He listened to the other's tale. It was interesting so far, as well as sad. Though, that's what made the story good. If it was always happy, there'd be no story in it at all. Sadness brought everyone in close, to wonder if everything would be better again. Narhari kept quiet as he continued to gnaw on a bone he finally was able to free from the corpse in font of him. His eyes were open now, looking intensely at the other waiting for more.
He hadn't heard a story like this in a long time. Normally they were about other's lives, and what happened to him. Though, he did enjoy them, he had to say he enjoyed stories like this a little better.

The Goddess realized that her time had come, but before she passed on to be reborn, she had to give birth. It was a long and painful process, and she lived only long enough to name her one cub, a daughter. Then she dissolved into a puddle of rain, leaving the cub sodden and alone.
Hours passed, and a wandering family took her in. They raised her as their own, for she had taken mortal form from being born in our world. She told them her name, and they called her by it. She was 'Juho'Moikue', and she was their pride and joy.
Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, and one day the little family joined a pride. This pride had a horrible ritual they were not told about before, and upon joining they learned that Juho'Moikue would have to be sacrificed to the volcano the pride worshiped or they would all be killed.

"That's horrible" Narhari found himself saying in shock. How could anyone sacrifice little cubs for their own gain. CUBS?! It was rather sicking to think about. Luckily, it was only a story. Or if it was true, Narhari would have to try to do something to help prevent anything like that happening. but what could one lion truly do?
Though, instead of truly interrupting the other, he didn't say anything else and went back to gnawing on a bone. Sure there were prides that did stuff that could be similar, there was evil within the world, that he couldn't ever understand or imagine. Though, one day, he'd figure out how to stop it.

Bombei nodded solemnly in response to Narhari's exclamation.
Of course, Juho'Moikue's adoptive parents were horrified, and they tried to flee away into the night...Sadly they were caught, and Juko'Moikue was taken from them, and they were beaten to within an inch of their lives.
They were forced to watch as the pride dragged their daughter, wailing and crying, to the rim of the volcano. Her father reached out to her, but one of the guards clawed him, hard, across the face. Juho'Moukue screamed and tried to get him, but the pride took that moment to fling her out into the abyss over the fiery pit.
There was a horrible sound, like nothing they had ever heard, a splash, and that was it. Juho'Moikue's parents collapsed, weeping for their lost child.

Surely, the cub couldn't die. Goddesses and Gods couldn't, or that's what he picked up over the years. But instead of asking, silence was over him to where he was no intently watching the other like a little kid hearing a horror story. Narhari couldn't help it, he just got really into stories at times. He could picture everything that the other had said. Could almost feel the paw across his own face. Yet, he didn't move, nor was it even real.
He'd even had stopped eating without realizing it. Looking rather funny with dried blood all over his white and purple face. But that was the last on his mind. He wanted to know what happened next. "Then what?" He asked.

The pride rejoiced atop the mountain, taunting the mourning parents by jeering 'Oh now you're real members of our pride alright!' and scratching at them. They said 'this is what the Gods want!'
And that's when the mountain began to shake. It was a low rumble at first, then louder, shaking the ground and sending the preening pride toppling off of their feet. They looked up in confusion, the mountain had never reacted to a tribute in this manner before! Then, before their very eyes, a flash of light shot down from the sky and into the volcano.
All went silent.
And then, in an explosion loud enough to wake the dead, the volcano erupted, shooting a pillar of flame into the cloudy sky above. The heat from the fire made the clouds turn to rain, and sizzling drops of boiling water fell down, scalding the pride below, while leaving Juho'Moikue's parents untouched.
Out of the mist of the rain and the fire came the first rainbows, a sign to the parents who had fought so hard for their child that they were not to be blamed. And, wreathed in fire and water, came Juho'Moikue, reborn as the Goddess of Rainbows. And the pride below looked up at her and wept.

"Brilliant story." He spoke finally. Seeing as it was a good spot for an ending. At least to him it was. But there could always be more later. " I'm glad I haven't found any prides like that one." He chuckled then started gnawing on a bone again to get a piece of meat off. His tail curled around his side and bounced upon the ground next to him. He was almost full now. Having not had a big appetite, he felt rather bad about that. He should have caught something a little less big for the both of them. But no matter, something else would eat the rest of it. Being vulture, or some other creature that would become lucky in finding such a mean.
"I thank you for the story, and company for dinner. It's nice not being alone once in a while. " He told the other. Narhari was a very social lion, so being alone for a long period of time really did numbers on him. Of course, he was never really alone, there were the birds, the hares, and all other types of creatures he'd talk to. Of course, they'd give a good space between him and themselves. Wouldn't want to get eaten. He smiled at the other and licked his lips before ripping off his last piece of his meal.

Bombei nodded and breathed easily. There was a little more to be told, but it was all after-thought like material. He was pleased he'd gotten the story hashed together enough to receive a good review, and that was enough for him. "I'm glad you approve. It's the first time I've told that one, it needs some more work, I think." He rolled his mind over how he'd told it, making notes on what to fix, how to do it better next time. He batted a bit of bone around while thinking, eventually gnawing at it before moving on to the meat again. Telling always worked up an appetite in him.
"You're very welcome. I'm always glad to drop in for dinner, as it were. I'm just glad that, so far on this journey, most of the folks I've met have been nothing but kind to me. If you're openly friendly and honest, you can find company anywhere, I've seen. And that's a good thing, for the world."

Narhari didn't see anything wrong with the story, but he was the one who listened to it, not who was telling it. He figured it was something more of a personal thing. You'd always think you need work on stuff you made. Though, Narhari still liked it none the less. "Well, it was beautifully told. I'm sure you'll get many other's pleased with your story." He told him with a smile.
"Indeed it will." he agreed. "No reason to not be kind to others." He nodded. "And when comes kindness, comes other bonuses, such as food, and shelter if needed" Though, he didn't believe that was the only reason to use kindness, it was just a side bonus. He never really thought about getting anything out of being kind, other then seeing others smile. That was enough of a reward to him.

Bombei smiled. He appreciated Narhari's approval, he really did. He let himself lounge a little longer before stretching and letting out a rather comical yawn. He probably should get moving again, now that he'd gotten his stomach full.
"Well it was a pleasure to meet you. I'm glad to help share a meal any time." He grinned and turned to go. "Good luck on your travels! I hope you find anything you're looking for!"
End...?

Narhari nodded to the other. A bit sad that their encounter had ended for now. But there was always next time. Perhaps not that they'd meet again in person, but in spirit down the road he knew it would. He said his good bye's, took one last look at the dead carcass, knowing by morning something would have already devoured most of it. At that he smiled.
He moved slowly away from the carcass and the other male lion. Faded blood stain upon his face, telling everyone he had just ate. Though, he really did need to find somewhere to get it off his face. He hated when his white face was all pinkish, brownish or any other bloody color.
