I am sort of like that too, though I hadn't thought about it until now. Reading a sad part in a good book is the only time I can remember crying. I didn't cry when I was getting stitches and the numbing thing didn't work(I was like 9 or something), but whenever I read a certain part in one of my favorite book series I have to back off a little so I don't get the pages wet. sweatdrop Also, when I finish a good long book series I get sort of depressed for a while. :l

I used to be quite proud of myself, because unlike the other kids at my school I had never fallen for the selfish trap that is depression. But then I read some of Mathew Reilly's books. They were good fun because of their fast pace (actions books that are actually faster than movies) and I liked all of the characters and the unbelievable nature of the events.
But then, in the second book, he killed my favourite character.
I have always known that life is pointless, and since I have no ambition that's never bothered me, but it really hit home hard, that day. I never cry, but I was walking around for half a week like a zombie, thinking about death, and how there's no point in living. A friend helped me out of it when I asked him how he could stand it, and he said he just didn't care. Trust me, apathy saves lives.
The only other books that I have read that affected me so deeply were the Rhapsody trilogy by Elizabeth Haydon. And they were uplifting in a way that I can still feel without even reading them again. Words, oddly enough, aren't enough to describe it, so I suggest you read them yourself.
And no, I don't often get emotional, being a realist.

Yeah, if its a really good book and I fall in love with the world and the characters, I laugh when there's funny parts, and I cry when its sad, and I even get angry when they do. I mean, I've always been big on empathy, but there's just something about a really, really good book that amplifies my emotions to match. A lot of Stephen King's books do that to me, and so do Jacqueline Carey's, and Patricia Jo Clayton's as well. I'm sure there were others, but its been almost 13 years since I started reading novels, and I just can't remember them all. I know for sure Piers Anthony, and C.S. Freidman's books do the same to me, and Tolkien and Lewis. Oh, and I felt the emotions all through Secret Garden, too. Speaking of which, I love that book, I should reread it after I finish Kushiel's Chosen, before I start Kushiel's Avatar. XD Oh, so many books I have to read before I can buy any more (with the exception of another book in the Kushiel's Legacy series).

If anyone's read My Sister's Keeper, they know how it ends. I started to read it and had to stop, catch my breath, and almost cried as I continued. The thing is, I don't really get that emotional over stuff like that, but that ending was so sudden and unexpected and sad... cry

My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, Commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions, loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius, I don't really cry much, but if the character in the book I'm reading is angry, sad, or even tired or hungry, I feel the same. It doesn't matter if I'm well-rested and fed, I will still feel the same as my character.
It gets kind of annoying when my character is feeling a negative emotion and I have to stop reading. My mom kept asking me if I was bipolar! (No joke, and she's a nurse for troubled teens!)
father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife, and I will have my vengeance -- in this life or the next.

Sometimes that happens to me too, but I don't cry, I just get sad. sad
Mostly I'll get angry about something that happened, but I won't cry about it.

I am the same way. Except I can't cry because the sad parts usually come when I'm reading at school crying . And I also have the driving urge to just, take the characters away from harm and protect them, or rip them into tiny bloody pieces!! *HATES JOFFREY FROM CURRENT SERIES SO MUCH*

i never usually cry at books though i do feel sad at the sad bits ect. the most memorable cry i've ever had is when i was reading snoopy's 5 minute stories when i was little. theres this bit where snoopy goes into a talent competition to try and get this girl to love him and theres this whole page of illustrationsof him doing different things and i burst into tears because he was trying so hard. then again when i was little i was known to cry beccause, and i quote, "i'm soo happy".
also when i read a bit in a book and its pbviouse that they a 3 seconds away from makeing a fool of them selves i get so embaraased that i can tread it for a while.

I do the same thing. Whatever feelings the main character in my book is feeling, I find myself experiencing. Sometimes I get so into books that even when I stop reading them I find myself dreaming that I am in the story when I go to sleep, and thinking about what is going to happen next every time I set it down. I read books really quickly too, if it is a good book it usually only lasts one day, at most two (depending on length).

That happens to me, but only for a couple of minutes. I do end up thinking about it a lot, but the emotions only last for a little while. A lot of the time, I get annoyed with characters who are portrayed as mean or stupid.
