesting element. But one that couldn't fly well? That was odd. "I see." That was very odd. "We got a cottage. Rynn likes having a lot of pets and others around. She use to get lonely and since we all came alone, she's happy."

"Well it's good that she's happy. It would be bad if she was still sad all the time living with you guys." Hitomi's long bouncey ears perk up upon hearing the door open. She notices that it is a bondmate and his Feien. And on top of it, a boy feien, her own age! She starts tucking stray hairs back into place and flecking the rest of the pant off herself before he could get a good enough look at her.

Aria looked over, smiling. Another interesting looking feien! "Hey!" she said, waving him over. "Come join us!"

"Over there." Kojak pointed and then waved at the sound of one of the feiens waved at them both. Wren wrinkled his nose up, but complied. It wasn't like it would make him go out of his way.

"Be -"

"Behave myself?" The feien interrupted, smiling still and Wren just shook his head as he walked over to where the other two feien were settled. "I will, trust me." His attention wasn't even on Wren, more like those other two and looking closely at that.

"Somehow, I know you will." The words were murmured quietly and before Wren even reached the other two, Kojak was all ready on his way over to greet them. "Eh. I'll be back in a bit, all right?" he repeated, feeling a bit wary and worried.

"I'll be fine." Kojak twisted, smiling widely at Wren, and waving at him to go out. The man sighed once more before turning to go. It gave Kojak plenty of time to land and smile at the two ladies before him. "Hello," he said pleasantly, smiling all the way.

Hitomi smiles widely at the new boy. "Hello! My name is Hitomi. He reminds me a lot of my Mamma. It took a long time for me to convince her I could find my way home this time. I got a little lost last night. Thankfully Shenandoah was awake and was able to help me find my way home." She's babbling more so then usual and she blushes.

Aria smiled. "Hi, I'm Aria!" She patted the space beside her. "Have a seat!"

She looked over at the new feien, taking in his coloring and markings. "Wow, you're an interesting looking feien! I like your coloring! And you got a tail? How cool!"

At least she had lost her feelings of feeling stupid.

Kojak blinked a bit. Hitomi's words were kind of like a whirlwind, but he got what she meant. He chuckled, ducking his head down a bit and then grinned. "Wren's clingy," obviously meaning the man that left, "but he's just worried since I just recently ... bloomed."

"My name's Kojak, and it's a pleasure to meet the both of you. Hitomi, Aria." He smiled and then took the seat that Aria offered, tail swishing from side to side and then settling as he did. "Thanks," he replied to Aria. If he had been a different sort, he might have felt the urge to blush under the compliments, but he didn't. "I like your colorings too, Aria, and your hair Hitomi."

It was interesting to see different feiens beside Valsharess.

Aria blushed. She was the type to blush at anything. "I know what you mean. Rynn was the same. She liked having me around. Barely could go anywhere for a while."

Aria was one of the first creatures Rynn had adopted. She had been lonely, so she didn't like Aria being out of her sight.

There were so new feien nowadays. It was cool.

Hitomi smiled and went a sat down next to Kojak. You're hair is very cool too. I like it! Me and Aria were talking about the kinds of things we like to do in our spare time. What about you? What have you been doing in your recently acquired spare time?"

"Wren's protective, I think." Paranoid was another way to put it, but Kojak hadn't quite reached the point to think about it that way. His tail swished a little as he watched the other two. Both of them blushing! "I got to come here because he's not that far down the street."

"Thanks," he smiled at Hitomi, turning his head to look at her. "Well, I ... haven't really had a chance yet to enjoy it. Learn about what's around me for now, I guess." Since he had only recently come out of his shell -- literally.

"You and Mr. Wren could come by my apartment sometime if you like! Me and Mamma live in the city. It's weird how a city can be so big but living spaces can be so small and cramped. But we make do. I like to paint and fix things! You should try painting, I bet you'd be good at it. Or anything else you choose to do I guess." Hitomi fiddles with her hands. She's in an odd state, she's feeling a bit shy and she doesn't know why. It's un-like herself to feel this way. But this is the first young boy Feien she's met so far.

"We live out in the woods....it's nice and quiet. Very fun to be there." Aria covered her mouth as she yawned. She glanced to the clock. Boy, it was getting late. "I'm sorry, I'm going to go home now. Getting tired. Nice to have meet you, Hitomi, Kojak."

She got up, stretching her wings. She waved, then launched herself out the door.

"Nice to have met you, Aria." Kojak waved to her as she left, turning his attention back to Hitomi and smiling again. "Wren lives in a big house with his wife and children. It's kind of quiet." And Kojak lived there now of course and Wren was very good about taking care of him so far.

"Maybe we can come visit sometime." He grinned a bit, watching Hitomi. She was fidgeting so much. Kind of like Wren, really, how he was nervous -- it was the first thing he noticed. What could it be that was making her fidget? Wasn't him, was it? "I can all ways try that. Painting? It sounds like it'd be fun."

Hitomi waves to Aria as she flies out. "Come by and visit sometime!" She glances around the rest of the shop before realizing that she was now alone with Kojak. Her stomach does flip-flops and she tries to shake it off.

She bites her lip nervously as she looks to Kojak, "I made a finger painting earlier of a pretty orange Feien I met last night." Hitomi reaches across the table and pulls it closer. It's not Michelangelo but it is at least recognizable as a picture of Reneeka.

Michelangelo? That was unfamiliar. Kojak made a note to ask Wren later about it and he leaned over to look at the picture that Hitomi made and then glance up at her. "It looks good. I don't know who's in the picture." He looked thoughtful, as if he could figure out who it was by just looking.

He glanced over at Hitomi again, curiously all most, because of the way she was acting. He just smiled again though and turned his attention back to the painting. "Whoever it is, they're bright."

"Her name is Reneeka, I met her last night. She's very bright. And she likes music. Any kind of music. I don't get music most of the time. It's a bunch of loud noise and it hurts my head after a while. So she must be pretty talented. Mamma likes to sing, and that's nice." She picks at the paint still under her fingernails and smiles widely to Wren hoping not to make it so awkward for herself.

"Reneeka?" he asked, before letting her continue on. He watched her pick at the paint before smiling a little. "Wren would play music while I was still a nut. Some of it was really good and Wren would sing too." She seemed nervous, but that was fine. It didn't bother him. "Have you thought about listening to different kinds of music to see if they won't hurt your head?"

Hitomi shrugged, "I only try and listen to what Mamma has. But after a while I turn it off and tell her to sing instead. One time the radio broke and she wanted me to fix it. So I did but I made it so that it couldn't pick up certain channels that hurt my head. I don't think she ever caught on. She says I'm sneaky." She shrugs as she puts Reneeka's finger painting back where it was on the table.

