Well, it seemed that Meru was going with him one way or another. He didn't think she would like the travels he partook in. Especially since she thought he was joking about cougars. But maybe down the road, she would find that his style of life was not best suited for her. But for now, he could at least protect her from some of those dangers on the road that she wasn't even remotely aware of.

His thoughts were shattered as a cold spray of water caught his right in the face, and he shook himself to try and remove some of it. He smiled at her clutzy way. At least, if anything, she would break up the monotony of his journey for a while. He doubted that any day would be the same with this one around. He chuckled. Alright Meru the Explorer. Let's head towards the ocean then.

"ALRIGHT! TADA LETS GO!!!" Meru twirled, waiting for Albert to lead the way. "What do you want to do when we get there?!" she asked. "I'd like to collect...um...sea-shells? Yeah, that's it! I'll collect seashells, cause they're pretty and awesome like me" ^o^

Albert shook his head amusedly as he walked in the direction he knew the ocean was. Seashells would be nice. You know, there are seashells as big as your head there? Many are the size of your hoof and smaller though. And there are some crabs that can live in them. He had heard about them, though he had never seen one. Of course, he had never really spent much time by the ocean. He preferred the fields and mountains himself.

He kept his gait easy, in a ground-eating stride that could take him a great distance, and not tax his energy to badly. And he was certain that it was an easy enough gait that she could keep up with it as well, without tiring her out. Though, it seemed with all the energy she was already using, she wouldn't last half the day.

Meru followed intently. "Big as my head---" she began, pondering. "My head is big?!" she whined gonk . However the mare quickly forgot about her comment and moved on with the subject. "Crabs...huh...never heard of crabs" she pondered, "But I hope I can find pretty decent sized shiny shells! I like things the sparkle." After a moment of picturing glimmering shells, she turned he head up to Albert. "Soooooooooo--nuff about shells" she giggled, closing one eye and giving off a very devious expression. "You got a girl?! What's her name? And what about kids---I don't know if I'd ever have kids...maybe with the right guy...someone who'd care for them too...but maybe just maaaaaaaybe" she went on giggling, "You have kids? Want kids?"

He laughed. She had startled it out of him. She was a bold little thing. No, I don't have a 'girl'. No, I don't have any children anywhere. The last one took more of a moment to think of an answer. He wasn't sure he wanted to speak of this with a strange mare, but she was really open. So, he decided he would be open with her. Yes, I would like to find a female companions and have children one day. Though it will be hard to find one.

"How hard can it be? You get to know someone, right? Then you get to like them...then you tell them you like them. You spend more time together and the voila`! You fall deeply in love, stay with them and maybe even have kids!" Meru explained, "Honestly, not that hard. Long...complicated maybe. But not 'hard.' She laughed. "I don't have anyone either and obviously no kids" she added kind of awkwardly. "I don't think it'll be to difficult to snag me a man" she smiled heart "someone tall, handsome, kind and smart. Warm hearted, dedicated, gentle. Fun loving!..." she trailed off.

She realized she was looking up a the sky as she stopped and peered back over at Albert. It was then it hit her she was kiiiiiinda describing him with all that too. It brought pink to her face. "Um---nevermind!" she babbled, trying to cover up any awkwardness it might have caused him. "You know...genaric likings...could find in anyone" she rambled, almost biting her tongue in the process.

Albert grinned, one ear flicking back in amusement as he noticed her discomfort at her own verbal stumble. 'Generic likings'? ..... 'could find in anyone'...... I see..... He nodded as though in understanding, though he was trying not to laugh until his sides hurt. She was so badly flustered, if her babbling and her very pink cheeks were any indication, and he would give her a moment to recover herself, as he didn't want to hurt her feelings, especially since it seemed to him that she didn't have much experience in the 'game'. He didn't want to give her a bad impression to begin with. And she really did come off as being a sweet-tempered little thing. He had most certainly caught her look before she had flushed and tried to cover her verbal trail. She was lucky in the fact that Albert would not intentionally hurt her, and play silly games that would leave her broken. He would work with this crush that she was gaining, and by the end, when she finally fell out of it, they would still be friends. Hopefully, one day, she would find someone who would be nice to her, and take care of her. It was all he could hope for.

I truely hope you find several men like you've described, and find a choice of them. The world needs more like them. Though, you may find one day, that's is not nearly as easy as you say to find yourself a male. He winked at her, and moved ahead of her a bit, to give her some privacy.

She stopped in whole and lowered her head. "Yeah. Maybe you're right. I mean, who would really want to stay with me? I'm told I can be an annoying handful" she sighed. Seven guys like she described? She was no flirt, no whore. She wanted only one mate one day. Someone who'd never leave her. But then again---what made that any more possible than a passing dream? Under her breath Meru muttered, "Ugh..."

