I hate bad cosplayers, they make me cringe.
However, his argument is not only rather biased, it is futile.
You are not going to stop bad American Cosplay by ranting about it on Gaia.
And there's no getting around the fact that he took the best from Asia and the worst from America.

And perhaps there is a good reason America lacks the top notch quality cosplayers that Asia seems to have. Let's grab Yuna from FFX, since I've played that before. To successfully cosplay as Yuna, you need to be or have the following:

-19 to 21ish?
-White complexion
-Female (duh)
-Thin build
-Short brown hair
-Sexy pirate
-A love of Yuna from FFX
-An authentic Yuna costume

If there is a 19 year old sexy white brunette in America, she's in Hollywood or at a social party with her boyfriend(s). Who plays FFX in America? Nerds and geeks. The people with no social life. Of course, that view is changing as video games are becoming more popular in the US, but we aren't there quite yet. Anyone sexy enough to cosplay as Yuna is 9 times out of 10 not going to use their looks and talents to cosplay as Yuna ((Assuming they even play video games)) when they could be using them to get guys and glory.

This is discouraging me from cosplaying Nino. But I must not let it! Y.Y

She's difficult to authentically cosplay as, unless you raise your daughter to be a Nino replica 3nodding

If cosplaying makes you happy, then you shouldn't care about the opinons of others. If they don't like it or appreciate the efforts you go through to cosplay someone you like, then they have no right to complain about it. Then again... they really have the right to complain in that case... stare

Calling someone a racist makes me one? I suppose I may be prejudiced just a little, but all my judgments have merits because of the stuff I hear about every day... yeah. Let's not get into that.

But still, taking anime cons/game cons so seriously? That's... stupid. Really stupid. That person needs to be flamed a million times over. If I knew how to come up with a good flame, I would.
