Murdoc smiled, though it was an awkward, sheepish expression. It was rare that he truely smiled out of happiness... Usually it was more of a fake coy look. But now he was happy, content that he had done something right to impress her.
"Ah... glad you liked it, really..." Shifted, glancing away. "I really spent a while on it, and all..." Cleared his throat, looking back at her. When her smile faded his did, ears tilting back. "Eehh... Sorry... Ah, just, you looked upset for a moment. I, uh... Didn't want to do that. Sorry if I did."
He paused for a moment, looking away from her. What kind of a male was he turning into...? He never apologized, for anything! Surely he was always right... But around her he was just a nervous wreck, and was... honest. That wasn't how men were suppose to act though... They were suppose to be hard and tough, and never weak. He straitened and held his head higher, grinning lop-sidedly.
"Of course you'd like it. My god-like self wrote it, after all."

"Oh." She huffed, glancing away. Did he have a personality disorder? Half the time he was nice, and the out half he was cocky. Like every male Jo met, eager to appear as sure of himself as possible. She knew her sister's mate well, and he seemed to be the only decent male in the whole Savannah. Joking, calm, easy going, she almost envied her, even though her sister did not possess the voice Jo was gifted with.
"Your 'god like self'? I don't see any wings." She taunted, a hint of sarcasm in her voice.
"But what do I know." She shifted her weight from side to side awkwardly, wondering if that had been entirely appropriate. That was, after all, his personality. He couldn't change that.
"Sorry, I didn't mean that to be rude if it came off that way." She forced a smile, and nodded.

He frowned again, ears pressing back. "I... wait..." She had been so happy before, but now she seemed annoyed. What had he done now? The poor lion was so confused and afraid of her leaving that he wanted to just curl up his side like a baby.
He'd never been this unsure of himself, and it was really starting to freak him out.
"No... no wings... sorry... I guess I'm not really god like, heh." He glanced away, frowning. "Just wanted to impress you."

"Oh..." She repeated, but not as harsh. Her featured softened a bit into another smile.
"Well that's sweet of you to admit." Jo giggled quietly, recalling how most males didn't like to confess to that sort of thing. He really did have some sort of personality disorder. But, Jo liked when he acted this way. It seemed to go back and forth.
"But I'm usually impressed when you don't try to impress me." She explained, delicately standing up from her seat on the wet grass and walking towards the rain. Gingerly, she poked a paw out into the rain, liking the she could feel each one drop.
"Don't you like the rain?" She asked suddenly, looking back at Murdoc.

Murdoc blinked, a brow lifting slightly. She liked him when he acted weak and emotional? But... that wasn't how it was suppose to be! Women were suppose to be won over with manliness and strength. At least, that was how he had been taught. Even though this revelation made his head hurt, he wanted to make Jo happy...
"So, uh... I shouldn't try to impress you then...?" Frowned. If he wasn't trying to impress, what else could he possibly do with her? What would they talk about? Luckily, she provided him with a topic. Doc glanced up at her, ears twitching. "The rain?" His mismatched eyes scanned out over the dark horizion, watching the rain fall. "Eh.. yeah, sometimes... I like watching it, anyway..."
She could sense his confusion, and sighed quietly. Either all the women Murdoc had met had been mindless air heads, or he'd never met a woman. Jo liked to believe all women were as strong as independent as she, or she just liked to believe she was strong and independent.
"No. You should not, I'm most impressed by males who impress me by not impressing me. Er...wait....did that make sense?"
She struggled with the words, something the cheetah was not used to. Jo had a rich vocabulary, and rarely stumbled. She was thankful for the topic switch, glad she had made the comment about the rain. It was getting rather awkward, talking about impressing her.
"Just watching it?" She questioned, stunned for a moment. "Don't you like getting wet?"
The dense cheetah's headache was only getting worse. How in the world could he possibly impress her by not impressing her? Women were not supposed to be this confusing, surely... He sighed softly and let the subject go, for fear of breaking something in his thick skull. Besides, she didn't seem to want to speak about it anyway... Maybe he should just give up. That made him frown slightly, but he shook the look away before he glanced back at her.
"Uh... no. Not really... I usually try to avoid it..." Well, that was fairly obvious by the vast amounts of dirt and who knows what caked into his fur.
She probably hadn't mean to bring this topic up, and grimaced. Jo was happy to not be so close to him, the smell somewhat sickening. He probably didn't even realize or notice it, but Jo did. The Cheetah's flawlessly clean coat glimmered compared to his. But she couldn't blame him. Again, he probably didn't notice.
"Well...I like it. It feels nice." She said with a smile, stepping out once again into the rain. Her dry coat slowly began to dampen, and she jokingly splashed one paw in a puddle. Of course, she immediately cleaned it after.
"Doesn't it seem strange? It was so hot earlier, I'm happy with the change in weather. The closer to winter, the better. The heat does no favors for me voice." She explained, nodding.
He just sat there watching her. He couldn't help but stare... She really was pretty, especially when the rain made her fur look even glossier. The male's mind wandered for a few moments, but was snapped back when she mentioned the weather. "Ah... yeah... I do agree with that. I like that it makes it cooler..."
Murdoc stared at a puddle in front of him, shifting forward to look down into it. His head tilted, observing his murky rippling reflection. He wasn't no where near as attractive as Jo. But he shrugged it off. It was just because she was a girl, and he was a boy. Boys were suppose to be dirty.
However, he dared to step forward out of the tree's safety. He flinched as large drops tumbled down over his body, mud starting to run down his fur. "Eeh..." But he was determined to try it, at least... Even if it caused him discomfort.

