Zave sighed inwardly at the news that there wasn't a copy machine in a facility like this. Normally he would have assumed that Dr. Kyou and Dr. Tsu were living in the dark ages, but reality was Dr. Tsu was a freeloader and Dr. Kyou had a lot on his hands with orchestrating the rebuilding of the labs. That probably wasn't a cheap task.
"Hmmm... well... the copy machine might hurt the book too I guess. I don't know how strong the binding is after all. Still... this is a LOT to copy, isn't it?" Zave was looking at the pages of the spell... including the notes to remember for when performing the summon not to cause the spell to backfire or to create a completely different summon circle, as well as the best times to summon, and the ideal ingredients to use in the ritual.
"Welll... I guess we can split up the work?" Zave finally decided. It wouldn't be fair for one of them to take on all this hand cramping work. "Which would you rather do? Draw out the summoning circle and runes to the proper details? Or else it's copy down the notes and the items I need to use for the ritual." Both required an attention to details, but at least if one knew the ways to shorthand, the notes would be a bit easier to work out.

Flipping the few pages of the book, Lazarus had to agree with Zave, that is a lot of information to take down. He's starting to wish that there was a copy machine here somewhere, but he knew for a fact that Kyou couldn't even afford a new computer yet. Still taking down notes and records with the traditional pen and paper. Then again, Kyou wasn't always a tech savvy person.
"Splitting the work sounds good." he nodded, looking over the information to take down. Hesitation took over though when he was prompted to choose either one to do. His drawing skills are close to none, and his handwriting is like a 10 year old's. Or so says Kyou. "Uhm, I think... I'll take the writing part..." Figuring that the summoning circle and details of the runes are more crucial for the summon than the information. He don't want to screw up Zave's work just because he drew it wrongly. "I just hope you don't mind my chicken scratch handwriting." he chuckled a little nervously as he grabbed a pen and paper and started to take down the information.
"So, what do you think you will see when you summoned the maelstrom?" he asked tentatively, the process looked really complicated from the book.

Zavier frowned a little, partly at the daunting task of copying down the proper runic circle, but also partly at the question Lazarus had just posed to him. He was unsure of who to expect from the ritual anyway. Still, Laz did deserve an honest answer, so he decided to go the straightforward route.
"I honestly don't know what to expect at all when summoning a maelstrom. Hopefully more than just a big storm, as the oracle said my questions would be answered." Zave thought again for a minute, "Is this foolish of me? To want to find out more, even if I don't know what will come with it? Am I doing the right thing here?" Sure no one had the answer to that, but Zave was looking for a little reassurance about his decisions in the silence that followed.
Pausing a moment and letting the pen rest on the pad of paper Zave continued"I guess... I'd like to see my 'dad' or something." Zave answered with a flush to his face. "'family' is such an odd concept, that I want to know what my previous family and life was like. Also, if I'm still missed." Those were some of the things that haunted him the most. Why hadn't people come searching for him? Was there something wrong?
Shaking his head to chase away the doubts, Zave continued copying the runes onto a piece of paper. For the most part it was simple enough. 5 elemental runes, placed into a circle. However, although it had seemed simple, copying down the proper runes and trying to understand their meaning was a lot more difficult. Not to mention another question echoed in the back of his mind. "Hey Laz, do you think there is an order to all of this? Like, do I have to put fire in the north or something like that?" Zave had heard of painful consequences for messing up summoning spells before, and didn't want to risk becoming something like a pile of ash. Not to mention there was still another important question that was nagging at him. Where exactly am I supposed to be in this circle?!?

The conversation about Zave's dream reminded him of his recurring dream before he turned into a Sigel. Strangely, he haven't had that dream in a while. Then again, Lazarus haven't shut his eyes much since that period, in fear that it will haunt him again. Thankfully, their bodies make this process easier compared with regular human.
"I think... just follow your gut feeling? If you think that you will find out more about yourself through this summon, just go ahead and do it." Lazarus said, finishing the first paragraph. "If the dream keeps haunting you..." he paused for a moment, the images from his past dreams surfacing up in his mind. "...chances are, it is related to your past life after all."
He does however, understand Zave's craving for a father though. Tsu is not a good father figure at all. Lazarus found himself secretly praying that Tsu will never have kids. "I'm sure you would be missed by someone." he reassured Zave. "After all, it would require a good soul for such a good natured Raevan as you." he complimented, averting his gaze from Zave and pretend to look through the paragraph he's copying.
Skimming through the paragraphs, he found the answer to Zave's question. "Don't worry, they listed where to place the items exactly here. And also where it should be facing... apparently, the wind is supposed to be in the north." he said, studying the text. Zave sure will have a lot of work to do. He thought quietly as he continue to copy down the instructions.