"Singing's better, I think. It sounds real." Kojak smiled, fingers absently starting to tug on his tail before stopping and letting it swish on it's own. "... that is sneaky to do that. Crafty, too. You're good with your hands, aren't you?" he asked, suddenly. She painted and fixed things. She had to be.

Hitomi nods, "I can only fix small things though, like radio and circuitry on spaceships. I can get in all the little nooks and crannies cause I'm so small. I can't fix things like cars or repair whole space engines. I can hold my breath for a really long time though so my mom used to ask me to fix things on the outside of the ship. It was fun. And I made a hidden place in the cargo hold so my friend Shenandoah could come home with us without Mamma finding out. And it worked! She lives with us know in the apartment." Her eyes drift from his beautiful smile do his swishing tail and back again. She looks at her own hind quarters before saying, "You have a tail."

Those words were like a whirlwind again, but Kojak still seemed to catch it all and nod a little. "Sounds really interesting. I've been seeing what I can do and everything. Don't know if I'll be as good with my hands as you sound like you are." He gave a small glance to her painting and smiled at her.

When she mentioned his tail, he actually laughed and looked towards it. He swished it a bit, the tail actually looking to be the same texture as his hair. "I do. Wren was kind of stunned I did. One of his kids has a tail too, he says their useful to have." Of course, none of the other feiens he met so far had a tail -- so it seemed unique to him.

Hitomi pictured having a tail protruding from her hind end and she quirked an eyebrow, "It must get in the way sometimes. What happens if you sit on it?" She looked generally concerned, "And what if you were sleeping and rolled over on it?" She began to get a bit worried, "But I suppose you'd get used to it if you had one all the time."

Her face stretched as she involuntarily yawned. "I'm feeling very tired. And I'll take me a while to find my way home. I want to make sure I don't get lost this time so Mamma will trust me to go out again." She peers out a nearby window into the sky. "Shenandoah is out so she might be able to help. She helped last time. I really liked talking to you tonight Kojak. I hope you can convince Wren to come by and visit us sometime." There was an odd amount of stress on the word 'really'. She dipped her red quill, always stuck behind her ear, into a bowl of orange paint and scribbled her address on a spare sheet of paper she had been planning to paint on. She hands it to Kojak, "It would be a lot of fun to show you around sometime. It's always good to see sights outside of your own house. At least that's what Shen says." She blows Kojak a kiss and blushes before slowly fluttering out of the shop.

"Not so far it hasn't," Kojak replied, thinking about it and then nodding in agreement with himself. "It's just an extension of my body. I think tails help you with balance, Wren mentioned it to me." Though, for a moment, he looked stumped at what he did with his tail while he slept since he hadn't really slept that many times. He'd have to pay attention to it. "... I'm use to it, since it doesn't bother me or hinder me."

When Hitomi yawned and stretched he raised an eyebrow. She was sleepy, but it was late so that was natural. Wren had said so before they had gone out. It was part of the reason why he was wary leaving Kojak alone. "Be careful, Hitomi." He took the piece of paper, folding it up so that he keep a good grip on it. His head tilted to the side, eyes narrowing to study her briefly, before simply smiling at him. "It was pleasant talking to you," he said genuinely, "and maybe I will come to visit sometime, to see the sights. If Wren'll let me." He laughed and, if possible, his grin actually got a little wider at the blush and the kiss he was blown. She was nice, kind of like a little whirlwind. With words at least.

"Bye!" He waved, winking in return, and then once she was gone set about looking around the shop until Wren returned to pick him up.

Not that it was much longer. The man really could be paranoid.

1/16/05 - More New Faces.

Maquinar ( Teralinth dKalin )
Reneeka ( TormentedAngie )
Aria ( Rynn )
Hitomi ( Sarabi Adruenna )
Kojak ( azuredreams )
Emperial/Luun ( RikProwley )
Ianios ( Rynn )

The red and tan hunk of flesh that was Maq flew in through the window, heading straight for the item case. A small roll of paper was clenched in one hand, his eyes narrowed with a purpose. If he had to be here, after all, running errands for Q, he'd damn well make it quick.

Unrolling the now crumpled paper, Maq peered at the neatly formed words written on it. A frown creased his brow, and he glanced back up at the items in the case. "What the ******** does a bloom need a rapier for?" he muttered under his breath.

Flitting in through the door, Rene alighted on a table, not bothering to take a look around. Searching the tabletop, she looked for the address that had been written down for her a couple of nights ago. She'd remembered most of it, but not all, and was here for the rest of it, so she could tell her bond, so they'd have it for whenever.

"Oh come on. Where'd it go..." So intent was she on finding the tiny handwriting, that she didn't notice the other fairy also in the shop.

Just as Maq was beginning to roll the paper back up, his attention was caught by the flash of color that had suddenly entered the shop. Turning in that direction, he blinked. Orange? Was that possibly Neruo over there? The items in the case momentarily forgotten, Maq lifted off from there to head over in the newcomer's direction.

It was only when he was almost upon her that he realized that no, it wasn't Neruo. It was actually a female Feien. A rather attractive one at that, for a juvi. A broad grin lit his face as he landed. "Well, hello there. You look like you've lost something." One hand landed idly on his hip as he spoke. "Need some help?"

Suddenly startled by the appearance of a voice, as well as a body that accompanied the voice, Rene nearly fell over. You'd think she'd get used to such appearances, as that's all she'd encountered so far. "I uhh... Well, to be perfectly honest, yes. I have lost something. Somewhere on this table, if I remember correctly, is a bright pink feien's address. Hitomi, I believe her name was." She pondered a moment, then nodded. "Yes. Hitomi was her name. I remembered most of the address, but forgot the last little bit, and came back to retrieve it so my friend could write it down. However... I cant seem to find it now."

Rene wasn't above having someone help, and she nodded again. "Help, would be most appreciated. I believe there's a saying that says... 4 eyes are better than 2?" Frowning slightly, the fairy hoped that she'd said that right. "At least, I think that's what it was..."

"Too bad I don't know this Hitomi, or I'd just tell you how to get there myself," he drawled, starting to look around as well. A Feien sized scrap of paper on this table wouldn't be easy to spot, especially if it had managed to get blown off entirely. Pointing a finger upward, Maq looked back up at her with a raised brow. "Have you tried getting an arial view? Might be easier that way."

Part of him really wanted to see her in flight. Those wings of hers... They looked almost as useless for flying as his own were.

