She gave a light snort. It was pure skill and she was proud of it. Not many animals could do the same feat. Certainly not such a lazy male.
"No, perhaps not... I couldn't possibly harm you." She responded then followed after him. He was hoping he was telling the truth. At least her kill was safe while she was away.
She gives a slight sigh. "Lions and I have a habit of not getting along. All the ones I have met have been pigheaded and foolish. I don't like them. THey also steal my kills any chance they get. The cowards."

"Ah," he said, trying not to laugh. It was a bit ironic to him to be a part of this conversation. Hyena, after all, were notorious for stealing kills from any and every thing they could. It was in their nature as scavengers and, beyond that, it was really fun to see a lion get pissed off as a group of hyena stole its hard won dinner.
It was one of the events in his life that he wasn't lazy about, and that he particularly enjoyed. Stealing from others. Causing trouble. Most of the time, he didn't do it out of need or even desire. He did it for the pure entertainment of making some ones day bad.
As such, he didn't have the greatest karma. Which was fine, since he didn't actually believe in it.
"Yeah, lions are jerks. I'm not really a fan. They growl at me and chase me even when I'm not doing anything to them. I don't have much experience with leopards, though. Probably because you guys are always up in trees."

Olayinka gave a low snort as they padded along, the sun playing on her sleek cream fur. "Lions think they own all of Africa." She retorted, still more then willing to lay into them with harsh words. "We like the trees save for the monkeys. They're always after our food or trying to chase us off. Mostly the baboons. But on the same token if we catch them." She gives a flash of her teeth. "We make short work of them."

"They kind of do own all of Africa. I mean, most of it, I guess. Not like you should complain. You're a leopard. I'm a hyena. We're lower than you on the pecking order, I think. If lions look down on you, they don't even see us." He sighed, shaking his head. Looking around, he knew there was no water in this direction. Frowning, he considered his options.
He wanted to leave. Definitely wanted to leave. But he either had to distract her and slip away, or run like hell and hope she couldn't catch up. Leopards were fast, but really, how determined might she be to catch him? She didn't really have a reason, just because he led her astray and promised her something he couldn't give.
Right?
Blinking, he noticed she had finished speaking about the lions and monkeys and he stopped in his tracks.
"I uh. Bye!" And he darted off, laughing wildly as he went. Not the best prank of his life, but still exhilarating.

She snorted over at the hyena. "I understand your problem. One day those lions will be put in their place. No doubt about it."
She too was suspecting that his promise of water was false. Oh well, she was sure to find it one way or another. What she didn't expect was for her lead to suddenly take off without warning, cackling all the way.
She drew back her lips, exposing her teeth. Well if that was the way it was going to be! She let out a snarl, like a mountain cat and shot after him. Not really intending to catch him but to give him a run for his money.
She broke off from chasing him after a few minutes, feeling rather accomplished in chasing him off in her opinion and started back the way they came. Shame too. Once he was talking she found he was rather likable.
