ABC's at the tableLuna peeked around the corner into the kitchen, sure enough there was mariel bent over the table and coloring intently. Luna had set her there almost an hour ago to color her Alphabet Homework and still the little girl was there, coloring away. Luna walked up as slowly as she could and when she reached mariel she peeked over the child shoulder. There were the letters of the alphabet, carefully colored and made to look "nice". Luna now saw why it was taking so long. Mariel would sit and stare at the letter for a while, then slowly trace it, then begin to color it in carefully, one stroke at a time, trying her best to stay in the lines. Then of course everything was repeated for the drawing.          "Bokis ju take much to much time on dis." Luna interupted Mariel as she had just finished her Y coloring. Mariel jumped and looked up at Luna with wide frightened eyes. She looked as though she had just been caught stealing. Luna laughed. "Jur not in trouble bokis, I just tink ju need a break, why not go play wit Ebony and Kuka?" Lunaur tried to entice the child outside to do normal little kid stuffs. Mariel looked to her coloring and then towards the door...But then her eyes focused on the Z, it was still uncolored, still bare and naked and unlearned. Mariel gave Luna a plantitive look and held the crayon in her hand. She did not want to go play when there was something left unlearned right in front of her!Luna sighed and waved her hand, "okay okay ju can finish jur coloring but I will be outzide." and so Luna began to walk towards the door.Mariel thought for a moment, she wanted to go outside, afterall she liked playing with Ebony...she didnt mind Kuka too much but Ebony was always fun and digging up strange stuffs. She focused on the Z and memorized it to the best of her abilities. She decided it didnt need color. Afterall Zebras were black and white anyway right?! So once that was done she dropped the crayon, and hit the floor running. She wanted to PLAY!

Its a numbers gameMariel sat, markers in hand, staring at the numbers. Letters had been easy to learn, you memorized the shape, the sound, and then just put them together like a puzzle. But numbers were harder. Each number was unique, you could put them together but they didnt sound the same, they got new names. It was more confusing for Mariel than anything she had tried to figure out. She had finished coloring them but felt like a failure because she still couldnt do much with them. She knew their names, and she had the cheerios that allowed her to count up to 10 but still...there was so much left to know and she was so far behind. She stared at her colorings... But to no avail she still only knew the first 10. That was when she heard Luna in the living room. Was Luna counting?...Mariel slipped from her seat in the kitchen and made her way quietly to the living room. Luna was standing in front of the tv and moving to some kind of music as she counted. Each number seemed to mean a different movement..."Five, six, seven, eight...."Mariel watched for a while longer untill Luna seemed to take a break, then she slowly made her way to the tv. There were people in the tv dancing just like Luna had been, and they were counting too. Mariel looked at Luna and then to the tv, waiting for an explination.Luna wiped the sweat from her forehead and watched Mariel examine the tv. It was a new video she had gotten, Luna LOVED to dance and she was trying to learn more than just the latin dances she had learned as a child. This was a modern dance video.
"Ju want to dance with me Mariel?" She asked as the girl looked at her expectantly.Mariel looked to Luna and tilted her head before shaking it.
"Count." She said simply. She wanted to learn to count. Luna smiled and motioned for mariel to come to where she stood as she began to rewind the video. She showed Mariel how to stand and then how the steps went. They went through it slowly, counting each step. They worked slowly and when Mariel was getting it Luna turned on the video and they began to follow it together. Mariel was having so much FUN!! She was not only learning how to count, (She had mastered the order of the munbers) but she was learning new and strange ways she could move. It was interesting, she didnt know that her body could do such things. She twisted, she jumped, she turned in circles. It was so much fun!! Luna told her she was naturally gracefull but Mariel kept tripping over her own feet so she didnt believe her new mother. But she did keep dancing, the both of them danced untill they had mastered the first chapters and were official begginers, or so the video said.

