"I don't mind at all. Seems to be the first question most people seem to ask." She took a careful sip from her tea, trying not to giggle when she saw him almost burn himself. "I'm from Egypt."

Riley eyed his drumsticks. "So, you're a drummer?" she asked, trying not to sound as dumb as she felt. Who knew, he could just like carrying them around.

(XD Wow. Slightly confused myself, but I think I can figure out what's happening. Riley and Brody are talking, so now Bret and Oz are sitting together. Should we just go from there?)

"Is it that obvious?" He asked as he looked back down to the sticks that were slightly hanging out of the bag. He picked up the large muffin and took a piece off of the top and threw it into his mouth. "I'm not apart of a band, and I really don't have a drum set. I just like hitting stuff." He laughed a little. He was really being modest. It was true that he wasn't in a band, but he was a much better player than he gave himself credit for.

How about you?" He asked, eying her apparel. "Do you have any hobbies?"

Recks had long since tossed away the piece of paper he had been writing down his delusional home-sick woes on. Now the blonde was settling in quite well, and was even begining to perk up. Well, perhaps he was a bit lonely. He had a new song now, though -- a little reflection on how these first few months were treating the young musician.
Recks sat with a cup of coffee in one hand, and a pencil in the other as he went over his sheet of loose-leaf notebook paper, perfecting his new song.

Tryin' to remember where I was before,
and where I am now --
Sittin' lonely trying to stay alive.
Driftin' head above water in a sea of people.

And I believe
Somewhere in the past I left behind someone
But I can't see
who he was anymore.
The me I left behind.

Tuesday came and went as quicker than expected
Didn't notice how fast the time goes by.
Y'know I think there's something I've been negleting
Som'thin' like the me I left behind.

And I believe
It's just a matter of time till I remember
But I can't see
why.
The me I left behind.

You're back on some other Cali shore,
I'm stuck in the ocean again.
Gripin' my guitar like a life line,
tryin' to spot the shore.

Driftin' in the sea of a future,
too busy to look back
and reclaim,
The me I left behind.

And I believe
Let the tide die down and there you'll find
but I can't see
till the storm dies down.

The me I left behind.

The boy really did feel as if he were driftin' in the sea. The shore wasn't in sight yet, but he knew it was out there. It was this optomistic look that made Recks who he was. He was always there with a smile, and innocent, naive, encouragement.
Recks ran a hand through his long, curly, blonde hair, blue eyes looking down on his semi-finished project, and he smiled before taking a sip of the, now cold, coffee. It was now that he notices the others in the coffee house. He smiled, recognising a face or two, but decided to keep to himself. True 'nuff, he needed to make a few aquaintences, but the boy was still gettin' over a bit of a shy spell.

((Man, Recks is smexy))

Riley couldn't help but giggling. "Just like hitting stuff? I hope you don't hit things that will say 'ouch'?" she asked, grinning. She tilted her head a little, studying him."Well, no...I guess it's not too obvious. Just, you had that feel, you know? When you're so into something, there's a different sort of air about a person. Even if you're not good at it." Here, she blushed. "I mean! I'm not saying you're bad! What I mean is...uhh..."

She sighed and put her hand to her forehead. She was an idiot sometimes.

Without looking up, she kicked her foot out from under her skirts, revealiing a worn, pink ballet shoe.

"Just one hobby."

Bret watched, surprised as Riley excused herself to talk with a guy who had walked in, leaving her to answer this other man. She had to say, she felt a bit put off, but she envied Riley's ability to so easily speak to strangers. She would never have been able to do that.

But to the task at hand. Hands clamped around her coffee, she smiled nervously up at the man standing near her table.
"Uh... hi. I guess I can't really say for my friend there, but you're welcome to sit."

She prayed that her cheeks weren't bright red, but doubted that they weren't. Hoping to shake her nerves away, she casually glanced around the room, her gaze falling on a blond young man writing on a piece of paper. He looked up and glanced around the room, and for a moment, Bret felt that he was maybe feeling the same way she was. She smiled to herself and stared at her coffee, praying that the man standing near her would start up a conversation.

Oh but the other girl, with the shorter hair, her leaving only offered Oz a chance at the other one. His focus could be on one girl now, he wouldnt have to decide which to chat up..

"Well, Thanks."
He said, pulling the seat out, and sitting in it, and placing his hands on the table.
Stretching one arm out towards her, he smiled.

"My names Oz, Oz Parker."
He said, not offering upthat he had been in a movie and was the main character to a Soap Opera. He figured if it mattered she would recognize him.

He gave her a smile, watching her face turn red. She was cute, and when she blushed, it just made him smile.

"I promise I dont bite."

Bret shook his hand firmly, despite her nerves. Her parents had always told her that a good handshake meant a lot. She smiled lightly and tucked her hair behind her ear, a nervous habit.

"Nice to meet you Oz. I'm Bret. Bret Andrews."

She smiled again and chuckled lightly at his joke, hoping it didn't come out sounding nervous or fake.

"Yes, well, that's good."

She stared at her food for a second, trying to think of something, anything to say.

"Er, lovely weather out there, huh?"

Well, it was a start.

He nodded with a smile.

"Pleasure to meet you,Bret."
He said with a grin, shaking her hand firmly, et somewhat gently.

He wasnt always a jerk..In fact he could be quite the charmer, and a true friend..You just had to put up with him for that long.

When she started talking about the weather, he smiled.

"Yes, its been very nice out.."
He didnt let the conversation get awkward, beforehe started asking her about herself.

"So what are you doing this fine day?"

He laughed lightly, "It's cool, sometimes even I don't think I'm that good."

He took another piece of the muffin on the table and offered some to Riley as he popped the piece into his mouth.

Brodi saw the worn shoe and laughed a little. "Seems like a little more than a hobby." He said as he also noted her flexibility.

"Hobby, obsession. Whichever. It pretty much all means the same thing, doesn't it?"

She took a piece of theoffered muffin and put it in her mouth, chewing slowly, as if she was afraid the thiny bit of carbs would suddenly make her gain weight.

"Thank you," Riley said, smiling. "So what do you do, you know, for a job, if you hitting stuff is just a hobby?"

Bret grinned, glad that Oz had taken control of the conversation, even if it was about her. She could deal with that.

She shrugged and ran her fingers through her auburn hair.
"Oh, not much, really. I got a practice in early this morning and now I just figured I'd explore the city."

She then realized he would likely have no idea what she was talking about. Mentally kicking herself, she continued.
"Uh, I'm a dancer and choreographer, you see. So I like to practice every morning. And I'm relatively new to the city, so I haven't seen much."

Smooth, Bret. Smooth.

"What about you? Any plans for this fine afternoon?"

He laughed lightly and thought about her question for a moment. "I've had a few gigs, playing with some random bands that needed a drummer at the last minute, but my passion is voice acting." He said and laughed a little in embarrassment. "I haven't really gotten a job in it though, but I've been practicing a little." He sat up straight, "I can come up with a variety of voices."

"How about you Riley?" He asked as he leaned forward and folded his arms on the table, "You own a ballet studio?" He didn't know much about dancing, but growing up with four younger sisters rubbed off on him a little.

"Voice acting? That's a bit of a different direction, isn't it?" She thought. That could be fun. You wouldn't be seen, but then you'd have to put more expression into it, because they couldn't see you...

Riley shook her head and chuckled. "No, no. I don't own a studio. I'm just starting out. Maybe someday, though. That would be nice." She crossed one leg over the other and sat up a little in her chair. "Some day I might not be able to dance, though, so I should get famous now and reap the benifits of it later."
