"What?" She said as she finally caught up. Of course he wanted her too, but she didn't care. They were about half way from their finish line, the clam. "Half way there! Winner gets to open the clam!" She smiled, blew a kiss at him, and pushed herself to go a bit faster.

His eyes widened as she blew a kiss at him and momentarily he forgot that he was supposed to be swimming. Shacking his head to clear the fog, he swam hard to catch back up and take the lead again before letting her pull ahead again. It was fun playing leapfrog with the leader and he continued to play as they raced to their goal.
When they got close to clam, an idea sparked into his head, and he let her get in front again only to grab her gently from behind and pull her into a hug, their combined momentum carrying them the rest of the way.
He looked into her eyes and smiled sheepishly. "Ooops. Must have tripped on a rock. Sorry about that. Guess we'll have to open it together then."

Aquamarine laughed as she was having alot of fun going back and forth with Rai. Who would be the winner? She wasn't sure.
She had no idea what had happened when all of a sudden she felt Rai garb her tail and then next thing she knew he was holding her in a hug. She blushed brightly and smiled, "Bad rock." She didn't move to get out of his grasp. "I guess we will."

Asrai continued to hold her close to him, his heart pounding. His mouth was dry, rather ironic as they were underwater. He'd played this moment over in his head hundreds of time but now that they were actually opening the clam he wasn't sure what to do or say. He just continued to gaze into her eyes.

She smiled and the blush grew to where she was sure it covered her whole body. She didn't want this moment to end, but she did want to open the calm, what to do. She broke the moment finally, "Should to open it?"

Asrai was lost in his thoughts and her eyes, the sound of her voice bringing him back to reality. "Oh yeah. That's what we came here for after all. He reluctantly let him arms slip from around her and moved to one side of the clam getting a good hold on it, waiting for her to get in position as well.

She was a bit sad to have him let her go. It had felt so nice, but she knew that had a job to do here. She went to the other side of the clam and looked over at Rai, "Ready!" She remembered how small they were when they had hidden their treasure here.

"Ready? On three! One...two...three..." The Naiad pushed with all his might. The clam opened much easier with 'Qua's help. Asrai reached in quickly and snatched out their treasure before she had a chance to get a good look. He wanted everything to be perfect.

Aquamarine looked in after the clam was lifted up and didn't see Rai take the treasure away. "Wait, it's empty." Did someone find the treasure before they got back. She frowned and wondered who could have done it.

Asrai was tempted play along just to tease the girl but he was too nervous. Instead, he smiled reassuringly. "I've got it, don't worry. " He started to lower the lid to the clam shell carefully.
"Watch your fingers. That was a lot easier then when we were kids huh?"

"Oh good." She giggled and then let the clam fall. She swam close to him, "So, what is it? I actually don't remember." And she didn't she just knew that it was a treasure they had hidden and vowed to retrieve one day.

The naiad continued to smile, his confidence quickly returning. 'Qua always managed to make him feel at ease, it was one of the things about her that attracted him.

"Ok, but you better not trick me." She giggled and closed her eyes. She stuck out her hands and waited to see what their treasure was. Gold coins? Shells? Hmm...

"I won't, I promise." He gently placed their treasure in her hands, covering with his own in case she decided to peek before he was ready. In the back of his mind he was worrying if perhaps he should have waited until they were on land so that he could be kneeling.
"'Qua, we found this treasure when we first just met as kids. Ever since then we've been best friends and I want to always be there with you as your friend and well...I know a ring is traditional but I thought this would have more meaning..."
"Go ahead and open your eyes"
Asrai waited until she had to remove her hand from over the treasure revealing it.

Aquamarine opened her eyes and blushed as he talked. Wow, what a great speech. "Oh course I will!" She latched onto him and hugged him tight.
"I want to be with you always too! When you aren't aren't here I miss you so much." She pulled back to look at his face and then took the comb, "It's so beautiful."
