Jazz tossed down the last of the flowers, then turned and looked at dismay at the once-beautiful meadow. There were bald patches that made the meadow look pockmarked, and some places had been picked clean. He felt a tiny shred of guilt at the destruction, not for the flowers, but knowing that Fiala would be sad upon seeing how many flowers he had plucked, even if it was in the hope of finding her.
He thought about looking down and seeing if she had seen and was making her way up, but he didn't want to dislodge any loose stones or distract her and possibly cause her to slip, so he just stepped well away from the ledge and decided to crouch down among the flowers. He told himself again and again that it wasn't for the sake of romantic ideas that he did this; for all he knew, the rain of flowers could attract something other than Fiala.....something unfriendly.

Fiala noticed that the flowers rain had suddenly started to slow down and, suspecting that the flower supply was running low, nabbed one. She smiled at it, and placed it decoratively behind her ear. Then she resumed the path, getting closer and closer to the ledge. She called out softly, not loud enough for an avalanche but perhaps just loud enough to reach. "Jazz?"

Jazz perked his ears up so taht they stood out among the sparse patches of flowers. He could have sworn he had just heard something on the wind; a cry of some sort. He wondered if it might have been an eagle, but it could very well be something else. The thought of Fiala anxiously awaiting an answer crossed his mind, and he decided that he ought to answer, and he would do so in a way that only she would know, if it indeed was her. He drew in a deep breath and yelled as loud as he could. "PRINCESS!"

Fiala smiled brightly at the call of princess. "Jazz!" She replied happily as she hurried up. It wasn't that she doubted that it was Jazz before, but hearing him call her nickname out like that ensured it was really him that was up there and not an evil villian. She could see the ledge getting closer and closer...soon she'll be able to get on top of it.

Jazz poked his head out, certain now that he had heard something; something that definitely sounded like Fiala. He looked over to the ledge, still dotted with flower petals and bare flower heads, waiting for Fiala to reach the top. He was certain a flower shower wouldn't impede her making it up here, but if she didn't appear in the next few minutes, he was going to run over there and see if she needed some help.

Fiala continued her trek upward, spured on by thought of Jazz at the top. She carefully controlled her speed, not wanting to go too fast nor wanting to worry him by moving too slowly. She was starting to get tired, but she was almost there. Pretty soon she got the sensation that she could just reach up and grab the very edge of the ledge. Just a little farther...

Finally unable to stand it any longer, Jazz jumped out of the flowers and made a beeline for the edge. Peering down, he beamed as he saw Fiala so close to the top. Fighting to not shout, he crouched down and held out his paw, speaking in a normal voice. "Hi there, princess. D'you need some help?"

Fiala looked up and smiled at Jazz, "Yes, at least a little help." She was getting fatigued, and she'd need at least a little bit more energy to escape the mountian. She reached up with her own paw and took hold of his, still inching upwards to make it easier on Jazz. She hoped he had a good grip on the ledge, otherwise the results could be tragic.

Jazz grabbed a hold of Fiala's paw and put his energy into one big pull, getting her up on the ledge but causing him to fall onto his behind and sit there looking dumb. He scrambled up as fast as he could and tried to will the blood filling up his face to go away. "I'm....er....glad you found me. I thought the flowers would get your attention. Uhh....sorry I had to pick a lot."

Fiala gave Jazz a hug for helping her up. "Thank you." She was sure that without him there she'd still be wandering around, lost and confused. With him here, at least she had someone to guide her to safety. She let go of him after a moment and looked around at the flower patch, and smiled, "It's alright. They'll grow back. Besides, I caught one of them for safe-keeping." She pointed at the flower she placed behind her ear. She'd probably press it in a book later on that day.

Jazz chuckled, actually relieved that Fiala hadn't been upset about the flowers. He walked over to the edge of the cliff, where he had helped Fiala up. He liked the view from up here; he could still see a few stray flowers winging their way to the trees like tiny birds. "This is a pretty amazing view, huh? Kinda makes getting lost worth it."

Fiala looked down, agreeing full-heartedly with Jazz upon seeing the flowers flitting down toward the leafy canopy that was the forest. "Yes, it is! It's really nice." What an adventure today had been, and it was a good one if her time in the mountains could include this sight.

Jazz cast one more look at the beautiful scenery before turning to Fiala, unsure now of what to do. "So.....uhh.......do we try to head down or what? We can stay up here if you want. Or we could go down."

"We should probably head down before it gets too dark," replied Fiala, tearing her eyes from the sight and toward Jazz with a smile. She didn't doubt his ability to be able to bring her home in the dark, but if she could make things easier for him all the better. She looked down a bit, asking, "So which way should we head down?"

After pondering a moment and looking around, Jazz pointed in the direction that Fiala had emerged from. "That seems to be the only way down. So long as we don't get separated, we should be alright. Even if we don't make it home before dark, I can still protect you." ^^ He walked toward the edge and began to ease his way down. "I'll go first; that way if you slip, I'll be down here to catch you."