While her own wings weren't exactly the most practical for flying, they served their purpose, as long as she flapped them about as fast as a hummingbird. Now, the actual speed of a hummingbird's flapping wasn't exactly matchable, but the equivalent for would suffice for a comparision. Fluttering them slowly, she pondered his idea.

"That might work, although I think it would be harder. She wrote it on the table itself, instead of something easily portable, so I'm afraid it might have been....wiped away?" Rene was pretty sure the whole idea was a lost cause. It wasn't like she wasn't going to see Hitomi again, but she felt kind of responsible for having not been able to remember the entire address as she'd planned on doing.

On the table itself? Now that was a weird place to write something. "Guess that leaves out the address having blown off somewhere, eh?" He chuckled, the sound rumbling deep in his scarred chest. Taking a closer look at the table, he tried to figure out if he spotted anything that remotely resembled writing.

"I think, even if it wasn't wiped away, it's pretty much lost." Maq motioned to the wide expanse of wood around them, before his hand lifted up to run through his hair, sending the whole vibrant mass standing on end. "Maybe you'll run into her again."

It is a warm day outside and cool breezes blow through the shop. Along with the breezes a cheerful looking tickle-me-pink colored Feien. Her abilities hinder her from flying very well so she seems to fly more like a butterfly. Her body leads the way while her large feathered wings flap behind her sporradically and with small bursts of energy. She alights on a table to rest a moment before venturing around the shop again.

Aria flew into the shop, singing softly to herself. She wanted to get some more cloth, to make some beds for all the pets they had running around. There were so many and Rynn hadn't had the time.

Spying two familar red/orange feien, she grinned. Maq was there! She dove down, hovering behind him, putting her hands over his eyes. "Guess who?"

Nodding solemnly, Reneeka resigned herself to having been careless and lost it. But she also knew this feien was right, and that she'd see Hitomi again, so it wasn't such a horrible loss. "You're right. I'm sure I'll see her again."

It wasn't till a moment later that it hit her. "Mercy me, where are my manners. I apologize. Here we are, having a conversation, and I haven't introduced myself. My name is Reneeka." A flash from her previous encounters, namely with Ian, reminded her to extend her hand out for a friendly shake.

Something out of the corner of her eye looked rather familiar, but Rene knew her manners mattered at the moment, if only to herself, so she didn't turn to look quite yet.

She was quite surprised when yet another familar blur appeared behind her current company. Waving a little to Aria, Rene smiled warmly.

First the arrival of a bright pink flutter, and now... Reaching up a hand to cover those over his eyes, he ran his fingers along the shape of the digits, then up one wrist and over Aria's forearm. "Hmm... I'm going to have to guess..." His fingers tarried momentarily over the inside of her elbow before he grinned. "Aria?"

This was good. Two relatively well-adjusted adults here to talk things out with a pair of juvies. Much better them than other Feien Maq could think of. Of course, with his eyes covered like this, he missed Reneeka offering her hand.

Hitomi peered out the windows hoping she'd lost it. After getting home extremely late last night Mamma saw fit to buy her a set of Sprockets. Or as Hitomi liked to call them, Watchdogs. Even though they bore no resemblance to dogs in anyway. She had just turned to fly towards the other group when she hears the familiar buzz of the Watchdog that was sent to follow her around for the day. The almost translucent misty grey shell of the Air Sprocket comes whooshing through the window just after her. Hitomi rolled her baby blue eyes and took off floyings towards the group, two of which she recognized. "Hello Everyone!"

Aria giggled, letting go of Maq's eyes and waving to Reneeka. "Hi!" She said, coming around front, and landing. The caress in her elbow felt good, way good, but there were too many other feien about. "Hi Reneeka, Hitomi!"

She grinned up at Maq, her eyes sparkling. Had he been alone...well, she would suggest a snug off on a shelf or something. But with the children, that was out of the question.

Reneeka glanced down at her untaken hand, then to his eyes being covered and quickly retracted her hand, blushing. "Hello Aria!" Another voice joined them and she turned to greet it as well. "Hello Hitomi! We were...sort of just talking about you! Though I assure you it was all good."

Turning back to the rest of the feien, Reneeka observed them all. It was becoming apparent to her that none were alike. In color, shape, size, or demeanor. Not that that was a bad thing or anything. Just a simple observation she'd made so far.

"So all you lovely ladies have already met?" Maq laughed, as he wrapped a friendly arm around Aria's shoulders. "Good, good. Strength in numbers, and all that."

As he took in the two youngters, his fingers unconciously tightened on the roll of paper in his hand, forgotten. "Guess you two need to know who I am... Maquinar's the name, but you're free to call me Maq."

The door to the shop was opened and there was all most immediately growling noises heard from the entrance. Kojak came in, all most a roll in the air as he twisted to look around at Wren. He was getting a hang of the flying thing, even if he wasn't all that fast.

"Look, Kojak," the blue totetsu in Wren's arms squirmed and growled, trying to get free, "you stay here while I try to get Ripper a collar and a lead." At the mentioning of a collar, the totetsu started to squirm more. "... before he bites somebody else's arm off," he muttered quietly, before speaking louder, "take care of yourself. I'll be back, okay?"

"Okay. I'll be fine." Kojak nodded his head, happy that Wren was too distracted by the beast in his arms to be worried about him. Then again, at least the thing wasn't trying to eat him like it had some. He turned back around after the door shut and let his attention drift over to the others in the shop. He knew two of those present at least, but one reminded him of the painting Hitomi showed him. So, of course, he started to head that direction.

Aria grinned, wrapping an arm around Maq's waist. "Yep, we met last night, the night or so before..." She trailed off, seeing Kojak and his bond enter. "Hey! Nice to see you again so soon!" She waved him over, grinning.

She glanced up at Maq, not noticing the paper in his hand. "Hey, Maq, you know I got a near twin? I never caught her name last night though...." She trailed off, feeling a little uneasy again. That one had really raised some selfdoubt in her, but she shrugged it off. Most other feien seemed pleasent and she wasn't about to let her near twin ruin it for her.

Hitomi clasps her hands behind her back and rocks on the balls of her feet and smiles widely. "Really? I've only been back for a few days and already the talk of the town!" She looked to Maq as he introduced himself, "It's nice to meet you!"

As she heard the door open she leaned back to look and see who else was comming in. A busy day at the shop! She saw the fluffy swirls of black and yellow and smiled, "Hello Kojak!!"

His name was Maq. It seemed to fit him rather well, though Rene wasn't one to be a good judge of how names fit with their owners. But it was definately a name she could remember, and that's all that mattered right?

