Katista I believe a movie would be alright if it was written and casted well but a TV series would be so much better. A TV series would be better since they can take a little more time to explain what is going on, maybe even add flashbacks so that those who haven't read the books, get a better understanding. It can also not be as restricted in time. Maybe a book could last maybe 5 episodes...an hour each....so you never know. She may change her mind. I'm sure she will make a great choice since she is a great writer...but she really needs to cut down on the sexual parts cause it really ruins the books. I don't mind one or two, but a book filled with them kind of ruins the plot. She can use the sex in the Gentry series but not as much in Anita Blake...or am I the only person who thinks this? I totally agree with you on bath parts. TV would give more justice to each book but some things can't be shown on TV (unless they put it on HBO or Showtime). I would try to watch that anyway. I have to say, the sex is getting a little out of hand. It makes sense in some points but then there's just too much. I just finished Danse Macbre today and I felt like there was no real plot, no real action, just a lot and a lot of sex with anyone and everyone.

I was also very excited when I heard about this. But there is also concern for the characters being produced on the big screen and how much of the books they can integrate. A movie is more likely but I don't think you could put all 16 books into it. As for the tv show series, that would give more time. Either way, since the books are amazing, I hope the movie/show lives up to the books

Moe_sexy I think I am more going for the said but true theory on books into movies I think that in the way we might be lucky like the Harry potter books in the other sense we could run for the hills and cover our eyes and ears and hope that we dont melt from the crap they will put on the screen. Just cross your fingers. That is exactly what I was thinking. If they did manage to mess up the Anita series by puting it on screen (which they have for many things, lol)it would make me want to put some bodily harm on some producers and screenwriters... lol, jk... but hopfully it would still be alright and not tarnished in my mind, lol.

All I can say, or ask really "Is it going to be a soft-core porn?" I agree with several people that the sex in the Blake series has gotten out of hand. I adore Hamilton's writings and am a big fan of both Blake and Gentry. She made sex very central at the start of the Gentry series and it meshes well with the sidhe. I believe I read somewhere that she started the Gentry series to get the sex writing out of her system so she could get back to the action of the Blake series.
I was thrilled with the last Blake to hit paperback-The Harlequin. It seemed to get back to the Anita I fell in love with. Then I decide to get a sneak peak at Blood Noir and read the first two chapters on her website and the sex is already starting. gonk I just want the old Anita back.
I didn't mean for this to be an uber rant on the sex in the books, but I don't see how they can make a decent movie or TV series with all of the sexual content.

I hope they do a tv show as apposed to a movie because movies never are as good as the books. Plus seeing how True Blood as captured the essense of the Southern Vampire series, gives me hope for a good adaptation of the Anita Blake series. Hopefully it airs on HBO due to the gore and sex factor.

There is alot of sex in it yet it does not detract from the show. That is my opinion of cource. I think it is plausible that in the right hands a show could work.

W-O-W. . .I don't even know what to think. . . I should be happy, but as with many other movies, the books are so much better. As you wait for a movie, you get the idea that every detail from the book will be perfectly distinguished. No, they never are. Some are better than others, but none are just like the book. That leads to very much disappointment in the movie. Also when the movies come out, no matter how big a fan of the book you were before the movie, people will come out and say you're a poser, or your a crazed movie fan. This is just to be expected. So before you get so exited about the movie, make sure you let yourself know that it will not be exactly the same. Don't get your hopes down if the movie isn't what you expected, just take pride in sayind you liked the book before all the crazy fans did.

Hopefully, it will be a TV show and on HBO or Shotime, even though we don't get either network at my house.
And I think that the best way for them to REALLY get the point across is if each season was a book. That way you get all the details and hey! Built in season finale!
But it's really going to henge on the casting and the writers.

Say what you will, everyone. I don't know who they could cast for anyone else other than Edward. ...and as far as EEdward is concerned...anyone else think that Edward Norton would play a spot-on-perfect "Death"?

Well, with the first few books, the sex was nonexistant. lust, sure. yearning, maybe. Sex? Mmm...nope. The first four or five books, I would say, are perfect for film adaptation. Further into the series...*winces* Not so much.