Jo, although preoccupided with the rain and her ramblings about the weather, didn't miss the fact he was watching her. She was flattered by it, really. She had been told once before she was pretty, but it was by that dreadful boy her mother intended her to be married away to years ago. That was the reason she had left her family and pride in the first place, the boy was dull and boring and she was expected to love him. A shiver ran up her spine.
Smiling, she turned to look back at him, to look eye to eye. He really was handsome, if you looked past the dirt and grim. And he seemed willing enough to stop acting so cocky and sure of himself.
"Cold is always a nice..." She trailed off, beginning to feel uncomfortable with the topic. Did he not like talking about weather? Jo had been taught small talk by her mother, but it didn't seem to apply to Murdoc. Then again, he wasn't exactly the sort of high class male her mother would have wanted Jo to hang around. None the less, she was very pleased to have met him.
"What do you want to talk about? Weather is a boring subject anyway."
Doc stood in the rain, though he fidgeted slightly every few moments. He looked a bit thinner wet, but at least all that dirt was slowly washing away. Even though he was slightly miserable, he couldn't help but smile. He actually liked her like this, actually... talking. Again, it was an odd but not unpleasant change from his usual meetings with women. Who pretty much just ignored him.
"Ah... uh... I don't know..." He shifted a bit more, scrawny legs readjusting themselves. As she assumed, he wasn't good with small talk. "...We could talk about you some more."
Jo was pleased at the fact he stood his ground in the rain, feeling a rush of thankfulness as the dirt was washed away. However, her ears pressed back against her head.
"Me? Are you sure, you didn't seem very interested last time." She said slowly, careful not to say anything rude.
"We could talk about you. Do you have any family? Or close friends?" She was eager to learn more about him, seizing the chance to drill him with questions. Her mother would have told her this eagerness was not appealing and could be taken the wrong way, but she doubted Murdoc would say anything.
His ears pressed back when the subject was twisted around onto him. The discomfort from the rain was quickly forgotten when the anxiety of talking about his past was brought up. Murdoc cleared his throat and glanced to the side, then back, then to the side again.
"I'm... really not terribly interesting..." He sat down heavily, evidently deciding that he'd stay in the rain. Nerviously, he looked down at his paw and shook away a glob of wet earth. "But I'll tell ya, if you really wanna know... Ain't got friends really. I got..." He paused, thinking. "Well, at least I did have a dad. Don't know if he'd alive or not, really."

"Oh..." She mumbled, glancing away.
"If it's a touchy subject, I won't badger you, but I'd like to know? You seem like a very interesting person." She grinned in encouragement, plopping herself down as well.
Should she have not asked? No...she wanted to know. And it was only fair, after all she had told him about her past. Then again...she had told him willingly.
He rubbed his front legs together awkwardly, looking away still. "Er. Okay." After sitting there for a moment and thinking, he glanced back at her. "It really ain't all that interestin' though... Heh... Well, my mom died when I was just a small cub. Left us with my dad." It was obvious by his tone that he didn't think too highly of the guy. "Not too great of a guy, really. My brother and sister ended up like mom. Guess they didn't do well without her." He shrugged, trying to pass it off as not that big of a deal. "I left whenever I was big enough to hunt for myself. Just been roaming around since then... really... not that interesting..."
He cleared his throat, frowning at her slightly. "Sorry. I could come up with a better story, but figured ya'd like the truth."