Mariel stood next to Luna in the kitchen, this was a sacred ritual, they were cooking. Mariel watched closely, it was a dish she had seen Luna cook before, they were making salsa for tacos. The tacos themselves seemed easy enough, and Mariel still was not allowed near the stove so she didnt pay too much attention to that stuff, but the salsa was a different story. Luna showed Mariel each step as she did it, she explained what they were adding what it would do to the taste, and often letting mariel taste the before and after. Mariel loved that, she could actually taste the differences, when the cilantro was added she could taste it, when the chili was added (in small amounts) she could taste it. Luna even let her pick some of the vegies and spices herself! Mariel was given the task of guarding the bowls of ingredients that were on the kitchen counter. It was a sacred duty.
Mariel loved to cook, such experimentation that happened in the kitchen!! You could add anything and it would make everything change. She continued to watch and add the ingredients that Luna dictated. It was so fun and she made a mental note to help her new mom in the kitchen whenever she could. Cooking semed almst magic and she wanted to learn any magic she could. She would one day know EVERYTHING!!

Clothes shopping (Saedah & Mariel)
Location: A childs clothing store in the mall
Summary: Saedah and Mariel accidentaly met when their parents went to the same store to buy kids clothing. They seemed to get along, Mariel thinks she is really interesting because she has no legs. They figured out a system of helping each other choose their clothing and in the end Saedah's father invited them to come eat sometime.

Mariel, Eichia, and Ryan at the parkLocation City Park Summary: Mariel got to finally act almost like a kid, she made a pretty good friend out of Eichia whose squirrely ways made her get out of her shell a bit but Ryan seemed to scare her more than anything. The two seemed to make up towards the end when Ryan offered to show her a secret but both kids got called to go home before anything could happen. mariel felt a little cheated at not being shown a secret but overall she had fun.

Ligeia babysits Mariel
Location Lunas House
Summary: At first things seemed to be rocky with Ebony the dog thinking that Vorrel the dragon was an intruder. But Mariel managed to calm the dog down enough that he didnt bark and let the dragon roam around. Mariel LOVED Vorrel and couldnt stop petting him and examining him all over. She was also convinced that Ligeia was a superhero because he had powers and Vorrel was his sidekick...or maybe the other way around cause of the size of both of them. Well anyway Mariel cant wait to get a dragon JUST like Vorrel now, even though Ligeia said that she would get a different dragon. She also cant wait to go to school so she can be a super hero like Ligeia too!

Luna sat on the couch of the current house she was cleaning. She was tired from the days work but she still craned her neck around to make sure that Mariel was still within viewing distance. As Luna spotted her brown furry baby she smiled, mariel was playing in the yard, running back and forth and chasing the leaves as they fell, which reminded Luna that she eventually would have to clean that pool nearby. She had no worries about the owners coming home and being angry at finding Mariel there, Luna had phoned ahead and asked if her daughter could come.
She would do anything that she could to make coming along less boring for the poor child. Sure at first she would just leave mariel with the dogs at home, but now. Well that girl was getting so curious! It seemed more likely every day that Mariel would wander outside and go exploring if she was left alone! Luna supposed that she could always go hire a baby sitter but that was out of the question at the moment. Since the economy went down she had been told to stop coming to many of her previous clients houses to clean. As hard as she tried Luna could not be mad at them for deciding to clean up their own messes. After all she always thought that her job was monopolizing on the laziness of others. But she did miss the money. Luna shook her head as the thoughts of how to stretch todays payment came sneaking in. NO I'm not going to start doing that yet. she thought I'm going to wait and do it later, maybe even tomorrow. Yeah maybe me and Mariel can go get an ice cream after I'm done...it is pretty hot outside... Luna seemed to be satisfied with her desicion she smiled and once again looked out to where mariel skipped around happily.
At first Luna had thought that mariel was some kind of cat because of her tail Luna really didnt know exactly what Mariel was but she had a feeling that when the child got older it would be a fun thing to take her to the library and they could pour over animal books and try to figure it out together. Luna knew that she could go and ask the people in that lab if she ever really got curious but she didnt want to ruin the fun they would have in the future. She sighed heavily, knowing she would have to get back to work soon. Well might as well finish up, only the 3rd story left then the pool and then ICE CREAM! Luna smiled and smacked her lips. Thank good for rich lazy people and their big houses. Luna smiled knowing full well that when she reached the 3rd floor of the house she would be a lot less gratefull that the rich always had big houses. She took one last look at Mariel and was surprised to see mariel waving to get her attention. Her little child seemed to have caught a rather large leave. Luna smiled and waved back letting Mariel know she was proud before getting up and heading back up stairs.