Peering around, the feien caught sight of yet another fairy nearing them, a different one than rest. This one was dark skinned, as she was, but he just seemed different somehow. She liked his hair though. It was poofy. Looked like it was probably pretty soft. But she pried her attention from the newcomer. It seemed rude to just stare, and she didn't want to seem rude to anyone.

All this time, Aria's conversation was lost on her. Rene hadn't heard a word of it at all. But Hitomi's bright voice greeting the newcomer brought Rene out of her silence, if only enough to make her appear like she'd been listening the whole time, instead of thinking.

"Near twin?" The idea struck something in Maq, but he wasn't qute able to figure out what. "You've got a near twin?"

The arrival of yet another juvi made Maq wonder if there had been some sort of meeting announcement that he'd missed last time he was here. The faint furrow that had begun to creep over his face at the "near twin" issue smoothed as he smiled at the newcomer, and a male at that. Would that mean there'd be some competition now? Damn, but Maq hoped so. He was aching for a good fight.

"Hitomi, Aria, hello." Kojak finally reached his destination, still hovering a bit to get in a little more practice with his flying. He smiled at the both of them, that charming smile. "It's good to see you two again."

Of course, he eventually did land and a smile was given in the direction of the other two. Particularly since it looked like the other one had been paying attention to him. His tail swished from side to side before curling around his leg briefly.

His gaze focused on the other male, the first one that he had seen, and he peered at him intently for a moment before looking to the other girl -- the brightly colored one. "Kojak's my name, and it's a pleasure to meet you two." Of course, he meant the new he didn't know. ( Apparently manners when it came to introductions was the one thing Wren got into his brain so far. )

Hitomi felt her face flush again and she suddenly got very jittery again. She was feeling fine just a moment ago. She sprocket that followed her in apparently felt the change of emotion and whirred a bit closer to her. Hitomi snapped her head to look at it and it seemed to back off a bit. "Hello Kojak, it's great to see you again." She looked to Aria, "And you too. I had fun last night meeting you guys!"

Aria nodded, frowning as she recalled Q. "She's shorter than I am, not by much though. Long blue hair, large blue dragon wings, her marking are blue, like mine, but circles." Of course Aria would refer to her wings as dragon wings and not bat. "She never told me her name, but she had the prettiest bloom with her...kinda friendly, but not, you know?"

She glanced up at him, nuzzling in close. She hoped this near twin wouldn't come and take her Maq from her. Well, Maq wasn't actually hers, but she liked thinking he was. Other than Ian, there really wasn't others she was sort close too.

"My name is Reneeka." Nodding towards Kojak, she acknowledged his name, staring at him maybe a little too long, but with innocent intent. So she could put a name with a face later on. Though she did happen to notice his tail and pondered about that for a moment....

Aria's description of another feien caught her attention, and she listened carefully. So far she hadn't encountered any such feien, but it would be good to know what others might be out there.

The strangest thing happened then, at least for anyone who had ever known Maq. As realization dawned on him, his bright orange eyes narrowed, blazing almost dangerously. This was the only emotion that showed, however, while his smile slipped away to near nothingness. He spoke softly, more of Aria's benefit than any of the others. "That would have been Quantel."

Humming Beethoven's Ninth, Emperial wandered into the shop as if her presence there was somehow a happy accident. This could not have been further from the truth.

Nestled into her hand and trembling almost violently from cold and fear, Luun began to doubt that he could go through with this. Not that he'd thought he could in the first place. Emperial had insisted.

"You want to do a breeding?" she had said. "Then we'll go to the shop and find two feien to help you. Everything'll be just fine!"

And Luun dearly, dealy wished he could believe her, but as he began to make out the noise of feien voices he only wanted to crawl deep down into Emperial's shirt and bury himself there where no one would find him.

Instead, Emperial called out a greeting to the other feien, mindful to shield Luun lest the little fellow faint. "Afternooon everyone!"

Aria looked at him, blinking. She was a little unnerved by his expression. "You know her?" she asked, her voice soft in return. Judging by his expression, she wasn't one he liked.

Looking up as she saw the shop owner enter, she grinned. "Hi Em!"

It looked like the two adults were focused on one another and Kojak only spared them a brief glance before letting them be. They looked attached to one another, in some way.

Seeing the flush on Hitomi's face, he did his best to not grin widely, but briefly looked curiously at the thing that was hovering about her. "It was fun. Particularly to get out of the house." Kojak shook his head before focusing on Reneeka. So she was the one that Hitomi had painted in the picture. "You're Reneeka? Hitomi spoke about you last night." A little bit, at least. She was brighter than he imagined, but it was cool.

Of course, at the sight of somebody else entering, he turned and looked towards them. His tail loosened and swished as he smiled in greeting, looking at the person curiously.

"Hello!" said Em, about to tack on Aria's name, only she had managed to forget it. "Maquinar, uhhh.... everyone."

Hitomi looked up as she saw someone MUCH larger than herself. It was defiantley a person like Mamma and Auntey Whitey, but this guy was different. Mamma had told her about this lady. She was in charge of the shop and she was the lady who saved the Feien. Hitomi fluttered up a bit higher, the lady had something in her hand and she wanted to know what it was. After fluttering abotu a foot higher Hitomi could see that it was a small boy who was a very pretty shade of blue. And he was shaking. She had hopes that he would come over and chat with them. It was always fun meeting new people.

Reneeka couldn't help but notice the change in Maq, and wondered why exactly he would react thusly to knowing whom Aria was speaking of. But she didn't want to pry, nor did he seem like he really wished to talk about it, so she wasn't going to be the one to implore futher on the subject.

Kojak wasn't the only one curious about the larger person entering. It wasn't like Rene hadn't seen other people similar to her bond, but this one held her interest for a moment before the fairy remembered that she'd been spoken to. "Hitomi spoke of me? I hope it was all good things." This time was Reneeka's turn to blush.

Spotting Em, Maq grinned again, Quantel momentarily forgotten. The chick didn't matter much, anyway. He lifted a hand in greeting. "Hey, Em! Long time no see!" Come to think of it, he couldn't remember having seen the woman since he grew. Guess his coloring made him easier for humans to remember, regardless of his size.

He nodded a bit to Aria, adding out of the corner of his mouth before he forgot, "Quantel is Tera's other Feien. You might want to steer clear of her."

Aria nodded, making a note of it. If Maq said to steer clear of her, she would. She trusted Maq. "I will," she said, smiling up to him, nuzzling into him. She wondered why Em was here, as she never seemed to be while Aria was. Maybe they had always missed each other.

"All good things and a painting of you she did," Kojak spoke to her, grinning and glancing at her out of the corner of his eye. He winked at her briefly before nodding his head towards Em -- since everyone was calling her that ( which meant was she the one that Wren and Halo had mentioned to him? ) -- as she looked just as curious as he was.

