“You won’t drop her,” she said casually, “and even if you do, if you keep your head low and she won’t fall far, now will she? You’re worrying too much.” She watched him, frowning somewhat. Didn’t he know how to do anything?
“Careful,” Sinasina advised, “that’s my child you’re talking about.”
That light push seemed enough to set the baby off, the little thing whimpering and wailing coming from her as she once again plopped onto her said. Wailing, she turned her head up towards Hadaya, eyes opening slowly. One was baby blue, as always, while the other seemed strangely lighter. Still, they were both trained on Hadaya, the little creature kicking at him as though trying to punish him for pushing her around.
Sinasina laughed as she watched, wondering if that was just a baby thing, or if the little cub actually had her mother’s spunk.
“You’re such a worrier!” she laughed, “just calm down. You don’t have to pick her up, just don’t roll her. I don’t want you hurting her. If it really upsets you, I can pick her up. Or maybe she’ll get tired of you and wiggle back to me. At least you got her eyes open! She can look at you now, isn’t that something?”

"Sorry," Hadaya said, ears flat against his skull. He pouted, not having meant to insult the cub. The weird, wiggling cub. Or it's mother, through the comment. He decided not to bring it up again, wanting it to just vanish.
The noise from the cub was enough to draw his full attention, his concern about the insult vanishing as the little thing wailed. Terrified that he had hurt it, he lowered his face a bit closer to it, just to be sure. It opened its eyes and Hadaya blinked, finding the colors odd but cute. Then it kicked him, its foot managing to find his nose, and he sneezed.
"She kicked me!" he cried, as if she had planned it. He moved his paw carefully forward, eyes trained on her as he poked at her belly carefully. He was trying to tickle her, but he was still scared of touching her, "her eyes are weird. One's lighter. Is that because she's a lion and a leopard?"

Sinasina chuckled. “Well you nudged her first!” she commented, “she was just getting you back for getting rid of her resting area. She liked sleeping against your foot.” She watched, wondering for a moment if Hadaya was going to engage in a nudge/kicking battle with her baby.
The cub squealed with delight, giving off perhaps the most adorable baby giggle Sinasina had ever heard. It made her happy to see the young lion at least trying to play with the little baby, even if he looked terribly awkward doing so. The baby continued to wiggle happily.
Hearing about the eye, she moved over, looking down at her baby. “No,” she replied, “it’s probably because of her father. Not because he’s a lion, but because he had a really weird eye. I guess it didn’t quite transfer right. Looks like she’s blind in that eye.” She didn’t sound too worried. If they were born with it, then it was something they would learn to live with and have no troubles later on. Her baby would be alright.

The giggle the little baby let out warmed Hadaya's chest, making his mouth curl upwards in an involuntary grin. He didn't know when he had started enjoying the company of the small, purple mound of fur, but he was. Wiggling his finger against her stomach carefully, he watched intently as she kicked and flailed.
"Oh. Blind?" He pulled his paw back, moving it and waving it in front of the apparent bad eye as if to check if Sinasina was right. Of course, the baby was so young it probably would not have responded to the gesture, anyway. Unable to tell if he was making a difference, he put his paws down onto the floor.
Blinking at Sinasina, he tilted his head, "you don't sound too concerned. I mean, if she's blind in one eye won't she have a harder time catching food and everything?"

The baby giggled and squirmed, the new sensation of being tickled something of a great delight to the little creature. She had never laughed before. It made Sinasina very pleased to see it. Her baby, even though it was a baby she had never really wanted, was slowly growing already.
It was nice.
The baby, simply turning her head to see the paw with her good eye, moved her head towards it, licking the pads with a tiny tongue. She tried to follow it as it moved away from her, flopping forward on the ground.
Sinasina smiled. “I don’t think so. She’ll grow up with her eye like that- it’ll be the norm for her. So she’ll adapt to it and I think she’ll end up being just fine. And if she does have trouble, well, I’m sure she’ll find someone to help her. If she’s anything like me, getting a male to help her hunt won’t be a problem at all!” She watched the baby cub a moment longer, before nodding to herself. “I think I know what I’m going to call her.”

Hadaya let out a noise, something close to a yelp despite his best effort to swallow it, as the little thing licked his paw. He imagined it couldn't taste too nice, and as he pulled it away he opened his mouth to speak to the cub, only to let out another yelp as it flopped forward. He tried to catch her, but was a bit too slow on it, his paw softly meeting her side.
Wiggling his fingers against her side, he slid his useless paw out from under her and instead curled it around her, carefully nudging the creepy purple fluff ball toward him. His earlier fear of it had ebbed into a cautious like for it.
"What are you going to call her?" he asked, distracted by his attempts to bond with the strange looking cub. The more he looked at it, the more adorable it became, and he could not help but smile every time it moved or made a sound.