Summer Splash Time (Mariel and Miranda)
Location: Public childrens pool
Summary: Mariel and Miranda seemed to really hit it off. They went adventuring and exploring the whole public pool. They even found some shiny hair clips that they are sharing as a token of friendship! Mariel invited Miranda to come over and build sand castles on her island!

Dear Journal,Well Mariel is growing up to be such a wonderful child. She is growing more and more curious each day and seems to have made it her mission to tear apart everything in the back yard just to see where it comes from and why it is there. But at least she seems to be working out a method of learning that I think is a little crazy but seems to work for her. For example when she learns dancing from those videos I keep buying her. First she watches the video almost all the way through then she does the moves very slowly, watching the video almost frame by frame. She'll do that about twice then go through everything at full speed. Generally by the time she does it full speed she has the whole thing down perfectly! Its a little amazing and in my mind impossible. I'm just chalking it up to her being young and eager to learn. She seems to be using this method of doing things with everything now! Just the other day I saw her trying to stalk a bug in the garden to watch it and see where it will go. I swear that child can watch a bug not move for HOURS, maybe even the whole day if the bug stays in the garden, just so she knows what it will do. I think she is crazy. But she does love her water and there is no chance of catching her in that. Oh no I learned fast that once she gets in I will only chase her out if I REALLY want her to get out. That little child swims like Michael Phelps!! Ok so maybe not exactly like him but I'm sure she splashes around like he did when he was her age. I cant swim myself so I let her splash around in the shallows near me when we go to the city pool and she does seem to really enjoy it, so I assume she will enjoy swimming in the future if she ever learns the proper way to do it. She still talks about that dragon and the babysitter from a few months back. Something about them being superheroes and that she was gonna be one too? Also something about a royal dragon and baby snow...or was it baby...ah I forget. I really dont know what she is talking about but if she is gonna get a dragon oh god PLEASE let it be something that can take care of her in her wanderings. I know as she gets older she is going to eventually slip my radar and when that happens I will be much happier if whatever she has can at least fend off those rabies infested coyotes outside of the fence. Wait I remember that dragon thinger now, yeah with the owl girl, hey yeah whats up with that I ask for a babysitter they tell me its a boy and a girl shows up! Well maybe the boy got sick, that dragon was pretty big, something like that minus the wings might work. oh God dont give her anything with wings, I dont think Mariel likes heights too much, but then again I havent really tested it out...I have no dbout she will see the capacity for adventure wings might give her. Oh god...wait dont all dragons have wings....I'm just not going to think about it anymore... Well overall I hope whatever happens, maybe this superhero training will help her come out of her little shy bubble. I always sneak a peek at her dancing and exploring and she is so good at whatever she puts her mind to, but the second she knows I'm watching she flounders and gets nervous and shy and just stops. Its almost frustrating! But then again she is still young and all kids are shy to a point...right? Well here is hoping for the best. -Luna Del-Mar

There and Back [Mariel and Brianna]
Location: D-Corp
Summary:Mariel Runs into Brianna in the D-Corp waiting room as Luna bugs the staff for some connections on getting a salt water lake built into their ample back yard. As the girls get to know each other Brianna asks mariel what kind of animal she is. mariel does not know since Luna forgot to ask when she picked her up and so the girls try to figure it out on their own. They both come to the conclusion that Mariel is a water cat and they plan a beach trip to "test" their theory and build some sand castles in the process. Mariel also promises to Teach Brianna spanish so they can have a secret language at school.