"Hello," Kojak said smoothly, still watching Em, and then looking up at Hitomi who was trying to get a flying feien's eye view of things it looked like.

"Say," said Emperial, addressing the gaggle of feien at large, "I'm looking for a pair of feien who might be interested in breeding. Does anyone know where I can find some?" In her cupped hands, Luun quaked and quivered, barely daring to even peek at the feien assemblage.

Oh my god... Aria thought. That's Ian and I!

"Em! I am wanting to breed! But Ianios is at home! It won't take me too long to go get him!" she cried out, unlatching herself from Maq. Granted, if Maq had asked, she'd have said yes in a heartbeat. But he hadn't, so she was going to go get Ian.

"I'll return shortly!" Launching herself from the countertop, she flew out the door, as fast as she could go.

Maq was damned glad now that Tera had made him go to the shop for Quantel. After her big speech about wanting to breed with him, she'd be all over Em at the moment, and another bloom was the last thing Q needed in her possession. After all, he was still coming up with ways to get the spiky thing away from her.

Aria, though. He was more than happy that now she was getting her chance. As she zipped away, he grinned widely. "She's been looking forward to this for a while now," he supplied for Em's benefit.

Hitomi strains to keep herself aloft as she ever so slowly drifts back down to the table. She quickly scampers back over to Reneeka and Kojak and smiles, "There's a little boy in her hand. He's blue. And he has no wings. He looks very scared."

"Wow," blinked Em, looking down at Luun. "That was easy." Luun whimpered something that might have been a word of agreement, but might have just been a random convulsion.

Em shrugged slightly and made her way around the counter to sit and await Aria's return.

"A painting of me? I'm quite flattered..." No one had ever done a painting of her before, but then too, it never occured to her that maybe the fact that she was a rather new face around here might have something to do with that.

Looking up towards the one called 'Em', Reneeka offered her own greetings. "Hello there." She was curious as well to know what was cupped in Em's hands, but didn't know if she should investigate. By the way the hands were held, it appeared that the person was protecting, in some way shape manner or form, whatever was in them. That alone told Rene that maybe she should just stay where she was, and she'd find out eventually, maybe.

Aria's zipping out of the room barely caught the brightly colored feien's attention though, as Hitomi returned to them. "A little boy? Very scared? Oh the poor thing!" Reneeka could sympathize with being really scared. She herself had been quite... frightened when she first came to the shop. "I do hope he's alright..."

Aria returned within a few minutes, actually exhausted. She had gotten home, explained things in a complete rush to Ian, then headed back out. Ian wasn't far behind her.Once she set down on the counter, he buzzed in. Aria's excitement had gotten to him as well. His heart was pounding so hard, he was sure everyone could hear it.

He landed down beside Aria, who was in the process of hugging Maq once again.
"I''m going to have blooms!" she cried.

Ianios smirked. "Well, I'm here." He smiled at Em and waved. "Howdy!" He had heard from Aria on the flight over that she was shop owner and she could help them breed. It was finally happening. He hoped Cel was alright with this, where ever he was.

The mentioning of breeding was vaguely interesting to Kojak, never mind the response in brought out of Aria and the speed in which she disappeared. Of course, it was something he only thought about briefly before turning to look at Hitomi and Reneeka.

"Yes, it was bright, like you." Kojak grinned, looking at Hitomi as she touched back down and shared the information about which Em was hiding within her hands. Another feien? Another young boy like himself? Protecting him from them perhaps? It seemed that way since he hadn't been revealed and Hitomi mentioned shaking. Speaking of which ...

"Thanks for sharing, Hitomi." Kojak gave her another smile, but his eyes cut back to Em. He didn't know quite else what to say, but he nodded in agreement with Reneeka's words absently. Perhaps he wasn't fond of crowds?

Em smiled at the nearby feien but quickly turned her attention to Luun. "We're all done here, and we'll be back home soon," she murmured, storking Luun's back gently with her thumb. The motion did not seem to reassure him in the slightest.

Maq laughed and returned Aria's hug. "That's right! And I couldn't think of a better pair for it."

Aria grinned, smiling. "Thanks, Maq!" She hovered up a bit and kissed him. Then turning to Em, she grinned. "We're ready!"

Ianios nodded. "As we'll ever be!" he added, smiling.

"Breeding. Wow, Mamma said I shouldn't talk about that until I was older. This should be interesting." Her eyes wandered around as she blushed a bit.

"I did a painting of you Reneeka, but I left it at home. Maybe I'll bring it by next time and leave it here so I don't forget it again. And I'll write my address on the back so you can keep it and not forget. I forget a lot of stuff too so it's okay." After seeing Aria zip out and then quickly return with the plant boy she smiled. This must be the one she was blooming with.

"Well, let's head out then," said Em, standing back up and heading for the door. "Nice to see everyone! Have a nice day!" She would have waved, but to do so would deprive Luun of some of his protection.

Aria and Ianios followed, waving to the others. They couldn't wait for this! Both were grinning widely. "Bye!" called Aria as she flew out behind Em.

Maq waved as Aria left, then turned back to the case. He really needed to get these things for Q and get back, before Tera got to worried.

"Thank you Hitomi. I look forward to seeing it." Reneeka grinned. Zipping by her, Aria came back with Ian, and she offered a small wave, though she figured, by the sound of things, the two were quite busy.

"I feel kind of bad for having forgotten some of your address Hitomi, but I got sidetracked on the way home." The feien chuckled, remembering that she'd had to help get one of her 'feien-sitters' unstuck from a small hole he'd managed to get stuck in.

Seeing Aria, Ian, and Em leaving, she waved again, hoping that the little boy in Em's hands would be alright.

Kojak had a fair idea of what breeding meant, but that he wasn't too sure he kept to himself. After all, he wasn't that old and he didn't know everything -- but that was kept to himself and if he got into trouble because of lack of knowledge? He'd work out of it or learn from it.

Which lead to some interesting thoughts, but Kojak smiled and waved goodbye to Aria and her new friend, as well as to Em and the hidden boy within her hands.

His tail swished a bit, back and forth as he thought, and he smiled again, listening to the other two talk. The last adult left seemed busy trying to get things now and -- address? That reminded him he needed to ask Wren about visiting people in the future.

Reneeka watched as Maq busied himself with getting things, and decided he was best left to what he needed to do. Glancing over to Kojak and Hitomi, both seemed rather quiet. Then too, the entire place seemed rather quiet with the sudden leaving of several bodies. Fidgeting with the end of a braid, Rene wondered what her bond was doing right now. It was getting rather late, Angie would probably be coming by to see if she was around soon. The bright fairy was torn between staying and socializing more, or going home to relieve the probably aching mind of her bond. Such a tough decision...

