"Is that the same as taking another piece?" Liang replied with another question, moving forward her knight.

He nodded, "Yeah, nothing special about taking him. In fact you can win without ever attacking the king. You just have to be able to make it so the piece can't move anywhere." He explained, moving one of his rooks along.

"I see." The girl nodded, continuing the game, moving forward another white piece, threatening the black king with capture.

Orpheus gave a smile, moving one of his pieces forward as well, hoping to counter whatever Liang might be thinking... but at the same time he was rusty, hadn't played for a while so he wasn't watching as well as he could have.

The girl's eyes widened, then settled her chin on her hands, her elbows propped up on the table. The game was getting interesting, and she was starting to grasp the concept.
She contemplated a few moves before deciding to move another white rook forward to trap the king in his place. Liang looked up, the look on her face a question. Had she won...or not?

Orpheus paused with his hand over the board, looking the arrangement of the pieces over... then started to chuckle, "Very good." He said, laying a finger on his King and tipped it over to show that his King had been defeated, "That was a great game Liang, I am impressed with how quickly you picked it up."

Liang grinned in return. "It was fun." She replied. "Thank you, Mister Orpheus." Idly, she wondered if she could teach any of her siblings how to play the game and compete against them.

"Not a problem, it was fun to get to play the game again. Thank you for being my opponent." He said before he started to gather his pieces, putting them back in the game box, "That is all for today then, I will be sending a letter home to you soon with the results of the class and a reward as well."