Zave could tell that Laz was trying hard to cheer him up, and so he put on a smile and continued about his work. "Thanks for that Laz." was all he mentioned, but not if it was in relation to the way Laz tried to cheer him up or the information he was given about the locations to place the wind element on the pentagram. Finally copying the top half of the runes for the pentagram, Zave went to work at the bottom half of the pentagram. Since the book had a compass pointing which way was north, Zave made a small note on the sheet where the wind icon was to be placed. That just left the East, Southeast, Southwest and West points.
"Copying these runes are a lot trickier than I thought they'd be. I have some newfound respect for Dr. Kyou and being able to deal with all of this. And the fact that Tsu managed to summon ANYTHING is nothing short of a miracle." Zave muttered aloud in frustration at that difficulty of this spell. Although trying to bring the gods back to a world should have to be pretty hard. Else there would be all sorts of problems if people could bring about whatever they wanted. "By the way... Where would I stand? Would I be the one in the north, since I guess... I'm technically a wind based magical object....." Zave was flipping the pen around one of his fingers in thought... unaware that a line was being drawn on his cheek from contact.

So is copying these long paragraphs. Lazarus found himself thinking when Zavier mentioned about his difficulties copying runes. He let out a sigh as he finishes off the sixth paragraph, two more to go! This is probably the most he had written in his whole life up until now.
"Uhm... let me check." Lazarus bit on the end of his pencil as he skimmed back up the paragraphs he just copied. He swore it was mentioned in one of the earlier paragraphs. "Oh, right here! It says the summoner should be standing in the middle of the pentagram, exactly the same distance from all the items. 'And then, the storm will dawn upon you.'" Lazarus quoted directly from the book. "Interesting." Truth to be told, the whole ordeal seems a little dangerous. He wondered if Zave would like some help, because he would willingly do so. But ultimately, he will respect Zave's decision, whatever it is. Taking his eyes off of the book, he took a moment to look at Zave in concern.
And then he saw it.
For a moment there, he just forgotten about his worries temporarily as he saw the line on Zave's face. "Zave, your face..." he started, pointing at his own right cheek, an amused smile cracking on his lips. "Just now, with the pen." he couldn't help but let out a small chuckle.

Zave was still processing what Lazarus had told him about where he had to stand. Being in the middle of the pentagram would probably be the most dangerous, as that would be the first place struck by magic. Even if it would be his "eye" of the storm... it still probably wasn't the best place for someone to be floating... especially if the power overwhelmed him. Still... asking for help was really out of the question. He had realized this would have to be near a body of water if it was going to be a maelstrom - a giant whirlpool essentially - along with the tempest. The waves from that would probably put any one else in danger as well... and Zave couldn't have that. Still, there was still one thing bothering him about the summoning.
"Lazarus, I know you've done so much to help me, but I have one more favor to ask. I'll need your help in finding something fire based to use for the summoning." His words finally seemed to settle the issues churning in the back of his head, Zave finally realized Laz was pointing at his cheek and chuckling a little. Mirroring, Zave pointed to his left cheek with a quizzical expression on his face. "There's something on this cheek? But I'm right hand....oh."
Zave placed a hand on his right hand cheek to feel the lines of wet ink still there. Just sitting there and rubbing at it managed to leave a smear of ink on Zave's face instead. Giving a sheepish grin Zave managed to say, "I'll be right back. Gotta wash my face." Floating over to the sink, Zave splashed some warm water on his face and studied the reflection in the mirror as he began to rub at the remains of the pigmentation. Looking in his reflection, but speaking to Laz he said, "C'mon, don't tell me you've never done something like that before."