1/30/05 - Hitomi Becomes an Artificer! And Meets Some New Friends

Shiro/Patience]
Sarabi/Hitomi
Rynn/Ianos
ZDT
Sevviekun

It had been ages since Patience had visited the shop. And since Shiro had not gotten back yet, she thought she would visit. Maybe this time she would actually make a list and convince Shiro once he got back to get her a few things there. Fluttering into the shop, Patience flew to the counter with all the feien items.

"I wonder if there is anything new since I last was here..."

She didn't notice if any other feien were in the room, since shopping was on her mind, she headed straight to window shop. Thankfully she took Morgan's pad this time so she could write down her requests. Because last time she had forgotten the things she wanted to buy before. At least now she can record it and bring it up to Shiro later.

Maybe also she would check out the spell book she was shown last time. She finished master one spell and was up and ready to try another.

Hitomi had come to visit the shop to sign up for the Artificer School of Magic. She had gotten distracted from her original task, as usual, by something shiny that she was now in the process of finding. She didn't notice Patience's entrance due to her search. But once she took a break to scan the shop she noticed her looking around at the merchandise. Hitomi fluttered, since she didn't really fly too well, over behind Patience and smiled broadly while saying, "Hello! My name is Hitomi!"

The new voice surprised the older feien. She looked up from her crouched note taking and saw the other feien. Standing up, she faced Hitomi and smiled.

"Hello Hitomi, my name is Patience. How are you today?"

Patience had mastered a bit of controlling her feelings with the constant training that Unmei had given her, so she was able to easily hide the fact that she was thrilled to see another feien here. So many times she came and no one had been there. And it was a younger feien as well, so she was double happy. Also Patience couldn't take her eyes off the two tones Hair Hitomi had. She was just picturing how much she would love to run her comb through that hair and make sure Hitomi was all clean and pretty.

"I'm great! I'm a bit cold though. I came here to do....something. Oh no! I forgot what I came here to do. Mamma is gonna be very upset with me." Hitomi fluttered down to the counter, her stamina wasn't good enough to let her fly for very long. "Crap." About this time the Air sprocket that Sarabi had bought for Hitomi came whirring through the window and flew to Hitomi's side. Taped to it's shiny blue service was a note that was scribbled in Sarabi's messy left-handed handwriting, 'Make sure you signed up! You've talked my ear off about this, please don't forget. Good luck!'. Hitomi smiled again, her mother had a knack for always being just in the nick of time.

Patience stared at the strange device. Usually Shiro used Pickle or one of the other Catterflies to do deliveries. Strange contraption. She wondered how it worked.

"What is that? That... odd thing...?"

She asked Hitomi. She didn't know what to call it, so her comments sounded less then as intelligent she meant it to sound like. But she was still curious.

"It's a Sprocket. Mamma bought some to keep track of me. They can usually be very annoying. Except for when they are very useful, like right now. Mamma usually sends them after me to make sure I'm not misbehaving or being lost. But now it sent me a reminder to sign up for the Artificers. So it is being useful." Hitomi took the piece of paper off and brought the quill from behind her year and scribbled in her best people sized handwriting, 'Thanks Mamma. I had forgot, but now I remember!'. She taped it back to the Sprocket and it whirred back out of the shop.

Patience watched it zip off in wonder.

"Such strange thing. I will have to tell Shiro about it when he get's back. Maybe he'll know more about it. But what is this 'Artificers' thing you signing up for?

Patience gave one more look at where the sprocket went and then turned her full attention to the younger feien. It had been a while since she had been here last, maybe this was something new offered. Or something, she wanted to know more either way.

Hitomi thought about it for a second, explaining how things unmechanical worked was something she had a bit of trouble with. "It is a school...sorta. You learn ancient kinds of magic that teach you how to make magical things. Like staffs and stuff." She hoped that was a good enough explanation. "I like making stuff so I figured it would be good for me!" She looked around for a list or something to write her name on.

Ianios flew into the shop, looking for Em. He wanted to know if there had been blooms, and what was talking Aria so long to re-emerge. He was getting worried. Seeing two feien he'd never met before however caused him to settle down on the countertop.

One was pink, with gold and blue hair. She was younger than he, he could tell. The other was green, like he was. How odd...he didn't think there was other green feien at all. And her eyes..they glowed!

Ian blinked. "Hello, Ladies!" he called out, smirking slightly to him.

Patience nodded to Hitomi. She understood it well enough, she would think about it. Maybe she should try it as well. But her thoughts and a replay was cut short by another feien arriving. She hide her happiness for her luck today for being able to chat with two of them today. Today was a good day.

"Hello. And who might you be?"

Names, names was always a good thing, so she could record it later.

Ianios smiled, nodding to the two. "Name's Ianios, but feel free to call me Ian. Everyone else does. I hope I'm not interrupting anything."

He glanced around, the questions he wanted to ask Em still in the back of his mind. But it seemed she was nowhere to be seen.

Patience nodded in return, making it more like a mini box like Shiro always did.

"Hello Ian. My name is Patience. I was just talking with Hitomi. We're just chatting, so your not interrupting anything. Though Hitomi is looking for where you sigh up for something in the shop."

Hitomi smiled as Ian approached. She has seen him before although it was very brief. He had come in as a green blur when Aria brought him after Luun had shown up. "Hello! I am Hitomi. You had flowers with Aria right?"

"I certainly hope so. Aria is home, still in her bloom state. I re-emerged yesterday. But as for the blooms we had...if we had any..." He trailed off. He had no idea if they did in fact even create one bloom.

Sighing, he looked towards the back of the shop. "Excuse me, I want to see of Em's back there." With that, he flew back there.

Patience nodded. Though she really didn't know what he was talking about, she guessed it might have been something about breeding. She remembered Aris re-emerging when she bred. Maybe he was talking about that.

"I hope you find what your looking for Ian."

She said as he flew to check the back. She turned to Hitomi.

"That was a quick visit... Did you find the paper to sign up yet?"

Creep. Creep. Creeeeep... And there they were. Some actual, factual, appearing before her Feien type persons. Heart beginning to race, ZDT slipped into the shop, her hands cupped over the cleft of her bosom, and what was hidden therein.

The movement of something quite larger then herself try to sneak around the shop was not hard to notice. Though she didn't let the bigger form notice that she knew it was there, she was keeping watch of it from the corner of her eye.

Large, exaggerated steps brought her closer and closer to the tiny people in question, almost as if she were afraid of frightening them off. The horns on her head quivered excitedly, her hands fluttering up briefly, exposing the bright blue blob that hid in her cleavage, before settling down and hiding it away again.