The cub seemed to be made happier by the fall, wiggling against the ground in an attempt to shuffle herself forward. She was staring up at Hadaya, both eyes on him naturally even though one couldn’t see. A soft, somehow content whimper escaped her when she felt him moving her. It wasn’t something she had been expecting, but once she felt his fur she quieted down again, contently bubbling as she moved a little paw over one of his as though to give his foot a hug.
She was now of the mind that this tall animal was her brother, if not her father. The distinction wasn’t really there- all she knew was that she trusted this animal and liked being near him.
“I think I’ll call her Nitakidhi,” replied Sinasina with a smile, pleased by the bonding, “it means, loosely, “will bring delight” and I think it suits her very nicely.” She looked at her little cub, her heart warming to the sight even more than it had before. “Do you like that name, Nita?” she asked.
The leopon cub purred against Hadaya.
With a short chuckle, Sinasina looked at the young lion. "So what are you going to do with yourself?" she asked after a moment, "are you still roaming around or have you made some friends in an area you like?" She just wanted to know if things were going well for the little guy.

Hadaya smiled at the cub as it hugged his foot, chewing on his lower lip in order to avoid embarrassing himself by blubbering about how adorable the strange looking purple cub had suddenly become in his eyes. He looked up as Sinasina told him the cubs name, nodding and looking down at it again. It certainly seemed fitting.
"Nita, huh? That's pretty. She's pretty. I guess," he said, doing his best to sound nonchalant. He found himself purring at the sound from the cub. Repositioning himself carefully, he laid himself down by the cub. This presented her more fur to find warmth from since, in Hadaya's head, that's why she was so interested in being close to him.
"I don't know," Hadaya replied, almost absently, "I've always liked roaming around, but I've met a few friends out here, and that's pretty cool. Like you, for one, and some others. I think I'll hang around here for at least a little while, just to see them some more. Not here. I mean. Not in this den. I meant. Outside. Uhm. Around. I'll be around."

Sinasina, of course, had no trouble seeing right through Hadaya. Of course he thought the cub was pretty- how could anyone not find that purple adorable? It was strange, though. Not long ago she had felt completely indifferent to the cub. Now she was warming to it at an alarming rate. Maybe seeing Hadaya let the cub grow on him also helped her love it just a little bit more.
Nita really was a cutie.
“Don’t worry,” laughed the leopard, “I know what you meant. And you know this den will always be open for you, even if you don’t visit for a long time. I think that’s a good idea. And I’m glad to hear you’re making friends! When I first met you, I have to admit, I was a little worried about you. But you seem to be growing into quite the nice young lion and I’m happy about that. I was thinking about trying to find a pride to settle down in. For a little bit of safety.”
Meanwhile, Nita huffed at the move, worried for a moment that her new friend was going to be leaving. She quieted down, though, once he was on the ground and she was able to coil up next to his body. Cooing, she raised her head sleepily, looking at Hadaya for a moment before sneezing.

"A pride?" Hadaya said, thoughtfully, "that would be cool. Especially if you need safety. I wouldn't want you getting hurt in any way... if you needed me to, I would protect you. I mean. I would try." It wasn't much in the way of confidence, but it was sincere and he looked at her soberly. Sniffing, awkward, he looked back down at the cub and sighed.
He watched her as she curled against him, smiling at her little movements, and the cute way she raised her head. It was still vaguely creepy, but also the most adorable thing he had ever seen. And then she sneezed on him and he recoiled a bit, blinking. And then he sneezed, rather loudly, and leaped up on instinct.
He hadn't meant to sneeze on the little cub, and now he had jostled her by moving so suddenly. Batting the floor with his paws, he stamped without knowing what to do, debating darting from the cave or plopping back down and pretending nothing had happened. He looked at Sinasina hopelessly, backing up with his tail between his legs.
"I should... I should go..." he said, and he did.

Sinasina kept her expression warm and friendly, trying not to laugh at the comment Hadaya had just offered. It was cute that he would want to protect her, but she wasn’t so sure he had the means to back up the decision. More likely than not, she would be the one protecting him. Not that it would be a bad thing, really. Maybe having someone around to protect would give her more strength to fight.
It was worth a shot.
When the sneezing fit happened, Sinasina went from ‘aw that’s adorable’ to ‘what the hell is going on’ quite quickly, jumping to her feet along with Hadaya. She watched him a moment, her heart slowly working its way back down into her chest from her throat.
Nita was unhappy. The noise and sudden movement hadn’t caused her any harm, but it was still more than enough to make her whimper and moan and cry for her mother’s care. She was frightened. Sinasina sighed, moving over to her cub and giving her a few careful licks.
“It’s okay Hadaya,” she said softly, “you didn’t hurt her.” But she didn’t stop the boy from running off, aware that nothing she said would really be enough to stop him. She could only hope that he would come back again soon.
