So they set off down the trail. Nexis was deeply absorbed in the question of how much more weird could the family tree get. "I think we could improve on the weirdness quotient," he mused, "Provided we both seek out the strangest kitsus we can find before we reproduce."
For some reason, the idea of either one of them reproducing with wildly hilarious. He roared with laughter.
"Just kidding," he assured her, which was a pun, and sent him chortling again.

At this, Verix gave him a dirty look. She hadn't planned to reproduce, especially when she saw such disappointments that came from her sister. But hey, if she thought about it, if mother could produce someone like the three of them (Zweix wasn't counted), it wouldn't really be so bad after all.
"At least," She retorted. "If I ever wanted to have kids of my own to train, I wouldn't pick a stupid father."

Nexis nodded thoughtfully. "Sister's sense of eugenics is an utter failure," he said. "But then again, consider our father. At least the bloodline is good."
He sniffed at the air, pondering where the hell Shayou could possibly be.
"But who knows where the hell Bird Brain came from?"

Verix opened her mouth and closed it again abruptly. She disliked Xelon yes, but what Nexis said was true, their father's bloodline was good. Her father was just a bit...muddled in the head.
"I guess." She muttered.
"He popped out of nowhere, didn't he? Daddums always liked taking stray eggs; he had that little pixie girl too."

"If I had any brains," said Nexis lowly, vaguely remembering the pixie girl but also remembering a green kit as well, "And we all know that I do, I would say he liked them better than he liked us."
Such a grave injustice. But, then again, it was their father they were talking about. "Mother always seemed favorable, though," he added, scanning the trail. No sign of the bratling yet...

"I always thought so." She shrugged. "He punted me off to Uncle's care and then kicked Derix out of his house, while Bird Brain is still in there." There was a hint of resentment in her voice. While Verix might not care most of the time, she still took it as an insult that their own father thought more highly of Kyo than he did of them.
"True." She replied, eyes flicking about. "Are you sure he's here?"

"Sure? No," replied Nexis, hanging his head. "But it seemed like a likely place. He's certainly not at home. Mother's been in a funny mood lately."
He didn't want to think what that could possibly forebode.
"If we do find him and kill him, just tell her it was an accident."

"If you want, I can say I didn't recognize him. It's a plausible excuse." She offered with a fanged grin.

"Funny," said Nexis, and didn't elaborate. Best not to make Verix get worked up about it.
"Works for me," he agreed. There was a familiar scent in the air. "I think he might be here after all. Smell that?"

Verix shrugged. Their mother should be fine. She hadn't visited in a long while, but then again, how long had she seen either of her parents? Verix was pretty sure nothing would happen to either of them though.
She sniffed the air. "Yeah, it smells of stupid."

"How astute of you," replied Nexis, his habitual smirk growing. He tensed his muscles, preparing to run.
"And you know what that means?" he asked his sister quietly.
"The hunt is on!"

Verix grinned at him and darted off swiftly, following the scent. Family reunions. How nice was it to have them.

Nexis fell into a run behind her. He was perfectly content allowing her to lead the way - it prevented internal conflict. And besides, they had a common goal.

He thought he heard a noise in the distance. Hmmm? Probably just a bird...

Verix stopped, eyes narrowing at their target with a grin. "That is him, right?" She asked Nexis in a low voice. Granted, he did look like Kyo, and she was all for attacking a random kitsusagi...
But there would be much more satisfaction if it was indeed her nephew.

"That's him," nodded Nexis. He pulled ahead of his sister and leapt from the bushes, snarling.

Shayou looked up, only to see two enormous, vicious full grown kitsu emerge from the bushes.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
And then they were on top of him. Poor Shayou. He never stood a chance.