The person was getting closer. And now it was obvious she was there. Patience turned on her heel and faced her directly. Placing her hands on her hips and staring at her with her glowing yellow eyes, she cocked her head tot he side and addressed her.

"Hello there.”

Glee! It spoke, it spoke to her, and it had eyes like fire! Crouching down slightly so that she was a little more on par with the teeny one, but looking as if she were fixing to pounce, ZDT spoke in a hoarse stage whisper. "You be a Feien type! A girl, a girl..." Hints of a grin appeared above the top of the scarf swathing the lower half of her face.

Ian returned from the back, saddened Em wasn't there. Did they have blooms at all? He blinked, seeing the strange woman. "Hello there," he called out to her.

He landed on the counter, nodding to Patience and Hitomi. "She wasn't there."

Patience's one eye brow rose as she looked at the crouching lady in front of her.

"Yes. I speak. Yes I'm a female, girl feien. You must be a new person, or a new owner to be, eh?"

Patience noticed the bulge in her shirt and the slight glimpse of blue earlier. When Ian flew back, she gave him a wave, but kept an eye on the larger, er... Person if she could call it that.

"Who were you looking for?" Patience wondered.

Hitomi looked to the large sneaky type woman and furrowed her brow, "What are you doing? It's hard for someone who is huge like you to sneak around. You should try a little harder at being smaller." Hitomi looked around the room and spotted a piece of paper on the wall, "But since you're here would you mind taking me to that sheet of paper? It's way over there and I don't fly very well.

So much at once, ZDT looked from one little Feien to the next, and finally at the littlest one at all. So pretty, and so different than the two of the other Tera's... One all a-glow, one a fluff puff of cotton candy, and one that looked for all the world like a jalapeno pepper. What would this thing of hers emerge? What, indeed?

At the request for a ride, ZDT's hands moved away once more from that which hid behind them, cupping forward and offered to the pink one as if paying a penance. She nodded quickly, then breathed, "You I shall take to the paper, yes." As if in after thought, or from the tilt of her head, as if overheard by another, she added, "And no more, take no more." Another flash of white from behind the scarf as she smiled.

Ian blinked at the strange woman. He was confused by her, but she seemed friendly, in a odd sort of way.

But his thoughts were on the blooms he and Aria might have made. What if there was none? He could not bare that. First Celaien was torn from him, then there might not be any blooms. He sighed, taking a seat on the countertop. How was he to tell Aria, when she re-emerged?

Hitomi walked into her palm and held onto a finger as to stabilize herself. She looked up at the lady, there was something that just wasn't quite right. Hitomi couldn't figure out quite what it was but as long as she didn't try to hurt her it would be okay. She pointed to the feien sized piece of parchment and said, "There. That one."

From her vantage point, Hitomi was most likely to be the first to see the blue burrish chestnut nestled delicately in the bodice of her dress, the tiny spikes on it having left a fine network of scratches on the flesh of her upper chest. With a happy little hum, she carried the Feien over to said Feien-sized piece of paper.

What ever Ian had to talk to Em about, it sure was bugging him that he could not find out. Patience felt bad, but it had been a long time since she had been here, so she knew of nothing that had been going on. So she couldn’t be of to much help. Though maybe she could cheer him up. She walked over, taking her eyes off the lady for a bit and came to sit next to Ian

"You look bummed... Anything you want to talk about?"

Her motherly instincts kicking in, telling her to try to help and comfort the younger Feien.

Ian looked up at Patience. Obviously she had noticed his distress at being unable to find out anything about the breeding. He nodded, offering her a seat.

"Aria and I bred...I wanted to know the results of such. If there were any offspring at all. When I re-emerged, I recognized Aria's bloom, having seen it before in a book Rynn keeps on us. But there wasn't a new one about. And I was for certain Aria would re-emerge soon. But she's not come out yet…” He trailed off, looking at his hands. "She's my sister, well, housemate really, though I call her such. I'm just worried...what if there was no blooms, and the breeding was all for not?"

As they neared the other side of the room Hitomi fluttered down and wrote her name on the list under the Artifice School of Magic with Simon and Aquaphina. After this was done she flitted back up into ZDT's palm. She spotted the blood covered bloom in her cleavage and pointed, "What's that? Will that be a feien? Where did it come from?"

Patience nodded. Now knowing the reason behind his stress. Well, it was understandable. They had bred and they wanted to know if there was a result. It was a logical reason to be upset.

"Well, I am sorry I haven't been around to know. It has been a while since I had last been here. I wish I knew so that I could tell you. Though, from what I heard, I don't think that there has been a breeding so far that wasn't successful with at least one. Do you know how they select owners for bred blooms?"

She wondered, maybe if she knew how they got the owners, they might be able to find out who might know who has them or who might also know besides Em.

Ianios shook his head. "Not really. I heard Rynn saying once she had a couple of people she promised future blooms too, but none have come by in the last day to say thanks. At least I haven't heard from any."

At Hitomi's questioning, ZDT glanced downward and saw that the bloom was indeed exposed. A startled hand moved up to protect it once more, even though she nodded. "Yes, yes, zee bloom is mine!" A trill of slightly off laughter followed, only to be caught suddenly short. The addition to her response was much more serious. "A gift, indeed, from one who took all else... The great Tera said it came from two who bred, two of you who came and led."

Her head tilted to one side, listening. As a shiver ran through her, she quickly shifted the pink Feien from her palm to a safe surface nearby. "ZDT must go, must flee! THEY grow hungry..."

Turning abruptly on heel, she fled the shop, as if chased by the demons of hell themselves.

Patience thought for a while. No one had stopped in, so he doesn't know if there was any.

"Well, you said you just emerged right? Well How long were you out for, maybe everyone came when you were still a bloom. Is there any way you can talk to your bond? Maybe they will know."

Patience tried to sound hopeful. There had to be someone who knew, maybe he just was in bloom form when they had come for the other blooms.

Ianios turned suddenly, hearing the strange woman speak of two who had bred. She had one of his blooms, as he knew none others who had bred! He bolted after her, only to find she had vanished once out the door. He sighed, having hoped to have seen the bloom, then smiled. At least there was one bloom. He and Aria had helped give at least one new life to the feien race.

He went back to Patience and sat back down. "Well, at least now I know of one owner," he said with a smile.