"Nope. I haven't done that before." he smirked, and that was the honest truth. He doesn't interact with a pen enough to had done something like that.
While Zavier was cleaning up the ink on his face though, Lazarus was giving thought to the request Zave presented to him just now. He is a fire Raevan, so it would only be logical if he provide the fire based item. But what should he give? And how? He thought as he continue to finish off the copying work on the paragraphs. That took long enough.
Putting down the pen, he stretched his arms backwards, cracking the joints as he did so. His wings flared out behind him, extending them to their fullest before withdrawing back into a more relaxed position swiftly. That was when he heard it, a very faint ringing sound. Stretching his right wing forward, he realized that the soft sound came from the golden loop on his wing. That's it!!
"Zave, I think I know what I could give you." he said as he tugged at the golden ring, damn thing don't have an opening. Grunting a little in pain, he pulled the ring off his wing with a hard tug. His wing's web tore out as he did so. The ring was with him all this while, so it should contain some of his powers already by itself. But still, Lazarus held the ring in his hands as he conjured some flames from the palm of his hand, burning the ring in the center of it. The golden loop was burning a bright red when he was done. "Here, take this ring. It should be adequate enough as the fire based item." he said, holding the ring out to Zave. The ring slowly cooled down, the red dimming and fading back into a bright gold. "Be careful though, it might still be a little hot."

The towel that was in Zave's had was all but forgotten as soon as he saw what Laz was doing. There was a mix of horror and fascination in his face as Laz began to tug at the golden ring that was in the webbing of his wing for as long as Zave had known the fire Frei. As the webbing of the wing tore... Zave could barely say anything. After all... Laz did this for him after doing so much already! He owed Laz so much for this.
"Thank you so much..." Zave started slowly, his mouth felt like cotton for some reason. "... but is it really to do this? What if that tear in your wing gets bigger as you get bigger? It'll all be my fault!" He looked from the golden ring that was still glowing a bright red from the tempering it just underwent to Laz's wing and back again.
Finally steeling himself, Zave reached out to pick up the ring. Before he could even touch it though, he felt the heat of the metal and cautiously pulled his hand back. Noticing the towel on the ground finally, Zave picked it up and got it damp before trying to handle the ring again. The sound of steam could be heard from under the cloth as water touched the gold. After a few minutes of sizzling and sputtering, the heat of the ring finally faded and it could be held normally.
Gazing at the golden band with the swirls of energy around it, Zave knew this would be the perfect artifact for the summoning. Finishing up the last of the runes himself, Zave stretched and pushed away from the table. "I think that should be everything. Thank you so much for your help in all this again." Zave turned to Lazarus. "I hope that your wing heals soon."

"Don't worry about it. It doesn't hurt as much as you think it does." Lazarus said, flexing his wings a little uncomfortably. In truth, it still stings a little bit, but the pain is subsiding as they speak. He wasn't too worried about the tear getting bigger though, Lazarus had always felt like his wings were merely decorations of sorts on his body, extra unneeded limbs. He could float fine without using them. Maybe they'll heal over time or something, if he stitch the webbing together long enough. "You owe me one for the ring though!" he said, smirking.
"So here's the instructions." Lazarus started, stacking the few sheets of paper neatly and handling them to Zave. "And now that you have the fire item, just work on getting the rest. If you need help..." he paused for a moment. "...don't hesitate to ask." Lazarus was about to offer his help, but he knew Zave is the type that would prefer to settle things on his own. Especially when this summoning is quite important to him personally as well. Lazarus could only pray that things work out for Zave.
"Good luck with the summoning."

Zave couldn't help but stare down at the ring once again. Almost as if it were like an ember of fire itself, the ring would glow orange again when he blew lightly against the golden metals. Some how it fascinated him. "Thank you once again. I'll never forget that I owe you a ring!" Zave smiled, unsure how he'd repay Laz for the ring, and hiding the concern for the wing from his face.
Holding the papers and the ring in his hands, Zave ran through the checklist in his head once again, until he finally registered that Laz had offered to help more. "Thanks, but I think this is everything I need. The rest of the items, I have some ideas of people to ask for help with those..." he trailed off, realizing he didn't mean to sound like the help wasn't needed, but unsure how to continue. He just didn't want to be more of a burden than he needed to be.
"Thanks! I'll be fine though. I am tougher than I look after all." Zave smiled and pretended to flex a little, as if showing off muscle. "In any case, I better be getting back. There's a lot to do from here on out, and I don't think that Tsu would appreciate me collapsing again." Zave said with a pained grin, he turned, and gave a small wave before setting out once again to be enveloped by the mugginess.
