I personally don't have to take it, which is very, very good because I've heard the terrible stories from my friends.

I have to take it this year... Not very excited about that. But I personally don't think kids should be tested at all. I know that testing is supposed to show how much you know, but some people are not very good testers. I for one, am not very good at testing, though all of my grades are A's and B's until i hit a test. Some students just can't hold the information they need for testing, where as others are great at testing. So maybe they need to find another way to see how much we know.

Thee Washington Assessment of Student Learning....my teachers used to call it the "Walrus" XD
I've never thought it was so bad, but I always score pretty well on it....thought it was weird that I got a perfect writing score, but did worse on reading than on Math XP I hate math....

The WASL sucks. Just last year I finally passed the math. And I passed the reading and science easily. I'm thinking of taking the reading this year [freshman] The WASL really is a waste of time though.

Man, it was great, my graduating class didn't have to pass it to graduate, but the ones after that had too. I was laughing all the way to graduation. Am I an a*****e? xd

I'm lucky that I'm part of the graduating class of '09. I passed all the sections except for the math, both sophomore and junior year... It mostly has to do with test anxiety. I'm perfectly fine with reading, writing, and even science (oddly enough), but I tend to panic with math tests. My failed attempts also have to do with my gaps in math. I've missed probably the total of 2-3 years of schooling due to kidney stone hospitalizations; although, I'm at my grade level in all areas smile
Junior year, however, I didn't even try to pass the math portion! I figured that it wasn't worth it since it's not required for me to graduate--all I had to do was sit for it. But now I have to take a full credit of math my senior year (which is otherwise not required)... Yet, my school doesn't do much to help those who've failed. I opted to take "Segmented Math" (a class for those who didn't pass the WASL) to make the year a bit easier for me, but it's actually frustrating. During the first semester, the teacher I had didn't even teach math. In fact, she didn't teach at all. (She's actually the English teacher for the ESL students). I just learned that the teacher I have this semester doesn't even have a degree in math, yet teaches it... confused
I didn't have to sit in this year due to some more changes in the system, but I don't think students' graduation should be part of the passing or failing.
I'd just like to see my school try a bit more to help students improve their math skills.

Anyone remember those two students from Snohomish area who were running a WASL protest website?
Yeah, that was me. (: And my best friend at the time. Hah. WASL sucks.

I passed all of them first try. Maxed out on my writing score(24 iirc) as well as reading. Had an above average for the math(there was one question in particular I remember, it was a leaf-stem plot, and asked me to graph something. I had never even learned what a leaf-stem plot was, and I was in pre-calc at the time) Science, I had far above the average mark.
It's honestly not hard to pass it, so I don't see why people complain about it as a graduation requirement. I personally think it's a good thing that it's a requirement, and I'd actually like to see it be harder.

I passed my WASL test but, it should be banned. I mean it's just a way to see how smart we are and when the dreadful day comes you get all nervous, sweaty, and forget everything you know. It actually makes us seem stupid. That's not really what the god damn test is about.

I passed all the parts and only missed 7 questions for the whole thing. Scared the pants off all the teachers. ^^ Also I didn't have to write anything down. I got a teacher to write for me. Still my answers I just wasn't the one writing them.