As ZDT fled from the room Hitomi fell from her hand. She caught herself with her wings before she hit the floor. That lady was weird. She would try to avoid her later. She fluttered back up to where the other two were. "That lady was weird. She has a bloom though. It was blue. She said it came from a breeding. It was sharp and pointy and was making her bleed. She had to go though." Like she hadn't said anything of importance, Hitomi alighted on the table and sat down. She had signed up for the Artificers, but she didn't really feel any different. Was she supposed to?

Patience nodded towards Ian. He had found out about one of them. so now he had good news to tell Aria when she emerged. And hopefully it bought up his spirits now. Once Hitomi came back, Patience noticed she was dirty from the landing. She flew over and landed behind the younger feien.

"Are you alright? You fell."

Patience went to inspecting Hitomi to make sure she was alright, and also fussed and dusted her off.

Ianios nodded. "I heard." He was smiling, happy at the news. "Did you see it though? Other than the color? What did it look like?"

"I think I'm alright. It was just very rude of her to just run out and drop me like that. Very unlady like." Thinking it nothing more than just another bloom she told Ian, "It looked like a blue ball, except spiky. Not one that would be fun to play with. It was blue, but darker blue than Aria." She shrugged, "Why is it so important? Did you know her?"

Ian grinned, his whole features alight with joy. "It's one of the blooms Aria and I created. We're the one ones I have heard of lately that bred. I'm sure of it! And spiky, hmm?"

Interesting, he thought. A blue ball with spikes. He'd have to ask Rynn what that bloom could be.

Undaunted by her saying she was ok, Patience was going to make sure that she was. She fussed over and took some extra time to running her hands through her two colored hair, pulling bit of floor lint out of it. After a minute or two of fussing, Patience seemed happy enough to back off. She wanted to continue until Hitomi pushed her away, but she didn't know the girl well enough to subject her to one of her combing sessions she always used to give to Tostem. Though his hair was much more of a wreck then any Feien she had ever seen.

"Congrats Ian. Now you know you got one bloom at least out of it, there could be more."

"Aye, that I do. I will have to ask Rynn about the others. I hope there are others." He frowned, something puzzling him. "Why do you suppose Rynn didn't keep one of our offspring? Or was it simply not ready to be delivered?"

That now burned at him. Surely she would have wanted one.

Well, maybe it hasn't arrived yet. I hear some blooms take a while to arrive. But don't worry. I bet it's on it's way. It would make sense that your bond would have wanted one too."

Patience thought. If she had a breeding, she would make sure Shiro kept at least one. But as much as she would like a breeding, she really didn't have to many people she knew that she would breed with.

The plant feien nodded. "Makes sense. Thanks." He looked to her. "Are you a plant feien, by chance?" He was asking because of her coloring.

Sevviekun slipped nervously into the shop, looking about curiously as he went. He hadn't been here before, but he thought that perhaps he ought to come visit and see if there were any feien about to talk to about his bloom - er, leaf. Said leaf was settled in a shallow dish of water, floating idly on top.

His question wasn't one she expected, though she didn't mind answering the question.

"No, I didn't know there was a plant element. I am an Earth element though. At least as much as I could tell. Shiro said I was called an Earth feien. Apparently he also said that there weren't many earth feiens."

Some motion got her eye. She looked over and there was another person sneaking around. Did they actually think they were hiding being that big?

Ian glanced to the newcomer. "Hey!" he said, waving the human over. "What have you there?"

Stiffening suddenly as the green feien called him, he forced himself to relax and slink over to the two. "It's my bloom, well, leaf," he explained, setting the dish down on the counter. "Would either of you happen to know Rynn?"

Curious at how a bloom looked, Patience strolled over and leaned to look at the bloom. It was a cute little leaf. And young feiens came from plants like this. Interesting. She so wanted to take care of one, but something told er to keep away when Nekota had gotten his second. That bloom turned out to be a menace. She was both upset and happy she never ran into him before Nekota left Hurog. But should would have to talk to Shiro to get her a bloom of her own to take care of.

Ianios blinked. So here was one who knew his bond! He got up quickly, hurrying over to see the leaf, his bloom, he knew it. He grinned to Patience. "Look, it's another one of my blooms! That makes 2!" He was beside himself with joy.

Calming down, he hugged Patience. "Earth, huh? Close to plant! I bet you got nifty powers!"

He looked back to Sevvie and bowed, once letting Patience go. "Rynn's my bond!"

"Really?" he said, grinning happily. "I know Rynn! She talks about you and her other feien, Aria, a lot. I'm happy to meet you, especially as you're one of mine's parents."

Patience was not prepared for a hug. It caught her off guard and she almost didn't hear what Ian said after that. Hugs are good. A bit odd, but hugs are good. Patience smiled, he was happy. It makes sense that Ian was happy about finding another bloom on his.

"I am slowly learning how to use my magic. But so far the only thing I can do is make my skin harder. I came today to maybe look at some other spells to give them a try."

Sevvie's attention was caught by the girl feien. "Magic spells? Could my feien learn those too?" If so, he was bound and determined to get a copy of the spell listings.

Hitomi looked around herself, she had done what she had come here to do. She had hoped she had done it correctly. But now it was time to start getting home. It was getting late and she needed to get home before dark because chances of her getting lost were greater after dark. She saw the new man come in and as eager as she was to meet new people she did need to get home. "It was great meeting you guys." She turned to Ian and said, "If Aria comes out of her bloom tell her that I missed her today! Patience, it was nice meeting you today. We'll have to talk again later!" She fluttered out the window and off into the night.

Ianios nodded, trying hard to focus attention on both feien. He waved to Hitomi as she left. "I can make plants grow, but that's it," he said with a smile.

He grinned to Sevvie. "She does? Cool! I'll have to tell her you came by!" He glanced at the leaf. He was wondering if it would be a son or a daughter. At least he knew he or she would be blue eyed and black haired, like he. But so far all the blooms he had so far were blue. Did Aria's color knock out his own?

Patience looked up at the new owner and nodded.

"Yeah, may Feiens have magic. Tostem, who was one a house mate, he used a lot of air spells and things like that. I think there is a book here listing all the known 'spells' that feiens seem to be able to do."

Patience looked around and then spotted the book that she had found before with Tahki. She flew over and pointed at it.

"That's the book, I'm pretty sure."

She heard Hitomi say her goodbyes and turned to wave as she left. She darted forward so she could yell.

"Get home safe!"

2/28/05 - Hitomi Studies Up!

Hitomi was sent to the Feien shop to sign up for the Artificer class. She apparently came back all signed up. She has since then copied down the tablets and has been reading them almost everyday trying to make sure she hasn't missed anything. She's pretty much got them memorized by now it seems. We're also trying to plan a visit to Kojak's house. She likes him a lot. I think it's great that she has friends now, she was by herself for so long while we were 'away' from home.
