It could be interesting, but what would the story be? The world has fallen into the hand of Sir Trollalot and his minions of noobs, it is up to the VG Paladins to save the world from this terrible fate!
I could help, like designing map, since I've been using 2000 for some time, and theres not much difference between 2000 and 2003.

Actually, that's almost exactally what I was thinking. And the bosses would be the stuff we fight against (for example, one boss would be Halo's Master Chief, considering the amount of Halo threads, another would be Cloud, on the misplaced FF threads, etc.)

Well, if you're willing to wait a while, the way I'm planning the system for Crescent Legends, it will be possible to make other games using it, too. The combat system would be harder to override, and you'd need to know Java, (well, maybe just a little, actually--it would mostly be putting stuff into documents in the format it wants, and the instructions would be included) but you wouldn't have restrictions like RPG maker has. The only restrictions are what I say, and I can change those, too. wink

Well, I could wait, but I have no way to learn Java, cause I don't have any books on it, nor have been able to find any tutorials that aren't turd on the net. But, if you could point me to a place that would teach my enough to know what the hell I'm doing, I'm interested for sure.

Actually, now that I've thought about it more, you probably wouldn't ever need to touch Java... It'd be like its own little language....

Basically, you'd have a bunch of files telling it what to do. Things like (all to be done by the person making the adventure-thingy)
  • Files for inputting information to customize stuff for different characters (name, class, stats, special ability things, etc.)
  • Files for maps
  • Files for images
  • Files that list sequences of images to make animations
  • Files to choreograph dialogs and what characters do
  • Files for battle/enemy information
  • And "One file to rule them all" with a list of all the others (I don't know how to get all of the files in a directory with Java, so this'll do for now)

These would all be done from notepad in a format given in the documentation, so it would be a bit to learn, but not nearly so much as Java.

That's actually the best explanation I've written yet... *Sends to Crescent Legends crew* There we go.

If you do do this, I'll help giving ideas for the story and what not. o_o Say the VGP has been so successful, they decided to venture further into Gaia to assist many other forums as well. But while the VGP would be fighting against common misplaced threads and trolls, back in the Videogame Discussions forum, Sephiroth escapes from the Final Fantasy forum, and causes trouble in the Videogame Discussions forum. And.. there can be this one, stubborn newb who keeps coming back and stuff.. o_o And.. yeah.

.. I think I should work on the story for Crescent Legends before I work on this though. >_<

That's even better xd . Though, I'd need a little help making him look like an idiot/evil genius (yeah, I dunno how that's not an oxymoron either) cause he happens to be one of my favorite FF characters. I even cosplayed as him. sweatdrop

would we be able to play this if it ever comes to fruition?

That we would. While you usually need RPG Maker 2003 to play the games made by it, I know how to take the lines of code out that require it, so that it can be played without it. I'd just need a place to host the file, which would probably be pretty big. sweatdrop So, sorry 56k users, but you're going to have alot of time to kill while waiting for it to download.

Well, that doesn't sound too different from RPG Maker then. I'm interested, for sure.

Guess there's not too much interest in this...

That would be so cool! I can make my sprites in a matter of minutes.

I'd certainly be interested, but the system is still kinda in the planning/beginning to code stages.