19:01:40I say: Awkwardness captured the moment again. With any other person, she might have gone up and touched nosed with them, or nudged them encouragingly. That was what her mother had taught her to do when someone was grieving or had loss something dear to them. But...he didn't seem all that sad, and she wasn't sure he would have liked her doing that anyway. He seemed like the type that wanted space, but she did scoot a little closer.
"I'm not sure what happened to my parents and siblings. Once I ran off, I doubted I would be welcomed with open arms again. They were so angry...I was there ticket to a life of Nobel living." She shrugged, glancing down at her paws.
"I wasn't even a daughter to them anyway, I was a possession. It was...a trapped sort of feeling." Suddenly, she frowned. "Am I being boring?"
He listened, equally as awkwardly. Mismatched eyes reguarded her with anxious curiousity. As she continued the anxiousness faded away to sympathy, and he frowned. Likewise, he shifted inches closer, but no more. He glanced down at his paws, which shifted slightly. In reply to her question... "No..." He started, clearing his throat deeply.
"Really... I think you're rather interesting. Er, which... is saying something. Cause I never really found a girl interestin', other than to look at." He said this softly, looking away from her almost shyly. His tail twitched slightly in the rain, his fur now clean, but completely soaked with rain.
She smiles, almost blushing.
"That really is sweet, Murdoc. I'd rather be interesting then pretty."
No, that wasn't entirely true and Jo knew it. Half the time the only reason she was interesting was because she was nice to look at. She was vein, there was no doubt in that, but she did wonder what it was like sometimes. What it was like to be average. Jo had talk to her sister about it once, and she had seemed very angry. 'It doesn't matter how pretty you are, you are stuck up and arrogant and that ugliness covers all your prettiness!' She remembered the exact words because she had told her parents and they had punished her sister by making her leave the pride for a whole month.
Jo liked to think she had grown more humble, or at least lost her arrogance.
"You fur looks better." She commented with a giggle, lifting a paw to motion to his coat. She had noticed how he fought to stay in the rain. She had also noticed how she could sit near him now without feeling sick.
"See? The rains so nice."
"Ah... well... you're both, ya know... all... equally... both." He cleared his throat again, as if he had something lodged in it. Eyes flickered back to her, the pupil of his pink eye a bit more dialated than the other one. A lop sided smile crossed his maw, revealing the yellowed teeth.
"Really?" Then he paused and looked down at himself, raising a paw to inspect his arm. "Did... it look bad before? It just looks wet now, I'd think it's look worse..."
"Haha, I really do hope I am. But sometimes people say things to make others happy."
She grinned and smiled, but quickly shook her head. "I'm not referring to you, though." She gave a curt nod.
Well, to Jo it was quite an improvement from the smell, but she would never say that.
"Well, were both wet, so I think it looks nice. Looks...." She thought for a moment, choosing her words carefully. "Fresh."

"Ah..." He nodded, looking back to her as his paw lowered back to the ground. "I see, I guess..." He paused, watching her anxiously while the fur on the back of his neck stood on end. "But... me saying that does make you happy, right?" Asking that didn't make it any less true, but for a moment he wondered if she'd rather him not flatter her...
He nodded again then, looking over her wet form. "Yes... well, wet looks good on you, so I guess it can't look horrible on me..."
"Of course!" She answered quickly, almost too eagerly. Glancing away in embarrassment, she nodded.
"I mean, yes, it does." Jo had begun to notice the lightening of the rain, and her ears perked.
"Guess you won't have to worry about the 'wet look' much longer." She mumbled sourly, huffing. Quietly, she rose for her seat and bent down to stretch her stiff legs.
"I like talking to you, Murdoc." She said grinning. "I hope you don't mind my popping in. Two times now I've stolen your tree."
He frowned slightly when she seemed to be about to leave. He almost protested and begged her to stay, but that would seem weak he thought. And weak was surely not attractive, and she'd just leave anyway. "I guess I don't." Doc glanced up at the drying sky, blinking when a large drop landed on his nose. He shooke his head and looked back to her. He wished now that it'd continue raining, if only to make her stay... He'd live in it if he had to.
"I... would not mind that at all. I would like it, really... I'll stay in the area, around this tree. So you can find me better."
I hope you won't regret saying that, I'll be a frequent visitor." In truth, Jo hadn't been looking forward to leaving either. He was easy to get along with and very sweet. Besides, he seemed to like her? Or so Jo hoped. However, her mothers rules had become embedded in her. It was rude to stay too long, or you became a pest rather then a guest.
"I promise to come back." She said quietly, flashing a full set of white teeth as she smiled. Jo likes him, a lot more then she liked other males. A lot more then she probably should after only two meets.
"Good bye!" She flicked her tail, letting it briefly touch his back as she took her leave.