Albert stopped and turned, sensing that something was wrong When he saw her stopped, he made his way back to her, and ear flicking forward then back in concern. I think you misunderstood me Meru. I'm sure that you will find that one you speak of. And I wish you all the best of luck in that quest. Thinking for a moment, he stepped forward and reachedto place his muzzle comfortingly on her forehead for a moment, then stepped back so he was out of reach. And as far as being an annoying handful, well, we're all like that actually. Including mwah. And if you consider yourself a handful, then I must have been a downright kolana hellion.

"No you're nothing like a kalona" she replied quickly, head still low. She knew one and Al wasn't anywhere as close to as big a pain in the butt Parixaeus was. "You're not even annoying at all. You're kind and smart and sweet. The kind of guy any girl would dream of being with" she finished, sighing. "I'll never get a guy like you." And...cue blush. Oops, she'd done it again. What was with her today? sweatdrop

When I was young, I sure must have been. I was everywhere and into everything. Not anything like I am now really. And as for a girl dreaming to be with me... he turned to face the direction they had been heading. I doubt anyone would ever dream of being with me.

Dare she continue to speak...lest make more a fool of herself? Meru thought. Depressing moments were such a drag. Now she'd made him depressed too. Way to go Meru... She had to say something to cheer him up. After all, it was her fault this 'fun adventure' she was on with him took a turn to gloom. Taking a deep breath in, she blurted softly, "Well I would." He's gonna laugh---he's sure to laugh. Meru closed her eyes, sighed and waited. Nothing so serious had ever come out of her before. It was bound to be funny in some way. Something serious coming from a complete spaz was usually always laughed at. She was used to it by now though.

He turned and gave her a friendly smile. I appreciate that, Meru. Though, you don't know the life I lead. It is not one that I would want anyone else to have to live. But really, thank you. His words were sincere and heartfelt, but he was tired of the direction of the conversation. Time to break the tension.

He waggled his eyebrows at her in the most suggestively hilarious way, threw his mane like he was some vain peacock; a section falling and covering his eye to make him look more 'aluring', and then walked forward with high steps, and wiggling hips, his body language just screaming 'gay!' I had won him may a laugh from foals and mares alike. He hoped that it would work the same way on Meru as well.

Meru did indeed giggle, but was still kind of sad on the inside. Wasn't the whole 'how I live isn't for you' thing a type of shoot down? She was a little angry now. "You could just say you don't think of me in a romantic way...or well---since you just met me...that maybe you don't or wouldn't eventually think of me that way. You could have just said that you're not interested" Meru replied. She was clearly frustraited now. He wasn't THAT blonde. She'd pretty much said it that she found him attractive.

Maybe she was just an idiot, maybe she was 'rushing in.' But whatever, she felt something. A strange fluttery connection...surely a crush. Meru sighed, "Not wanting someone to live the life 'you lead' is just an excuse that big scardy Soquilis make when they're don't want companionship" Meru huffed. Now she'd turned her back on him virtually forgetting this was supposed to be a friendly trip to the ocean.

He sighed. So much for a change in subject. Dropping his gay little walk, he turned back to her. I didn't say I didn't like you in that way Meru, and if you want the truth, I will give it to you straight, without any large pretty speeches or words.

I haven't known you for very long, but you seem the kind that would be friendly, fun, loving, and compassionate. One day, I do see you living somewhere with small foals romping around your heals, and a mate at your side that loves you unconditionally and thinks every day how lucky he is to have you. That is what I see for you. What I see for myself is different.

I left my home to protect those that I left behind. And if I want to keep them safe, I can never go back. I am essentially dead to them all, as I will never see them again. And I cannot find myself able to settle down anywhere. I make friends and then leave them behind. That is what my life is now. It is not the type of life that's very supportive of mate and foals. If there was a mare who truly wanted to stay with me, she would be doomed to a life of never having one place to call home; never staying in one place truly long enough to call it a home. If we ever had children, they would be doomed to the same lifestyle. And what suits one, may not necessarily suit another.

I find I often can't make true friends anymore. All I can think is that the wound caused by my leaving has not yet healed, and I doubt that it ever truly will. And you Meru, do not truly understand the dangers of this lifestyle, as it seems to me. I would not want you getting hurt thinking that this path of mine is some grand adventure. Truly, many times it is dull, and danger follows my every footstep. I have gone hungry, I have nearly frozen to death. I have nearly died, and I don't want to see you or anyone else ever have to go through something like that. I am starting to really like you, but I do not want you to follow me blindly into something that you truly do no understand. I could never forgive myself if you were badly hurt, or even killed.
